Tonight Chelsea take on Middlesborough in our delayed FA Cup fifth round fixture and we need to win this one. Rafa Benitez has confirmed that both Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta are unavailable for this one so I am wondering who YOU the Chelsea fan reading this, thinks should start?
It's sounds ridiculous to say it but anything other than a win would be a disaster!
Coventry City are set to wear their 1987 Retro Shirts in Saturday's FA Cup 3rd Round encounter
with Southampton, to mark their 25th anniversary of their 3-2 extra-time win over Tottenham. So
what has become of the history making men behind their one and only major trophy success.
Steve Ogrizovic GK (54): Oggy as he is known at the Ricoh Arena is still part
of the Coventry set-up where he is currently the clubs Goalkeeping coach.
Barring a minor miracle in Munich in a couple of weeks, Arsenal have only got the Premier League to worry about. It's hard to find any positives in going another season without a trophy, but if it helps us to overtake Chelsea in the race for a top four finish, then the season will not have been a disaster after all.
After a disappointing opening day result with positives at St James Park, Gareth
Johnson shares with THFC1882 his thoughts on the match as he watched from
the stands and what lies ahead this season for us.
The opening day of any season is always special for me.
Ream will battle former Middlesborough phenom David Wheater for playing time at Bolton with
Wheater getting the first call obviously to replace The Overrated Gary Cahill.
In a story heading straight for our 'hell no' files, 27-year-old Liverpool winger and England
international, Stewart Downing, was arrested on suspicion of assault early Sunday morning following
an altercation with a supposed  ex-girlfriend (rumoured to be Donna the doorstep dramatist
Moloney) at the Cross Keys pub near Middlesborough.
Newly-promoted Swansea have completed the signing of Middlesborough striker Leroy Lita
for a fee of £1.75m. Lita (26) who has had Premier League experience with Reading has
scored 20 Championship goals in two season's with Boro and could be a astute signing for the Welsh
club come the end of the season.
Liverpool are ready to step up their pursuit of Connor Wickham by offering £15 million for the
Ipswich Town forward, reports the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old has signed two new contracts this year alone to re-enforce his commitment to the
Tractor Boys.
Tottenham Hotspur were reportedly leading the race to sign Wickham, but now, with Liverpool having
bolstered their attack already this year as they swooped for Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll, it
appears Kenny Dalglish is keen to add another member to his star studded attacking line-up.
Part 2 of the series focuses on Norwegian striker, Jan Åge Fjørtoft...
Jan Åge Fjørtoft became a bit of a cult hero during his time in the Premier League playing for
Swindon Town in the 93/94 season. His fly by celebration became infamous throughout the league.
Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 2-1 win against Reading at Old Trafford to set up a clash with Chelsea should the Blue's take care of Middlesborough in their fifth round tie.
Goals from Nani and Chicarito gave United the lead with James McAnuff pulling one back for the visitors 10 minutes from the end to give United an anxious last ten minutes to wait before confirming their place in the next round of the Cup.
The team needed a lift after results of recent weeks. A 1-0 win is great but coming back from 2
goals down to win it, is surely going to give the team the boost that we so desperately need. A
game of two halves is the old cliche but certainly applies in this scenario.
Former Manchester United and Leeds defender Gordon McQueen (59) has been
diagnosed with Cancer of the Larynx and will have treatment at the James Cook University Hospital
in Middlesborough.
McQueen capped 30 times for Scotland was an inaugural part of the great Leeds
side who won the 1973/74 League title going 29 games unbeaten in the process.
Sunday, 6 November 2005 and it's the 19 anniversary of Sir Alex's appointment as Manchester
United manager but the celebrations were on hold. A look at the league table made grim reading for
any Manchester United fan. An unusual pallid gloom had descended in and around Old Trafford
following the events that had transpired over the seven days preceding a pivotal encounter.
After a meager season, coach Andre Vilas Boas was fired and replaced with Di Matteo as Chelsea
coach. Things have greatly improved under the Italian, who has brought the London side to the
Champions League final, and now to his first title, winning the FA Cup final 2-1 against Liverpool.
The FA Cup is one Di Matteo has helped Chelsea with a lot throughout the years: Roberto di Matteo

