We knew the Melbourne Victory defence, central defence was too slow, too fragile and lacked
Muscat.
And in midfield the pairing of Leigh Broxham and Grant Brebner could never control the game in the
Asian Champions League games - at times the Victory were embarrassing - and these our Aussie
Champions - and this season they've never had the ball, kept the ball or enabled the style boys to
get on the ball.
It was announced today that Spanish defender Ubay Luzardo has joined Melbourne Victory on loan from
Hong Kong's Kitchee SC until the end of the season. Luzardo, 28, who has been on trial with
Melbourne for the past two weeks adds some much needed depth and experience to Victory's defence.
Jim Magilton was happy to have Luzardo at the
Good morning all. I guess don't really need to tell you the importance of tonights game but drop
three points and you can pretty much call it a day for Melbourne Victory. Despite our mathematical
chances of making Finals, in reality its much less promising. To be honest I couldn't care less if
we made
Welcome to Offbeat Wednesday, where we cover the wacky side of football! Today, read about the
German National Team's bizarre new campaign, Mourinho's Carpark 'Me Time', Harry Kewell's Tennis
Day Out and Guti's Holiday!
Now now, don't get all excited! You're not looking at the latest 80′s German pop band founded
by Lothar Matthäus, but it's close to the truth.
Just eight games remain in this regular season and time is running out for Melbourne Victory.
Actually, its felt like a race against time all along as we continue to wait for that elusive
turning point. Well, its now or never as this week is set to be the most crucial yet. Two games

Melbourne Victory announced today that they've secured 26 year old defender, Mark Milligan on a
short-term loan deal from Japan's JEF United, until the end of the regular season. Milligan, who
has previously represented Sydney FC and Newcastle Jets in the A-League says he is looking
forward to playing in his home country once again: "The Japanese season
On Sunday night the floodgates were opened....and completely ripped off their hinges. Melbourne
Victory have put us through quite a lot of pain already this season but it reached beyond
ridiculous in Perth. 4-1 on the night and it could have been much worse. The defence was completely
disjointed. The two centre-halves in Leijer and
Melbourne Victory were worse than ever - and yet that's despite changing the coach.
Kevin Muscat has been told to work on the defence!
He'd be better doing a Paul Scholes and get himself back on the pitch.
Adrian Leijer and Roddie Vargas are not just weak, but have been exposed all season and how is
Leijer a leader.

Good afternoon. We'll start today by wrapping up the week's news and its been a pretty interesting
one. The A-League transfer window opened on Tuesday and Melbourne Victory are said to be keen on
shopping around. Its understood that Jim Magilton wants to bring in a foreign player but there are
some issues stopping him
Thanks to Melbourne Victory Football Club I have one double pass to give away for the big Australia
Day clash vs Sydney FC, next Thursday (January 26) at AAMI Park. To enter, answer the following
question.... Ricardinho is: a) The best player to ever wear a Melbourne Victory shirt. b) Better
than Leandro Love.
Last August Melbourne Victory Chairman Anthony Di Pietro stated that the Club would be releasing
Ricardinho at the conclusion of his loan deal from Parana Clube on December 31, 2011. At the time
Victory were clearing the way for Harry Kewell and needed to free up the International Marquee spot
which Ricardinho occupied.
When was the last time a Canberra team got to a football final, a home final?
Not the Cosmos - remember them?
So when Canberra United walk out for their home semi this weekend Canberra sports fans will be
watching history in the making.
And while the Melbourne Victory will make a very tough opponent, United under new Czech Coach Jitka
Klimkova have lifted to a new level this season.
The Rapids released their preseason plans today. They'll be making two trips, first to Oxnard and
San Luis Obispo in California and second to Hawai'i for the Hawaiian Islands Invitational
Tournament. In between the trips they'll be training out at the Dick. The first day of training is
a week from today, though players report on Thursday for physicals and fitness assessments.
Robbie Slater has taken Craig Foster to task over Fozzie's article/analysis of Melbourne Victory's
Coaching appointment.
Fozzie's article is intelligent, well thought out and something we need in this country - even if
you don't agree with it's sentiment.
It adds to our football intelligence, it makes us think.
The A-League's answer to Richard Dunne If new Melbourne Victory coach Jim Magilton was paying
attention last weekend, he would have seen that the key to success in the A-League is simple: get
out of the way of the opposition and leave them to it. The former Southampton, Ipswich and Northern
Ireland midfielder was on [.

