There's been an update on the injury situation with Ryan Taylor and Leon Best today. Ryan
Taylor goes down just before Demba Ba scored yesterday The Newcastle medical team have further
assessed the two players this morning, but Leon Best seems to have suffered some medial ligament
damage in his left knee, and as Alan Pardew mentioned yesterday, that's usually a six week
layoff.
Arsenal can confirm that Jack Wilshere has suffered a small stress fracture to the right foot
which is in a different location to his original injury. He will be reassessed in two weeks by
Arsenal's medical team. If all goes well (keeping fingers crossed), Wilshere might be back in time
for Arsenal's Ides of March schedule.
Morning all.
We'd best start with the bad news this morning and that's Jack Wilshere. He's suffered a 'little
setback' according to Arsene Wenger and although the manager was obviously trying to play it down a
bit, saying he couldn't put a timeframe on it because Jack has to see consultants, the fear is that
this could keep him out for at least 6-8 weeks, if not the rest of the season.
Few stories floating round in the Twitter-verse that I thought I'd comment on in more depth.
Firstly, the guy over at Republik of Mancunia produced one of his periodic stats analyses, with the
goal, I presume, of showing that United have the worst injuries record in the prem. However, in his
analysis, he was forced to admit that we, in fact, have the worst injury record out of the top
English clubs.
Following recent statement regarding Nemanja Vidic's injury status which previously arrived from
the player's agent, Manchester United's manger, Sir Alex Ferguson has now confirmed that the
Serbian international won't be available for the rest of this season.
Fergie revealed that the situation has actually been predicted by United's medical team, stating
that the player will immediately see a specialist and get an operation once the swollen on the knee
gets better.
There was a report before the game last Saturday at Old Trafford, that Coloccini was a doubt
because of a back spasm. Fabricio Coloccini in action on Saturday The news came out just before the
kick-off, and therefore the news wasn't widely reported, but it turns out it was true. And it
turns out that Newcastle's medical team [.
Every Wednesday, we cover the weird and wacky side of football you can't get anywhere else! This
week, read about The Beckhams return to Paris (oo-la-la!), Ronaldo's Gala Night Date &
Schweinsteiger's "tattoo" advise from the Bayern Medical team!
Well, we all know that Germany's favourite son, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has
been sidelined with a fracture on his right shoulder.
Arsene Wenger revealed last week that Jack Wilshere's recovery was going well, and today it has
been reported that the Arsenal medical team have targeted the reserve game against Fulham on
January the 24th as the England midfielders expected return to action. Wilshere announced that he
had finally been able to walk without the aid [.
Full team news for Monday night's game at Aston Villa will be available nearer to kick off but
in the interim, Spurs' assistant Joe Jordan has stated that Rafael van der Vaart is currently 75%
fit as he battles to make the starting XI.
"Rafa trained on Wednesday and from what the medical team are saying he's at 75 per cent," said
Joe.
Injuries never seems to take a break in disturbing Michael Owen's career as another bad news
arrives for the player after Manchester United medical team confirmed that the latest injury the
striker suffered will force him to rest for about six weeks.
This report rises the speculation about Owen's future as talks of his retirement rings louder
especially since there's a big chance that he won't feature much again this season, despite the
fact he might be able to return on Boxing day.
Our very own JULES WHEELER was given a first-look, guided tour of the
Arsenal's new state-of-the-art medical centre. Read her exclusive insight into just how manager
Arsene Wenger has shaped the institution as he bids to gain insight into managing our players'
fitness and how to better cope with the injuries that have blighted us in recent seasons.

Liverpool awaiting results after Steven Gerrard's latest injury setback
• Midfielder photographed on crutches due to 'ankle infection' • Gerrard had only just

the extent of the problem.
Liverpool faces an anxious wait over the fitness of Martin Kelly after he was sent home from
England U21 duty with a groin problem.
The 21-year-old defender played 90 minutes for Stuart Pearce's side as they beat Iceland 3-0 in
Rekjavik in their Euro 2013 qualifier on Thursday night.
But he complained of tightness in his groin afterwards and, after consulting with the England
medical staff, it was decided that he should return to Merseyside as a precautionary measure.
Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna has undergone successful surgery on his broken leg and is
expected to be sidelined for a minimum of three months.
