A decade on from Wimbledon's relocation to Milton Keynes and reincarnation as MK Dons, the issue continues to provoke strong feeling. Posts we have devoted to the topic have resulted in lively comments sections, most notably John McGee's January blast; a provocation to a response running 37 missives long.
Having been around or about the League One automatic promotion places for much of the season,
the last few days have suddenly become rather uncomfortable for Sheffield United. A single goal
defeat in Milton Keynes at the weekend coupled with a home win for local and promotion rivals
Sheffield Wednesday cut the gap between second and third place in the table to a single point with
just two games left to play, but even this precarious state of affairs is now threatening to be
overshadowed by events off the pitch.

Thedraw for the third round of the FA Cup was made on Sunday afternoon, with the occasion
throwing out a few tasty looking ties, none more so than the meeting of City and United.
Sir Alex Ferguson will no doubt have wanted a rather easier draw, although the chance to get
some revenge for the 6-1 mauling at Old Trafford might well give United an extra incentive in this
game.
In an evening of upsets, Leeds United knocked in-form Everton out of the Capital One League Cup while Wigan claimed an emphatic win at West Ham and 10-men Sunderland overcame Milton Keynes Dons away from home.
At Elland Road, Neil Warnock's Leeds side took an early lead through Aidan White and summer signing Rodolph Austin doubled that advantage in the 69th minute.

TAP TAP TAP TAPPITY TAP TAP, THERE'S ANOTHER NAIL BANGED INTO THE LID OF FOOTBALL'S COFFIN
On 28 May 2002, three days before the start of the World Cup in South Korea and Japan, the FA
took a leaf out of New Labour's Big Bumper Book Of Burying Bad News Under The Still Smouldering
Rubble Of The World Trade Center – you can find it in the Humour section in Waterstones – and
announced the relocation of Wimbledon FC to Milton Keynes.
Severely-restricted rail services mean Liverpool fans heading to next month's FA Cup final face a
travel test.
The Football Association have been criticized by a supporters' group for scheduling the May 5 tie
at Wembley against Chelsea for a 5.15pm kick-off.
But transport logistics are set to push anger levels higher as engineering work by Network Rail
over the May Day bank holiday weekend means Virgin Trains have cancelled all but three of their
Liverpool to London services on the day of the final.

It was a balmy evening at the end of May 2002 and emotions at The Sir Cyril Black Community
Centre in Wimbledon were running high. Two days earlier, the unthinkable had happened. A three-man
independent commission set up by the Football Association had, by two votes to one, waved through
permission for Wimbledon FC to leave Selhurst Park, its unhappy home for the previous eleven years,
and decamp sixty miles north to Milton Keynes in Buckinghamshire.
In part two of our series on the formation and rise of AFC Wimbledon, we rejoin the story in the
summer of 2001. With the clubs owners having seen their attempt to move Premier League football to
Dublin rejected by the Football Association of Ireland and in turn by the FA, UEFA and FIFA, an
entrepreneur has turned up at Selhurst Park with a potential get-out for the loss-making clubs
owners.
In January, Matt Bruce described the progress of the Football League's New Town clubs as
‘faltering' since joining the 92, but this past week may go down as the one in which their
vanguard arrived for real. As Milton Keynes Dons and Stevenage confirmed their play-off berths in
League 1, a nail reducing victory at Accrington saw Crawley Town finally confirm a spot in English
football's Tier Three for next season.
For most of us, the idea of drinking alcohol whilst at work would be to stretch the imagination
just a little too far. The days of long, boozy lunches in the pub and afternoons spent trying
desperately to stay awake are very much a thing of the past, and our productivity is, if we are
honest with ourselves, all the better for it.
"It only took nine years" was the cry from South-West London last summer, when AFC Wimbledon won
promotion back to the Football League after a dramatic penalty-shoot-out win as if there is any
other sort against Luton Town at The City of Manchester Stadium in the Blue Square Premier play-off
final.
Tim Ream and Bolton crashed out fo the FA Cup with a loss to Tottenham, while Frank Simek and
Carlisle United beat Milton Keynes Dons in League One play.

As things turned out, Heidar Helguson's late equalizer in Milton Keynes on Saturday afternoon
wasn't quite enough to keep Neil Warnock in his job. Rangers without a win of any description in
the FA Cup for a decade may well remain in the competition for now, but Warnock won't be at Loftus
Road for the replay.
In a day of very few shocks, two Premier League sides Bolton and Wigan were surprised by lower
league opponents in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.
Wigan's troubled season took another turn for the worse as they crashed out 2-1 too League Two
side Swindon Town. Calum McManaman had put Wigan 1-0 up but Swindon, managed by Italian Paolo Di
Canio, struck back to claim a famous win with goals coming from Alan Connell and Paul Benson.
Now, I'm not one of those EPL-centric, footballing-history-started-in-1992 type people. I just
hate the FA Cup. I hate how misused the FA Cup is in terms of broadcasting (both online and
televised).
Last March I wrote a post about how College Basketball's March Madness is presented in
America.
Karl Robinson and his Milton Keynes Dons side make the short journey down to the Lamex tomorrow
night in what could be a pivotal match as both sides look to cement their position in the League 1
play-off positions. MK Dons sit one place above Stevenage going into the game, although the Dons
are 5 points clear with the bonus of a game in hand.
There was nothing concrete upon which to link Birmingham City winning the League Cup with their
relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season, of course, but it didn't stop some
from asserting exactly this and it hasn't stopped panicky-looking managers whose main ambition for
this season is to finish seventeenth in the Premier League from effectively binning England's
second cup competition.
Ahead of grand final weekend down under, Frank Heaven examines the ambition and resentment at the heart of Australia's sporting franchise systems. This Sunday is a massive occasion for one of Australia's most controversial sporting teams. Melbourne Storm play in their first National Rugby League (NRL) Grand Final since 2010, when it emerged that the club had been breaching the competition's salary cap on a massive scale for over five years.
It has to be one of the strangest stories of the year, if not the decade, buried slightly under
the weight of Euro 2012 news but still standing out like a sore thumb. Scottish titans Rangers FC,
crippled by debt and forced to continue life as a "newco" (which meant possibly starting life anew
in the fourth tier of the league) were supposedly considering buying out League One outfit
Bury.
