After a red-hot start to the season, Jozy Altidore had lost his starting role for AZ Alkmaar and
was mired in a bit of a scoring slump.
At the very least, that slump is now over.

PHILADELPHIA -- What a difference 10 months have made for Brek Shea.
Last October, Shea appeared unsure, uncomfortable and out of place in his debut for the U.S.
men's national team, which came just miles down the road at PPL Park against Colombia.
FIFA Under-20 World Cup host Colombia won't be leaving its own party early.
Colombia defeated Mali, 2-0, on Tuesday to become the first team to seal a place in the knockout
stage of the tournament.
Jose Valencia and James Rodriguez scored the goals, and FC Dallas Designated Player Fabian
Castillo made his tournament debut, entering as a 61st-minute substitute for Colombia, which is
almost assured of winning Group A.
Germany's second division started the season over the weekend and with it several National Teamers

Chivas USA was ready to win a second straight game and hand Sporting Kansas City its first ever
loss at Livestrong Sporting Park.
That was until Zarek Valentin made a rookie mistake in stoppage time that Omar Bravo capitalized
on.
After a long ball was sent into the penalty area, Valentin mis-hit a clearance and Bravo headed
it home in the 92nd minute to help Sporting Kansas City earn a 1-1 draw with Chivas USA.

Valencia managed to pick up the three points in a dramatic fashion against Champions League spot
rivals Espanyol at the Mestalla. Aritz Aduriz opened the scoring for host in the first half and
Ricardo Costa put one in his own net to draw the game level. Aduriz was later sent off in dubious
circumstances after the break, and despite their numerical disadvantage Valencia found a winner
through Juan Mata in injury time.