The France international suffered the injury during the Gunners' 2-1 defeat to North London
rivals Tottenham on Sunday.
The French Football Federation revealed later that evening that the defender was set to be ruled
out of action for around 12 weeks.
Another Monday morning and off to work for many faced with the negative banter that an Arsenal
defeat brings. But worse, not just any defeat the Spuds have turned us over, years of disingenuous
crowing at our North London neighbours is coming home to roost today. All that "I can't wait to get
to work" of previous years, doesn't work so well today does it?
The French FA have confirmed that Arsenal right back Bacary Sagna broke his leg in the 2-1
defeat at Tottenham Hotspur and will be out for around three months.
"The France team doctor, Fabrice Bryand, was informed by his Arsenal colleague of an unstable
fracture to Bacary Sagna's right fibula," a FFF statement said.
Unless you've been living under a rock, you have no doubt heard of Jack Wilshere's latest news-
he's a dad! Oh yeah, he got injured, or something.
First of all, congrats to the Wilshere's for one more person with Arsenal DNA making it to this
world. While the fact that Nikola Tesla never got to reproduce but a teenage footballer did saddens
me, it's always good to see one of our players get to experience such a happy day.
The clarity regarding Jack Wilshere's condition seems to be getting in the right direction as
the latest report from Arsenal's medical team revealed that the player have already concluded the
operation on his troubling ankle.
Moreover, the Gunners also informed that because of the operation, the player is confirmed to
take a rest for about four-five weeks out from the playing field, which is a bad news indeed as the
young midfielder won't play until at least late February or even more.

In which Olhanense striker Salvador Agra is knocked completely sparko-doolally in a nasty
collision during his side's 2-1 win over Uniao Leiria in the Portuguese top flight on Saturday,
only to receive the finest pitchside medical treatment available a handful of coarse sea salt
ground into his wounds courtesy of the club's slapstick medical team who dumped him on his head
again one more time for luck before packing him into the back of an ambulance.
Disappointing news arrives from Newcastle United's camp as the club revealed that one of their
new summer signings, Davide Santon is set to take a month rest from the playing field as the
ex-Inter Milan player will be facing a surgery to his knee.
The bad news was reported by the club's manager, Alan Pardew, who looked very worried with his
new player's condition revealing that Santon might be facing a cartilage problem.
Earlier in the week the England boss Fabio Capello criticised the Arsenal medical team over their
treatment of Jack Wilshere. Well today they have hit back claiming that Capello does not know what
he is talking about. Hang on a minute that sounds familiar. World Cup 2010 ring any bells Fabio? A
source at the [.
We all know that footballers get injuries, after all it is part of the game, but over the past
couple of seasons it seems as though the Arsenal players have had more than their fair share. Some
people have questioned the medical team at Arsenal, and it seems as though the latest person to do

Remember the internet joke doing the rounds in the summer about a certain Titus Bramble coming
to the Arsenal? If you missed it some mischievous cove used Twitter to spread the rumour that the
bungling Bramble was on his way to the Emirates and that Arsene Wenger was convinced it was he, not
Per Mertersacker, Gary Cahill, Chris Samba or Phil Jagielka, who was the answer to our defensive
woes.
Thomas Vermaelen faces a lengthy period on the sidelines amidst reports tonight that he needs
surgery on his dodgy ankle. Arsenal defender Vermaelen spent most of last season in the treatment
room and it seems he is destined to sit out once more for a period with the news being broken on
Twitter.
Morning all, sorry about the technical issues if you were trying to get to the site this
morning. Gremlins. And not the cool kind that you get when you make Junichi Inamoto wet after
midnight. Should be cool again now.
And speaking of gremlins, Jack Wilshere has got them in his ankle. Turns out that story
yesterday in the Mirror was on the money, sadly, and Jack confirmed he'd be out for 2-3 months on
his Twitter.
Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott and star goalkeeper Joe Hart have both offered their
backing to the club's reported pursuit of Owen Hargreaves, whose injury-prone background and past
affiliation with bitter rivals Manchester United will make this a shock transfer.
City boss Roberto Mancini has openly expressed his need for another midfielder before the close
of the transfer window and having been linked without success with the likes of Mark Van Bommel,
Wesley Sneijder, Daniele De Rossi, and Fernando Gago, it now appears that the Eastlands outfit will
take a gamble on Hargreaves.
