Know Your Opponent: Honduras Edition

Soccer Tickets Online 09 October @ 07:00 AM EST

Honduras is a free republic in Central America. Hondurans are a crafty, productive people with a rich history. The Mayans first settled in the region, Chris Columbus (the explorer, not the director) set foot on its shores, and Spain controlled the country for much of its existence. The tiny nation also once fought a "Football War" with El Salvador.

Public Embarrassment

Welcome to the House of Soccer 02 September @ 09:55 PM EST
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – Facing a one-goal aggregate deficit, the New England Revolution plummeted into a four-goal aggregate abyss before the hour, as Joe Public FC thieved an unlikely 4-0 victory, and advanced Group stage of the CONCACAF Champions League Tuesday night at Gillette Stadium.
Gregory Richardson registered a hat trick (17th minute, 45th minute and 81st minute) and Roen Nelson chipped in with a goal in the 49th minute. Click to continue reading...

Joe Public Downs Revs in First Leg

Revolution Recap 26 August @ 11:00 PM EST

An anemic New England offense rarely threatened Trinidad's Joe Public F.C. and the Revolution fell 2-1 in the away leg of their CONCACAF Champions League Preliminary Round series.

Injuries decimated the Revs offensive options and only a late penalty kick converted by Mauricio Castro allowed them to escape the island nation in a decent position heading into the home leg.

Revs Still Can't Solve Fire

Revolution Recap 09 August @ 11:00 PM EST

An impressive crowd of 19,240 at Gillette Stadium witnessed the New England Revolution take an early lead only to suffer a key ejection, a gaffe by their goalkeeper and a late goal to fall to the Chicago Fire, 2-1, for the third time this season.

Taylor Twellman made his return to the starting line-up and put his name on the score sheet three minutes after kickoff, but a late ejection to Shalrie Joseph, followed by a blunder by Matt Reis and another goal on a questionable play five minutes later allowed the Fire to escape with a 2-1 victory.

NE vs Atlante

Sideline Views 30 July @ 06:58 PM EST
Here we go, with the game to decide the second finalist of the SuperLiga. The telenovela is ending, and Paloma's heart has been broken because she has just returned (from a kidnapping?) to find the love of her life has married. Or maybe it's a lie, but too late, the game is starting.
The announcers focus on the midfield, saying Shalrie Joseph is key for the Revs. Click to continue reading...

SuperLiga: New England Revolution at Chivas USA

100 Percent Soccer 20 July @ 06:56 PM EST

Five changes to the Chivas USA starting lineup from the team that faced Santos Laguna Wednesday (or as one press box observer said, the A team is back).

Dan Kennedy is in goal, while Claudio Suarez and Bobby Burling return in central defense, Cary Talley is at right back and Pancho Mendoza at left back (although he and left half Jonathan Bornstein have been switching off in recent games and presumably could again).

Cristman leads Revs to 2-1 victory over LA

Revolution Recap 05 July @ 10:59 AM EST

Adam Cristman scored his fifth and sixth goals of the season to help lead the first place Revs to a 2-1 victory over the Western Conference leading Los Angeles Galaxy on Friday night. After taking a 2-0 first half lead, the Revolution survived a late offensive push by the Galaxy, and a lucky goal by David Beckham, to escape Los Angeles with three points and further extend their lead at the top of the standings.

Half Time: New England Revolution at Galaxy

100 Percent Soccer 04 July @ 10:35 PM EST

More ugliness for the Galaxy.

The Revs have taken a well-deserved 2-0 lead with both goals coming from Adam Cristman, his fifth and sixth of the year - a career high.

The Revs had the bulk of possession, most of the attacking play and looked altogether the more cohesive unit. The Galaxy could consider themselves lucky not to be down by three after Cristman ripped by Abel Xavier in stoppage time like he wasn't even there and crossed to Mauricio Castro who hit the post from close range.

New England Revolution-Galaxy at Home Depot Center

100 Percent Soccer 04 July @ 09:17 PM EST

The Eastern Conference (and MLS) leading Revolution (9-4-3) visit the Western Conference leading Galaxy (6-5-3) tonight seeking to extend their undefeated streak over L.A. to eight regular season games, a record that dates back to April 2004.

The Galaxy haven't lost an Independence Day game since 2001, however, so it appears something has to give.

Revolution 2, Toronto FC 0: A Supporter's View

Soccer By Ives 02 July @ 04:05 PM EST

There's no place like home. At least not for Toronto FC, which has yet to lose an MLS match at BMO Field. Their record away from home is another story as the Canadians continue struggling when they make their way south.

New England's home form has left something to be desired this season.

Twellman could be available Saturday

Revolution Recap 26 June @ 01:10 PM EST
Taylor Twellman has been back in full training the past two days and could potentially be available as a substitute this weekend. Though he may not be back at full speed after only two days, he certainly showed some good signs, attempting a bicycle kick in a scrimmage between the first team and reserve team and later scoring on a diving header in a drill. Revolution 1, Red Bulls 1: A Supporter's View

Soccer By Ives 20 June @ 11:02 AM EST

Who can figure out the New England Revolution?

The Revs have been one of the strongest teams in MLS all season, but for some reason when they play at Gillette Stadium they have been prone to flat performances. Such a showing came yet again on Thursday, as an inspired and gritty Red Bulls team nearly pulled a rare win at Gillette before settling for a well-earned draw.

Ten preseason stroylines

Welcome to the House of Soccer 22 February @ 08:52 AM EST
If the bustle of preseason player movement is any indication, the 2008 season will likely fail to transpire the same way its predecessor did. After all, with key departures (Andy Dorman, Pat Noonan, and possibly Avery John) and the arrivals of Chris Albright (LA), Mauricio Castro (Honduras), it's fair to say that this isn't your older sibling's Revolution anymore.
