What jumps out immediately is Dudar's marking ability and aerial power, the later of which, given his size, was to be expected.

Cassius Barton and the weirdest football players' baby names

It is rare to see a 20-year-old centerback do well on the professional level, and it's tough to remember many doing well in Major League Soccer, but D.C. United rookie Ethan White has been an exception to that rule, growing into a quality central defense option for the Eastern Conference club.

The San Jose Earthquakes and Philadelphia Union played a game full of controversial cards, including a red card to Union left back Jordan Harvey, back on April 30. Despite going down a man, the Union managed to eek out a 1-0 win on the back of Amobi Okugo's penalty draw and Sebastien Le Toux's successful penalty kick conversion.

As the Union prepare for a derby with DC United, the Philly Soccer Page turned to DC assistant Chad Ashton for his thoughts on his own team, the Union, and how a coaching staff can manage its locker room chemistry.

Brandon McDonald has been traded to DC United for an undisclosed amount of allocation money. The 25 year old central defender joined the Quakes in 2009 after being drafted by the Los Angeles Galaxy. Over 2 and a half season with the Quakes McDonald played in 58 matches, scored 3 goals and had 3 assists.

Just a few hours after announcing the acquisition of Brandon McDonald from San Jose, D.C. United showed they were not done with remaking the squad by acquiring 4-time MLS Cup Champion midfielder Dwayne DeRosario from the New York Red Bulls ...

D.C. United's day of wheeling and dealing just got a whole lot more interesting.

D.C. acquired Dwayne De Rosario from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for Dax McCarty in a straight-up trade on Monday.

It's the second time the 33-year-old De Rosario has been traded this season.

San Jose was able to get their first home win of the 2011 season Saturday night. The Quakes scored 3 goals in 12 minutes and managed to hold on to their second shut out as well despite playing the last 12 minutes a man down.
Columbus had been playing some great defensive soccer recently, but the Quakes were able to exploit some lapses in defense to score quickly and surgically.

In the end, it didn't matter what happened at Broadhall Way yesterday afternoon because Chesterfield secured the League 2 title by beating Gillingham, therefore confirming that the minimum position we would achieve would be 7th. With Torquay also losing in South Yorkshire against Rotherham, Boro's point was enough to earn them 6th position and a playoff tie with Accrington Stanley with the hope of progressing onto Old Trafford and ultimately League 1.

You sometimes hear the phrase "a game of two halves"...well this one was split into thirds, but the points were shared.

Back in the early 90's, McDonald's had an epic ad campaign featuring basketball superstars Michael Jordan and Larry Bird, and in these ads they played H-O-R-S-E for the lofty prize of roadblocked arteries, only on a scale befitting their audacious abilities (both the game and their arteries).

The U.S. staff got its first look at the game venue, the Yongchuan Sports Centre, which seats 28,000. The playing surface looks in good shape and the organizers are hoping for anywhere from 10,000 fans for the non-China games to 20,000 for the China matches. Canada played China at this venue in April of 2010 and there were 22,000 fans in attendance.

It's draft day in Major League Soccer, and once again, ESPN2 will offer coverage of the first round in Baltimore. As in past years, the draft is in the middle of the day, requring working fans to DVR the draft, watch online or follow one of the many blogs that will offer coverage. On Thursday we will offer a business blog of the draft and draft coverage.