Hello there and welcome to eight days before the transfer window closes.
The focus now is on tomorrow night and the Champions League qualifying game with Udinese. The
team will fly out today, the question is who's fit and who's not. Although nothing's confirmed I'm
not sure we're going to see any of the returns we'd hoped for.
So, here we are after a long, long off-season getting ready for the new one to begin. Just a
working week away from our first game of the season.
There are many adjectives you could use about this summer, none of them terribly positive. In
fact, the most positive thing about this summer is that it's almost over.
Giovanni Trapattoni has been hit with a number of injury pull-outs prior to Wednesday night's
friendly international against Croatia in Dublin.
Everton winger Seamus Coleman left Goodison Park on crutches on Friday night, and while Ireland can
withstand losing players for this week's game, Trapattoni won't want to be losing players for the
key games in September against Slovakia and Russia.
Disappointing news arrives for Liverpool's fans in Asia as they won't be able to see club's
talismanic captain, Steven Gerrard, in the club's upcoming tour at the region as it has been
confirmed that Gerrard won't be joining the team's pre-season there.
The skipper along with the club's manager, Kenny Dalglish, confirmed the England international
absence in the Reds' upcoming scheduled tour to China, Malaysia and Singapore, which will be
starting this weekend.
Yuri Zhirkov has well and truly taken aim at Chelsea's medical team and has more or less confirmed
that he wants to leave the club in order to play first team football. It's the situation with his
"injury" that he has revealed hurt him the most this season, so much so, he doesn't want to talk
about it cause it "hurts".
Youngster Karl Clair has paid tribute to Liverpool's Academy as he prepares to embark upon a new
life away from his boyhood club.
The tricky forward was seen as one of the Reds' brightest prospects until injury curtailed his
development following an appearance in the 2009 Youth Cup final.
Since then the 18-year-old has battled to overcome a serious knee problem and will now attempt to
kickstart his career at Loughborough University's Nike Academy following the end of season tour in
the Caribbean.
Admitting a mistake is something that isn't easy sometimes but not for Manchester City's
manager, Roberto Mancini, who took the blame over his team's latest defeat against Liverpool by
stating that he didn't prepare the Eastalands well enough.
The rich club jeopardize their chance in securing a Champions League spot after losing 3-0
against the Reds on Monday, with all of the goals happened in the first half.
Just as good news looked like arriving for Liverpool, a wave of storm immediately hit the
Anfield based club as injury problems have forced their captain, Steven Gerrard, to end his season
faster.
The news comes what as a shocking one as previously the skipper already recovered from his
injury and look set to comeback, however, not long ago a confirmation arrived from the team's
manager, Kenny Dalglish, stating that Gerrard won't play anymore part this season.
Harry Redknapp has attempted to defuse the row over Aaron Lennon and suggestions that the player
was made to feel like a ‘scapegoat' for Spurs defeat on Tuesday night. Lennon was withdrawn
shortly before kick off and reacted angrily to claims that he had ‘bottled it'.
Speaking on Twitter the player said: "Believe me this is one game I did not want to miss and
still devastated now.
Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has revealed Steven Gerrard has almost completed his recovery
after groin surgery, but he will wait and see whether the club captain will face West Brom on
Saturday.
Dalglish believes Gerrard could play in the match after participating in much of training this
week, but will not take any risks - as he believes there are players in the squad more than capable
of deputizing for at least another week.
So, the blindfolds are whipped off and we emerge from the cellar of the interlull, parched,
unshaven, our eyes squinting as the light of football that people actually give a shit about glints
on the horizon. The shivering and sweating is decreasing with each passing day and I've begun to
adopt a slightly more erect posture having spent ten days cowering in a corner with only a tartan
blanket for company.
If you don't like international games, you will probably not enjoy this post. Just giving you a
heads up.
Netherlands 5 Hungary 3: Euro 2012 Qualifier The Oranje came out on
top of this fixture again after having hammered Hungary 4-0 just last week. They made harder work
of it particularly in the second half which saw seven goals between the two teams.
A positive news arrives from Arsenal's camp as one of their injured player, Johan Djorou, who
previously being rumored to be out for the season, could make a faster come back after confirmation
from the club's official site stated that the defender should only need about a month absence from
the pitch.
