Eduardo's most common move, the ankle breaker
This is the most obvious Funny
Feeling Friday selection in history - but the selection completely fits the award for the week - an
unpopular, out of form, or underrated player who we think will perform over the next few weeks.
Couldn't be more obvious: it's Eduardo (7.

After a decade in relative anonymity at the wrong end of the English football league pyramid,
you would think Hull City fans would be enjoying their spell in the limelight. But given the
worrying nature of the headlines over the past few weeks, you could forgive them for wishing for a
return to the peace and quiet of the lower leagues.

He was given a stay of execution by his new chairman but I still fear Phil Brown's days are
numbered.
Adam Pearson returned to the club two years after his departure, replacing Paul Duffen, who saw the
club join the Premier League under his tenure but also accrue alarming levels of debt at the same
time.

Adam Pearson, the new chairman of Hull City, has told manager Phil Brown that he has one more match
to save his Hull City career.
"The manager was expected to be dismissed after the 2-0 defeat away to Burnley on Saturday, but it
seems he has earned himself a stay of execution for one more game at least because of the woeful
performance of Mike Jones, the referee, at Turf Moor.

Just as the referees' apparent lack of fitness stole the headlines in the aftermath of
Sunderland's last game, their latest encounter – and encouraging performance – was lost amongst
the furore surrounding that red balloon.
Journalists, match officials, and former referees were left to scramble through the rule book to
work out whether the goal should have been chalked off, as confusion reigned at the Stadium of
Light on Saturday.

When Steve Bruce ended his playing career, everyone seem to know that the next logical step for him
was to have a career in club management. His no-nonsense and inspirational defender's display was
supposed to provide a springboard for him to inspire, motivate and drive a club forwards as
manager.
Even when other former players are finding the transition to club managers difficult, Steve Bruce
has proven himself to be a very good Premiership-level manager.

12 goals from defense the past two seasons, beat that Vermaelen
Our Funny Feeling
Friday selection this week - an unpopular (by fantasy terms), underrated, or out of form player who
we think will start producing in the coming weeks is Birmingham's central defensive summer signing
Roger Johnson.

Why won't you score?!
Okay, so we are pretty settled into the 2009-2010 season and I am, yet again, having major
issues with my fantasy team. What's going on? How can I have 14 points in one weekend? How can
Michael Turner do so well for Hull and not for Sunderland? How, in the name of all that is holy,
can my captain, Frank Lampard, not have scored a single goal this season?

Thanks to all those who had followed The Flat Back Four on Twitter today. To say that we had a
great time chatting and tweet-ing about possible transfer moves would be stretching it a bit. In
fact, it was quite the opposite. When the expectation and hype gets built up so much and all we get
is a £12m Michael Turner switch from Hull City to Sunderland, then it's time we face the facts and
realise that this is as good as it gets in the Barclays Premier League this season.

So far, there don't appear to be any blockbuster deals in the offing as the end of the summer
transfer window draws to a close.
However, that could very well change in the hours that clubs have left to make moves. But while
there might be a lack of big names on the move, there are still plenty of deals happening right
now, and we've not only got those covered in this evening's roundup, but also in our updated summer
transfer lists.

A rock at the back, what a defender
Sunderland manager Steve Bruce keeps adding quality talent to the squad - bringing in defender
Michael Turner (4.5M) today on the last open day of the transfer window.

the Black Cats lost 1-0 at Stoke this past weekend, things are surely looking up in Tyne and Wear.

And Martin Skrtel is out for at least two weeks with a cracked mandible. Which leaves Rafa
