FC UEFA Cup

We've decided we're going to buy a football team. Maybe a random club in Turkmenistan or something. Firstly, this week we have been linked with a loan move for Chilean striker Sebastian Pinto, a man known as ‘The Tank' in South America.

Having only recently been bought by Brazilian side Santos, Pinto has joined West Ham on trial with a view to a season-long loan having already managed to annoy his new manager sufficiently to be released after just a few short weeks. Click to continue reading...

Observations of England U-21 Friendly Against Slovenia

1
• I was disappointed to see how many empty seats there were at Hull City's KC Stadium. I know this was only a friendly, but come on. These players are the future of England's national team, and the already small stadium wasn't even half-full to watch them.

• I liked the 4-3-3 employed by Pearce. Click to continue reading...

A New Age Beckons

In 1965 these players were plying their trade. Ferenc Puskas, Garrincha, Pele, Bobby Charlton, George Best, Franz Beckenbauer, Eusebio, Johan Cruyff, Alfredo Di Stefano and Gerd Muller. With more than some arguments, from Argentines especially, this could be considered an all time top 10 list. Surely this was the golden age of football, talent wise? Click to continue reading...

Rio Smash!

It seems that Micah Richards isn't the only Manchester-based England defender to be banned from something today (look at that for an example of the seemless linking you can expect from the new and improved thematic STT) as an aspiring national captain has found himself in quite a bit of hot water after his rage at Stamford Bridge near the end of last season.

Who is the one?

Speculation everywhere today on who Sir Alex had in mind in his interview with Sky yesterday about possible summer transfer targets. The Manchester United manager seemed to imply that his shopping list is rather short: in fact, possibly only one player, and a youngster at that.

With Mikaël Silvestre hopefully staying at Old Trafford, SAF doesn't need to consider cover for Wes Brown and Gary Neville at right back, (though I've wanted to see Micah Richards at United for months. Click to continue reading...

£6million for Sidwell

Evening all. Looks like Eastlands new boy Hughes is ignoring Ronaldinho for a bit to focus on a more homegrown talent. Now I believe Hughes can do a solid job at City. He did very well at Blackburn even if he did annoy Fabregas and co doing it. After a dire 0-0 draw in the Fa cup fifth round Hughes said afterward on Fab "He asked me if I had played for Barcelona and when I said yes, he shook his head as if in disbelief.
