The haters of Miami as a soccer town were out in full force last week as it was announced that
fewer than 6800 tickets had been sold for the USA vs Honduras game to be played at Sun Life
Stadium. The game hadn't even been played yet and already they were bashing.
In the end over 21,000 showed up on a wet night to watch the United states defeat Honduras 1-0

We have just confirmed via Jorge Ramos y Su Banda ESPN Radio that Barcelona will play Chivas in
Miami on August 3, 2011.
The rumor had been that Barcelona would meet AC Milan, but it turns out that announcement was
premature. No deal was made so instead it will be Mexico's most followed team against European
giant FC Barcelona.
Today I'd like to reach out to the soccer community for a noble cause. Our good friends at Soccer 5
at Kendall Soccer Park are helping out Jasmine Aleman from FIU and her fellow students who are
putting on a tournament at Soccer 5 in order to raise funds for a life saving operation for a close
friend at FIU who was injured in a horrific car accident.
I hear Don Garber is headed down Miami way to meet with the 12 or so people that feel it is their
personal mission to continually spam his inbox with "MLS TO MIAMI" emails.
Good for The Don, maintaining his reputation as a man willing to engage the people.
But this is so clearly a bone-throwing exercise that it makes me chuckle a bit.