If you're looking for a rundown of today's friendlies, we had you covered earlier aside from
late-breaking news that Scott Parker and not Steven Gerrard would be England Captain. But for those
more interested in the latest Liverpool news than watching fearfully through their fingers, worried
that one of Liverpool's players might end the day with an injury they didn't head into it with,
these notes are for you.
England international Stewart Downing has been arrested after allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend
in a nightclub row. The Liverpool star is reported to have punched the woman, with whom he is
thought to have a child. Downing, aged 27, was arrested at the Cross Keys club in Yarm, near
Middlesborough, at about 1am this morning.

Michael Regan/Getty Images(Bleacher Report) Give Me Football confirmed this morning that once again
Stewart Downing is in demand at Liverpool. It has been no secret that Kenny Dalglish is a huge
admirer of the former Middlesborough academy graduate and he is keen to add the England
International to his squad.
As Stewart Downing arrives at Anfield in a £20m deal, the fourth major summer for the Reds in
the present transfer window behind Jordan Henderson, Charlie Adam and Alexander Doni, he has
certainly made it clear he is keen to get on with things.
The former Villa man has featured on both the right and left flanks in his time at Villa,
following his £10m move to them from Middlesborough in 2009 after he saw his boyhood team
relegated to the Championship.
Former Ireland manager Steve Staunton is on the verge of returning to Liverpool in a coaching
role.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish, who took Staunton to Anfield as a 17-year-old in 1986, is
expected to make the announcement on Monday when he travels over to watch a Liverpool XI play Bray
at the Carlisle Grounds.
Manchester City winger Adam Johnson would consider a move from Eastlands, with Liverpool keen to
sign the England international.
The 23-year-old has recently returned from a long-term ankle injury, but with high competition for
places at City, will have few opportunities to impress.
Furthermore the former Middlesborough winger will be looking to get back in Fabio Capello's England
squad, which he was left out of for the double header against Wales and Ghana, and Liverpool could
offer a way out for Johnson.

Billy Sharp put the majority of footballers to shame last night!
In a four week period where controversy over Carlos Tevez reportedly refusing to come on as a
substitute has repeatedly stolen the headlines in the footballing world, Doncaster Rovers star
Billy Sharp earned the unconditional respect of football fans across the nation when he turned out
just three days after the premature death of his son.
Leicester: Having massively overhauled the squad during the summer, signing no
less than nine players, including the marquee signings of Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent, Michael
Johnson, Neil Danns and Paul Konchesky should give the Foxes the quality needed to reach the
Premiership for the first time since 2002.

Blackpool at the KC Stadium. For lower league fans all across the country the time is now upon you
as reality kicks in. Will your pre season optimism turn to a nightmare? Is it inevitable that [...]

Today's football tabloid, Top Skor, suggests that Aceh United are interested in signing for Leeds
United, Newcastle United and Middlesborough striker Mark Viduka.
Now I don't know how much truth there is in that story and I have never met the stocky Australian
striker but the mere thought of Mark Viduka moving to Aceh, with its strict implementation of
sharia law, they have public canings there, has me tittering into me tissues so it does.

You hear stories all the time of cheeky urchins submitting their Football Manager CVs to clubs in the hope of somehow getting themselves an interview. Indeed, when a 25-year-old lad by the name of John Boileau first tried his luck by contacting Middlesborough owner Steve Gibson about their managerial vacancy in 2006, Gibson even sent back a light-hearted 'sorry, you didn't get the jobthis time' letter.
Arsenal traveled north to face a Sunderland club that has seen a resurgence since installing

the three points. Keep reading for all the glorious heart-stopping action.