Welcome to the very first Fan of the Month for January, 2012. Melbourne Victory has some of the

The Coach of Sydney FC is a very nice man...or so we're told over and over but after close to three
years in charge the team from the biggest city in Australia flatters to deceive.....no-one.
Season 1: Won the Championship. Fantastic, but they were the most boring team ever to win the
A-League under Vitaslav.
New Melbourne Victory interim coach Jim Magilton isn't just a football manager. He was also quite a
decent player in his day and at 42 years of age he's still got the skills. Here he is wipping in
some nice free kicks that even Carlos Hernandez would be proud of in the Hyundai Football
Challenge last year.
Fantastic game in Melbourne last night. Is it me or does this stadium lend itself to exciting
games. Fast, furious and full of entertainment.
Is it the surface, or the proximity of the crowds?
Harry Kewell was superb in Melbourne last night as the Victory defeated the Jets 2-1.
Returning to his left wing position - wonder what Mehmet thought - Kewell simply did what everyone
knows he can.
Melbourne Victory confirmed today that Northern Irishman Jim Magilton has been appointed the Club's
interim coach, signing a contract for the remainder of the 2011/12 A-League season. Magilton was an
experienced player having represented his country 52 times and played for a number of clubs
including Southampton and Ipswich Town.
Today Melbourne Victory called a press conference to announce that they have terminated head coach
Mehmet Durakovic's contract immediately after just six months. Having produced five losses, six
draws and only three wins, the Board decided to call time on his tenure. Chairman Anthony Di Pietro
said in an official statement: We have given Mehmet
Well, where to begin? The loss last night says a lot about this current Melbourne Victory team and
the situation we find ourselves in this season. So many times the Club have said that there are no
issues in the dressing room and that Mehmet Durakovic is firmly in charge but the problems are
there

American forward Alex Smith returned to action for Wellington Phoenix and scored his first goal of
the season but it was not enough to achieve a result on the road against Melbourne Victory.
After ten games in this A-League campaign we sit 8th on the table with six draws, two losses and
just two wins. When you also consider that the team are playing like shit 95% of the time I think
its fair to say that Melbourne Victory are stuck in a rut. rut noun • a
To build a football brand in Brisbane, the Roar had to win last night. While the crowd had already
halved from 20,000 to 10,000, Roy Morgan found this week that Brisbane is the most watched (TV)
soccer team in the A-League. A shock for Melbourne Victory perhaps.
That was one disappointment from last night.
Today sees the release of Melbourne Victory's first ever iPhone app called The Melbourne Victory

35,000 fans turned up to the quietest Melbourne Victory I've ever heard.
Big Boo to Promoter Lou Sticca. Imagine taking a team to play Celtic, Man United or Liverpool and
saying your home supporter end, The Jungle, the Stretford End or The Kop are not allowed to sit in
their usual places. Call yourself a football fan Lou - think not.

The Los Angeles Galaxy made it 3-for-3 on their Asia Pacific tour, defeating the Melbourne
Victory in a penalty shootout, 4-3, after the teams played to a 2-2 draw in regulation.
The Galaxy trailed, 2-0, but Robbie Keane twice converted penalty kicks to pull the MLS Cup
champions level.
Melbourne Victory and LA Galaxy have played out a 2-2 draw in an exhibition match at Etihad
Stadium tonight in front of 34,608 fans, but an unexpected penalty shootout was scheduled which
Los Angeles won 4-3. Harry Kewell was left out of the squad in order to keep him well rested and
injury free but the main
Today marks the first stage of the MLS Re-Entry Draft, the draft selection where players can be
transferred to other teams if their option is declined by their original team. I'm expecting this
first stage to be fairly uneventful. Montreal might pick up a player or two, but otherwise I'm
expecting most teams to pass as they did last year.
Tomorrow night over 30,000 people are expected to turn up at Etihad Stadium to watch Melbourne
Victory take on David Beckham. No, really. Becks could be playing for Semen Padang FC or Corby
Town and still pull a crowd. The reality is the majority of people attending the match are there
to see David Beckham and Beckham only.

Kevin Muscat wants to be coach of Melbourne Victory.
Just what he is prepared to do to ensure he gets there is unclear. It is also unclear who his
powerful backers are. But they are there and as ABC Offsiders sports commentators noted last week,
they or Muscat directly are influencing the Melbourne Victory Board.
