Liverpool Football Club will this week be heading for South Africa to discover whether the
highly-acclaimed Tactics 4 Families initiative will scoop a prestigious Beyond Sport award.
The program has been nominated for the Sport Team of the Year accolade, and the club recently
travelled to New York to showcase the scheme at the world famous Yankee Stadium as part of the
Beyond Sport United summit during which LFC Family Officer Mark Chester delivered a presentation
about Tactics 4 Families.
Well it's now official. Yesterday was the very last day of the Timbers training for the year.
The guys are now officially on vacation until late January when they have to report to training.
Just about two months worth of time off... I'm not even sure I would know what to do with that time
off.
Anyway, I'm keeping it short this morning as the US-Slovenia game is going on right now.
Football League blog: Leicester loan move is the perfect solution for Manchester City's
Michael Johnson
For the new season, MirrorFootball is teaming up with some of the blogosphere's best new writers
to bring you even more great football reads every single day. Friday is Football League day, so
please be upstanding for theseventytwo.
As last season moved along, a fairly strong consensus formed: Lucas Leiva was the most
underrated player on the squad, and quite possibly the most underrated player in the league.
Opinion, though, can shift, and by the end of the season he was the consensus player of the year
for his club, a starter in midfield for his country, and had won over many of his former critics as
the top tackler across Europe's five biggest leagues.
Jamaican superstar Usain Bolt gained compensation for last weeks
disqualification in the 100m World Championship Finals by taking gold in yesterday's 200m
equivalent, recording the fourth quickest time ever in the process with a time of
19.40, only the great Michael Johnson has run faster 19.
Who's Looking Good?
Leicester: Having massively overhauled the squad during the summer, signing no
less than nine players, including the marquee signings of Kasper Schmeichel, David Nugent, Michael
Johnson, Neil Danns and Paul Konchesky should give the Foxes the quality needed to reach the
Premiership for the first time since 2002.
Will it be West Ham or Leicester for Championship Glory?
The waiting is almost over as the Championship kicks back in to action on Friday night as Hull
face Blackpool at the KC Stadium. For lower league fans all across the country the time is now upon
you as reality kicks in. Will your pre season optimism turn to a nightmare?
The 2011/2012 Championship season gets underway this weekend and in what has become recognised
as possibly the most competitive division in football, it is Leicester City and West Ham United who
are the favourites to win the much coverted price of a place in the Premier League.
Traditionally the hardest league to be promoted from, the Championship has earned the reputation
of being uncompromising, erratic, unpredictable but always entertaining, where any team can win any
game.
Leicester have announced the latest name to join their promotion push with the news that Manchester
City midfielder Michael Johnson will join the club on a season-long loan.
Johnson had been on the wish lists of a number of clubs including Premiership side Wolves and
Championship rivals Leeds but it has now been confirmed he'll spend next season at the Walkers
Stadium.

Inspired by our rediscovery of Neil Shipperley, and his subsequent inclusion on our Top 10 fattest
football managers list, here's a group of personalities who have undergone quite a transformation.
1. Neil Shipperley Where better to start than the man who planted the seed from which this list
grew? Don't get us wrong, the ex-Southampton, [.
Here lies Part 3 of my Football Manager series: Looking back at the time(s) when the
game took over my life. Read Part 1 and Part 2 first.
It felt good I must say. Usually with any new Football Manager game I would have the
tendency to first dip my toe, picking, perhaps, a high end Championship side to build my knowledge
of the game.

Manchester City will try and end Aris Salonika's unbeaten home record in Europe tonight, an
unbeaten streak that stretches back 40-years.
In the Kleanthis Vikelidis Stadium, Aris Salonika have played 24 home games in European
competition, and no team has left Greece with a victory. Can Manchester City end this unbeaten
streak?
To be a footballer would be to live the dream but you do have to make sacrifices. Here are some
who have really taken the freedom of retirement to heart heart disease, that is...
This was prompted by a picture of Neil Shipperly I stumbled across remember him? Battling

According to Stuart Brennan at the Manchester Evening News, 22-year-old Manchester
City midfielder Michael Johnson wants to be loaned out. Johnson said,
"Without saying too much, it's better for me to go and get games now ... Ideally, that would
mean going out somewhere for the rest of the season.

As you may know already the Reserves Team played out a friendly against Leicester City behind
locked doors yesterday. At the same time there are rumours that both teams wants to take City
player Michael Johnson on loan for the season. Unfortunately I guess Championship team Leicester
has the upper hand in that, as the [.
