Right, back to business as usual. Sort of. The game will begin with a minute's applause before
kick-off and both sides will don black armbands in memory of Reds owner Nigel Doughty who passed
away last weekend. Our first action in twelve days thanks to the interventions of weather and our
own rubbishness in the cup, one would hope that the players will be eager to proffer a considerable
improvement over recent encounters [.
It's been a strange few days for Forest fans in the aftermath of the untimely passing of Nigel
Doughty. The elements intervening in the weekend's game gave a welcome break from contemplating our
on-the-pitch troubles and time for reflection time that many Forest fans have put to good
use in raising over £3,000 for ChildLine as a small tribute to the memory of our owner [.
A charity donation website has raised more than £1000 in memory of former chairman and club owner
Nigel Doughty since it was started this morning [...]
Last night Fernando Torres appeared on Chelsea TV's "Friday Night Live" programme where he answered
questions from the fans. Chelsea have kindly uploaded some of the interview to their official
channel on YouTube which I will feature for you here.
Torres was asked about how we is settling in at Chelsea and his relation ship with the fans
below:
In the full interview featured on the official website, Torres said:
'Since I joined Chelsea it has been amazing.

Howard Webb was the ref for the game between Liverpool and Stoke. Was it a memorable game?
Well a game that will not last in my memory [.

What with Liverpool set for their first visit to 'Anfield South' in 16 years by way of their
Carling Cup semi-final win over Manchester City last night, we though we'd revisit the last time
the club earned themselves a day out at Wembley, i.e, the 1996 FA Cup Final against Manchester
United.
Have you ever seen anything like it?
One of the worst first half performances in memory. Newcastle were very impressive, well
drilled, pressurising perfectly, timing their confrontations and ganging up on our players
relentlessly. We couldn't keep the ball. They could, spraying it around and running us
ragged.
Liverpool may be playing Roma this summer at Fenway Park. Who cares. Liverpool or Roma playing
the Chels elsewhere on American soil? Now that's an idea I can get behind.
To be reunited?
The Boston Globe is reporting that they may just happen.
In a short piece touching on the prospect of both Liverpool and Roma touring the United States
during the preseason, Chelsea is mentioned along with Celtic as a potential partner in crime for
this so-called tournament.
When people look back at the 2012 MLS Draft, they will surely look at it as the first draft that
didn't feature a multitude of trades. What they might wind up really recalling of the draft,
however, is the amount of solid MLS talent that was available.
There were no draft pick trades in this year's draft, but teams still came away with some good
talent throughout the league after picking from one of the deeper draft classes in recent
memory.

Our snark radar snapped into high alert last night when it was revealed that Natasha Giggs and
Nicola McLean would be appearing in the UK Celebrity Big Brother house.

Ahead of this weekend's FA Cup games, we thought it only right to bring you just a teeny weeny
taste of the 'Magic of the Cup™' courtesy of one Wayne Hatswell, a name that will live long in
the memory (possibly) a man who, in one moment of pure unadulterated technical incompetence,
smashed home arguably the worst own-goal ever.

I have difficulty with endings. I am not sure that I would like people who handle endings with
detached aplomb. Now that I have used the phrase "detached aplomb', honestly it just popped into my
head, I am wondering if this means I would not like James Bond and why do words such as "aplomb"
stick in my head when I have trouble remembering the names of people I see every day.
LFC fan thankful for cause support
A Liverpool fan who has spent the whole of 2011 raising money for Claire House in memory of his
daughter today paid a heartfelt thanks to the LFC Family for their overwhelming support of his
special cause.

Although the recent rumors (ahem and gesundheit) display the fact the Fire certainly have more
pressing needs personnel-wise this offseason, I am confident those will be addressed in due time.
So I am turning my attention to why the Fire should introduce a good, usable 3rd jersey.
This is something that has to be done right.
Got, Not Got: Damned Utd. vs. Cinderella McKenzie You Shall Be First to the
Ball
Soon after the events of The Damned United, things were all smiles again at Elland Road with
Jimmy Armfield in charge and Cloughie's 44 days little more than a nightmarish memory. Why, just
last week we posted up a previously unseen teamgroup off the cover of Got Not Got, showing joker
Duncan McKenzie toppling over all the legendary bad-tempered hackers and horrors amid a barrage of
gruff chuckles.
Shola Ameobi believes that the Newcastle players will take inspiration from the
tribute to be paid to Gary Speed before Saturday's game against Swansea City. Gary Speed

former great player for Newcastle United, who was much loved in the game.
Andy Carroll, despite being only 22 the type of player/body type who will likely develop and
peak later, rather than earlier, is still heading towards infamy as one of the worst transfer
overpays in recent memory. (Or ever.) The ladies and gents at FIFA 12 have seemingly figured out
why.
Dude just needs a little man-on-man love.
Arsenal are looking to bounce back from a disappointing home draw versus Fulham in Saturday's
Premier League game against Wigan. There was controversy last season when we trekked up to Wigan,
partly refereeing and partly fixture related. If my memory serves, that game was our second in 48
hours, so in order to avoid injuries [.

Despite the memory of the dreadful performance against Leeds on Tuesday evening looming large in my
mind I'm actually quite looking forward to a trip to the south coast this weekend. Admittedly it's
because it's been a while since I've had the thrill of a new ground to tick off the list, but well,
you have to take your pleasures where you can as a Forest fan [.

Danny Califf and Sebastien Le Toux both agree that the hope among the players is that there will
not be as much player movement in the closed season. Le Toux said, "I hope with the good result we

One of the charities I'm hoping to benefit from next weekend's blogathon is Alzheimer Scotland.
There are a number of reasons for that choice but one of them is their excellent Football
Reminiscence Project.
Simply it's a project that put volunteers in touch with football fans who suffer from dementia.
Editor's note: Since the memory of last weekend's Premier League football is still fresh in our
minds. here's a match report of Wolverhampton's win against Wigan — a match of big importance due

When we are faced with writing a "best of" list, we always tend to mention things that are fresher
in our memory, which is why having to write about United's best 10 left midfielders ever has proved
a lot trickier than I had initially thought. This is largely due to the fact that, in 24 [...]
Dear Tony
I have been a reader of your blog for a long time now and if you have an elephant's memory, you

In roughly six and a half hours, the Dynamo will take the field at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park
against Sporting Kansas City with a birth in the 2011 MLS Cup Final on the line. I doubt you can
find many who believed the Dynamo would be in this position as late as August, but here they are
and their run of form at the end of the regular season and in the playoffs clearly shows they
deserve to be here.
Our football memories might just save football from itself. Or, at the very least, preserve
something of its soul and heritage.
A goal, an away trip, a European jaunt? Or maybe the footballing memory helps frame a memory about
friends or family.
Regular readers will know that the Scottish Football Blog is quite the fan of such anecdotal
diversions.

In which, during their 2-1 defeat at LA Galaxy last night, New York Red Bulls striker Luke
Rodgers (once of Notts County if memory serves) almost decapitates a woman sat behind the
advertising boards by petulantly blasting a ball into the crowd as it rolled over the touchline and
missing the lucky dame's head by inches.
