Football punditry is a cushy number indeed. Apparently, you don't even have to know anything
about the actual footballers you are talking about, particularly if they are "foreign chaps".
From Paul Merson and the Sky Soccer Saturday crew to Match Of The Day's Holy Trinity of
Lawrenson, Hansen and Shearer, ignorance is apparently bliss.

Andre Dos Santos skills
Holy Saint: As per Arsenal, they haven't exactly decided to park the bus come transfer deadline,
and have signed not dos but three players.
Park Chu Young: The South Korean captain from relegated Monaco is a makeshift
signing for Joel Campbell who was denied a work permit.
HJK entertain Schalke tomorrow in the play-off round of the Europa League. Despite the
undeniable fact that HJK are marching towards the Veikkausliiga title, the home tie against the
German giants is an event that eclipses their whole season (unless they make it into the Europa
League group phase of course).

Valencia v Schalke 04
Second Round, UEFA Champions League
Mestalla, Valencia
Tuesday, 15 February 2011
Kickoff: 19:45 GMT / 20:45 CET
Valencia host Schalke in the first leg of their Champions League second round tie.
The UEFA Champions League returns on Tuesday after a 2-month layoff.
Who will take home Europe's biggest club prize this season?
Barcelona? Real Madrid?
How about our beloved Valencia?
Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet. But why not us?
We've been to two finals (2000, 2001), we've won leagues, we've won European cups and we're
currently 3rd in the very tough Spanish La Liga.
The presence of former Real Madrid players Raúl, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Christoph Metzelder on
the Schalke side will "motivate" Valencia when the two teams face off in the first leg of their
Champions League round of 16 tie tonight according to home coach Unai Emery. His Schalke
counterpart Felix Magath, meanwhile, is hoping to see his side score at the Mestalla.

Für das Deutsche Vaterland!
It was wet, humid and dark, but for the television screen glowing. I stood in front of the TV in
my grandmother's home in Johor Bahru, singing along to the German national anthem.
