It definitely was an interesting week in Major League Soccer. Out of all the results this weekend, all but one were a 2-0 scoreline. Because of that we went ahead and put all the goals into one package for the goals of the week. The best in my opinion is still Eddie Gavin's goal.

Order: Chris Rolfe, Mike Banner, Steve Zakuani, Fredy Montero, Maykel Galindo, Eduardo Lillingston, Chad Marshall, Eddie Gavin, Dwayne de Rosario, and O'Brien White

Random thoughts and ideas from the Colorado Rapids' shameful 3-2 loss against the Fire on Sunday evening in Chicago.

OMAR'S FIRST GOAL: Two things went right on Omar Cummings' goal in the first five minutes of the second half. First, Jamie Smith's shot was difficult enough that Chicago goalkeeper Jon Busch couldn't handle it cleanly.

More than a few eyebrows were raised when the Fire announced their 'protected list' of 11 players who wouldn't be eligible for selection by Philadelphia in today's MLS expansion draft.

One player in particular who stood out on the list was midfielder Justin Mapp. Mapp, a 25-year-old winger who has enjoyed a lot of success in the past, struggled with his play - and his ability to get playing time - for all of 2009.

In the game of soccer, any team playing a match without seven - that's right seven - regular starters doesn't stand much of a chance. So when the Fire, who has been bit by the injury bug in a major way for the last month, got key contributions from a quartet of youngsters in their 2-0 road win against the Kansas City Wizards on Sunday, they couldn't help but feel good about it.

The Fire announced their list of 11 expansion draft protected players today. The players, who will be ineligible for selection by the Philadelphia Union in Wednesday's expansion draft, include the following:

GK: Jon Busch

DEF: Wilman Conde, C.J. Brown, Dasan Robinson, Tim Ward

MID: Justin Mapp, Marco Pappa, Logan Pause, John Thorrington

FWD: Brian McBride, Patrick Nyarko

So, not a whole lot of real surprises on this list for the Fire.

Hey everybody, I'm working on getting some interviews with Fire personnel scheduled so I will hopefully have some stories up regarding the 'protected list' decisions later on. If the interviews don't work out, don't worry, I'll be back with another post today but the content will be slightly different.
