the Scottish Premier League. Joe Ledley was the goal scorer, converting in the 52nd minute at
Celtic Park. Frasier Foster got the shutout in a game where Rangers only put two shots on target.
However, replays showed that a sixth minute header from Lee Wallace crossed the goal line and
should've counted.

On the day before the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and

dropping 2 badly needed points) against the lowly Vancouver Whitecaps.

The circumstances truly don't matter when it's the first away league win over Arsenal since the
turn of the century.
Nonetheless – and while it's only two games into the campaign – it's hard to escape the
parallels between today's home side and 2009-10 Liverpool.

Going into the MLS regular season and CONCACAF Champions League games last night, American
soccer fans knew it was going to be an interesting night. The CCL matches would determine who
would advance to the group stage while the three MLS games had major playoff implications.
However, even I was unprepared for the intense level of play and implications that came out of the
games last night.

Usually we write something amusing here. Lately, our purple prose preamble has been little more
than a device to divert your attention from the fact that the Women's World Cup and Copa America
haven't kept us to the level of excitement we demand here.
This past Sunday, people from across the country and around the world witnessed one of the
greatest come-from-behind victories in all of sports. Truly, the United States stole a victory
against all odds. What many don't know is the battles these women have overcome away from the
field.

The Philadelphia Union were flying high at halftime, up by a goal in front of another sellout

Union's 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake Saturday afternoon.
Ukraine 1, France 4
Ukraine opened the scoring in the 53rd minute courtesy of an epic howler from France's backup

substitutes.

In a Major League Soccer season that has seen a lot, this weekend saw some of it all over again.
Lightning threatening to cancel a game? Check. Scoreless draws? Check. Impressive scoreless
streaks? Check. One way to look at this past weekend is to just say "been there, done
that".
Of course, the day belongs to Porto for winning their first Europa League title
in eight years (the last one they picked up was with Mourinho when he was making his mini mark as a
mastermind in 2002!) But these innovative fans take the cake for using paper plates (or something
along those lines) to create their butts/costumes!
