It is a shame that the only news in Brisbane today on the Melbourne match this weekend is bletting
my Robbie Kruse. It is hardly likely that the Roar will doom their hopes by using the same approach
twice.

There are only a handful of home games left. Currently sitting equal bottom means they are all must
win for Brisbane. Not just for this season but for the future of the club. I am sure it will
continue next year. But in what form is unclear. With much of the squad coming off contract and
Melbourne Heart targeting players like Luke Devere, anything is possible for next year.

Brisbane are using a Wally Lewis voice over for an Ad for Saturday's 6pm game v Melbourne. I saw it
watching the Oman game. Very effective cross-over in this local market. I hope they are getting it
out beyond Fox.
Melbourne is lampooned as the Latte capital.

Well you wouldn't have expected this. Coach McKinna asked Kwasnic, Simon and Mijra to all step up
and score and they did.
On Friday night, Adelaide's Coach Vidmar joked that his side needed to play 4 up front to score.
Well, once his side was down 0-1 to Kwasnic's cracking half bicycle, Melbourne's Coach Merrick
tried just that.

Marco Bresciano has been recalled for the Asian Cup qualifier against Oman at Sultan Qaboos Sports
Complex in Muscat on November 15. Bresciano returns to the squad after a knee injury prevented him
from the recent international friendly against the Netherlands in Sydney and the Asian Cup
qualifier against Oman in Melbourne last month.

'Brisbane boss Ange Postecoglou was frustrated to leave with a point after watching his team
control large portions of the match. "We certainly had enough of the ball and we moved it quite
well"'
Mate, the fans were just bored with the training ground - obvious and predictable passing, that

Melbourne coach Ernie Merrick has described Saturday's 3-1 win over Adelaide as his team's best
90-minute performance of the year and a shining example of the depth the club has at its
disposal.Melbourne's new-look side featured two players who had never started a game for the club
before in Sutee Suksomkit and Mate Dugandzic and both played major roles as the Victory recorded an
eighth straight success over the Reds.

My guess is Melbourne or Sydney now. Melbourne have been able to bar far too many good players. How
do they get them all within the cap. Well of course they don't. Special deals to allow Muscat to be
paid outside the cap because he is really a or the coach - or neither. $1m transfer deals. And wow
2 great Asian players.

KICKETTE 20 October @ 10:53 AM EST
The Board and the FFA made the decisions that impacted the Roar's crowds. The ill disciple against
Melbourne had nothing to do with it! How could it? The poor crowds had already happened.
Why did the crowds fall:
1. Gold Coast - split the Roar crowd and have no fans of their own (FFA have admitted this with
typical club fisted approach ).

The 23-year-old just had the wildest ride of her soccer career to help claim the inaugural Women's
Professional League title in American with Sky Blues FC, and now she's back in Australia trying to
get Perth Glory into its first W-League finals campaign. The Scottish born midfielder has a killer
kick from set pieces, hence the corner she took last week against the Newcastle Jets that ended up
going in for the matchwinner.

How can you not love these guys? That run in the '06 World Cup was a blast.
And led by awesome-dude Tim Cahill the team is going to help out the earthquake and tsunami victims

Not just a neat goal celebration.

It was all done in about 4 minutes. 3 Great goals.
Melbourne had their big game last week. And in front of over 30,000 they just were not there. Kruse
lasted 30 minutes and didn't do much. Towards the end Melbourne gave them a barrage, particularly
Thompson. But Simon Colossimo showed he has earned Craig Moore's Socceroos spot.

It seems things are finally clear.
Although the whole process has made the FFA look both clumsy and devious, the ultimate decision to
delay entry for a Western Sydney team is undoubtedly the correct one. 2010/11 will give the
national body a chance to see how the two-teams-per-city dynamic will work in Melbourne, where the
market is similar, though not exactly identical, to Sydney's.

5,065 turned up in prime game time last Saturday night. Around 2,000 seemed to be supporting
Melbourne. My guess is that most of the others are former Queensland Roar fans that used to travel
to Suncorp.
Any ideas as to why the leading team has no fans?

After a poor start to the season, we can breathe easy again. Two wins on the trot has put
Melbourne a point from first place, though the A-League is so tight this season that we're still
only in sixth place. But it's good to see the team hit some form at last.
With a third of the season almost done, I thought I'd pop in to share my thoughts on how the
mighty Victory are faring this year.

Over the years he is perhaps the most influential player in the A-League. Kevin Muscat - out from
the opening minutes of the season - played 90 minutes last night. And was the difference between
the teams.
Sure it was a lucky goal from Ward on 6 minutes. But that made Adelaide play. And they just didn't
have enough going forward.

The US entered the 2009 Homeless World Cup ranked 32nd in the world and, after finishing 29th in
the 2008 Homeless World Cup in Melbourne, the team was looking to impress this year in Milan.
The first three days of the tournament were dedicated to preliminary pool play.

Perth were up 2-0 for most of the game. Some very poor sighted refing allowed the GC Allstars back
into the game. Is Miron allowed to hung the 4th official?
We like NRL Boss Gallop's take on coaches speaking out - it is OK so long as they don't say the
refs were corrupt. Under that fair rule only one team would have been fined so far and it wouldn't
have been Brisbane fined.

Melbourne paid for not finishing this game off. But Newcastle have shown that Branco Culina has
taken over from Gary Von Egmont as the coach who can get the most out of a team.

Good to see some more news popping up around Australia.
In Victoria, at the Geelong Advertiser, new Victory defender Rita Mankowska has been out doing
player visits. She's come back from the American College system to play for Melbourne this year.
More here.
Further North at the Coffs Coast Advocate, there is even an opinion piece (well it doesn't say
'comment' but implies it) about how there girls should get a shot.

Well Foxtel didn't happen last night. According to their local office the service was out for
Brisbane. So much for Robby Fowler scoring a great goal from his own build up play. And a fabulous
3-3 draw between Adelaide and the Fury. So much for Perth's new players firing and winning 2-1 over
Melbourne.

This news is perhaps not a surprise, but there are many ways to read it.
It is no secret that the FFA favour a second Sydney team, and preferably as soon as possible, but
they have probably been wise to keep the lid on it as yet. None of the bids on the table look at
all convincing, and the more general problems of a second Sydney franchise are not to be
trivialised.

What a game on Saturday night! Probably the most exciting A-league match I have attended in terms
of goals and attacking play. Of course both managers will need to ask some serious questions of
their defences that allowed so much freedom and space to the opposition midfields.
Gary Cole will be madly scouring overseas leagues this week after Victory's defence failed
miserably on Saturday night.

One point from two home games is hardly something to be pleased about, but last night's comeback
draw felt like a win. The revamped back line was quite atrocious at times in the first half, but
tightened up considerably in the second period. Not coincidentally, Melbourne showed a lot more
class going forward after the break.

The A-League is all about entertainment. Miron said this all through his Roar tenure.
Miron and Frank embraced after the game last night. Miron would have known exactly the pressures
the game would have put on the Roar coach.
Miron has proved himself to have bouncebackability. He has looked at the confinements and
limitations of the A-League rules and acquired the best team in the competition - by a wide margin.
