Forget the doom and gloom – we’ve got our club back

Middlesbrough FC news, match reports and articles - Boro Mania 16 September @ 02:35 AM EST

A little over two weeks ago, the transfer window slammed shut, leaving many Boro fans disillusioned. We had not brought in any big names. We had not brought in the fabled target man we so desired. We had not brought in.... anyone. Hopes of keeping Tuncay and Robert Huth, and seeing them outclass the Championship until January, vanished in an instant.

Defoe Continues To Shine For Club And Country

EPL Talk 06 September @ 02:25 PM EST

Jermain Defoe has had a fantastic start to the new season, with goals for England and Spurs; including his 50th for the club in the 2-1 win at West Ham. His hat trick and all round performance against Hull City was clearly his best performance in a Spurs shirt in either spell. When he rejoined Spurs in January this year, he was welcomed back with open arms as a disastrous season began to show the green shoots of recovery under Harry Redknapp.

Huth, Tuncay and Stoke - a little perspective

Middlesbrough FC news, match reports and articles - Boro Mania 27 August @ 02:22 PM EST

It is clear that the decision to sell Robert Huth and Tuncay to Stoke has split the Boro fans straight down the middle. Some are incandescent with rage at the thought of the two lining up for Stoke and see it as a betrayal by the club whilst others, myself included, are disappointed that the two have gone but understand the reasoning behind it.

Are we ready?

Middlesbrough FC news, match reports and articles - Boro Mania 04 August @ 04:01 AM EST

So, pre-season has come to a close, and the season starts in less than a week. The obvious question is 'are we ready?'

Gareth Southgate admitted last week that failing to get promoted at the first attempt would probably cost him his job. In truth, most Boro fans will probably start calling for his head if we fail to start the season with a bang.

Possible Penalty Takers

Fantasy Premier League Tips and Review 28 July @ 03:37 AM EST
Possibly the best attribute a player in your team can have is to be a penalty taker. But until the season is underway, it can also be one of the hardest things to tie down. Preseason games are indicators only, and the presence or absence of something happening in a preseason game does not indicate we should take that as a given either. Click to continue reading...

Johnson goal lights up victory over Dumbarton

Middlesbrough FC news, match reports and articles - Boro Mania 23 July @ 01:36 PM EST

Middlesbrough romped to a 5-0 victory over Scottish Second Division side Dumbarton with England under-21 winger Adam Johnson scoring the pick of the goals. The only downside of an otherwise fine run out for the Boro team was a hip injury to Frenchman Didier Digard, hopefully not too bad of an injury as we could really do with him staying injury free for a while!

Where is Mido?

AT THE FAR POST 13 July @ 03:25 PM EST
After the second successive week, that elusive Egyptian Mido has still not turned up for training at Middlesbrough!
Gareth Southgate was understood to have expected his Egyptian striker back today after his no-show all last week but was again let down when he did not appear.
Apparently, the loss of two weeks wages, which he was fined, means little to Mido who like Afonso Alves, neglected to turn up last week and was given a telling off by Southgate over the phone last week. Click to continue reading...

The angry majority of Boro fans have been calling for boss Gareth Southgate's head for a long while now, but this back-room departure comes somewhat out of the blue. According to the report on BBC Sport, and Crosby's comments, the decision was down to Southgate.

Wigan Athletic 1-2 Manchester United

Carlos Tevez came off the bench to help inspire Manchester United to victory after going a goal down and the win means the Red Devils are one point away from being crowned Champions.

Wigan had United on the back foot as early as the second minute as Valencia burst clear of Nemanja Vidic but shot wide.

Man United v Wigan Set for Wednesday

THE SOUNDER FC FAN BLOG 13 May @ 01:03 AM EST
This will be an interesting game for United. There are rumors all over the Internet that after Ronaldo's antics on Sunday that he and Fergie had a huge bust up afterward. I have even read a rumor that Fergie has agreed to sell Ronaldo to Mardrid for 72 Million pounds!!!!! If that happens then United can do what the fans want and resign Tevez for 26 Million and take the rest and go get Frank Ribery(seen on right) who right now could turn into just as good a player without being a bitch of a teammate. Rounding up the weekend’s action

Footy/Soccer Blog 13 April @ 05:16 AM EST

To Anfield, where football was not the most important thing on the agenda for once. Paying respect to those who sadly lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster, 20 years ago this Wednesday, was at the forefront of everyone's mind. A minute‘s silence, impeccably observed. What followed was fitting; a comprehensive feast of flowing football saw Liverpool sweep Blackburn aside with ease.
