The third-string goalkeeper has returned to his second home in River City.

After making the bench for Wednesday's U.S. Open Cup match vs. D.C. United, Matt Turner has returned to Richmond to join the Kickers on loan.

The road from Foxboro to Richmond should seem familiar for Turner, who has completed several loan spells with the USL side since he latched on with the Revs as a pre-season trialist last year.

New England Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner collected his first professional win on Saturday night, helping the Richmond Kickers (USL) to a 1-0 win over Toronto FC II.

Turner was loaned to the Kickers after the club's usual starter Ryan Taylor suffered a season-ending injury against the Charlotte Independence.

Turner, 21, signed with the Revolution on March 3rd after a successful preseason trial. The rookie spent four years at Fairfield University, serving as the starter for the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Less than 24 hours after David Villa's 50-yard wundergoal that set social media on fire, Revolution goalkeeper Matt Turner found himself on the wrong side of a similar effort on Saturday in USL action.

Turner, who was loaned to the Richmond Kickers for the weekend, was caught out off his line in the 79th minute when Ottawa Fury FC forward Steevan dos Santos launched a shot from the halfway line that sailed over the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
