MLS is almost back, MLS teams have kicked off play tonight in the final week of the former Wizards
season. The next will start up next week and I'll have some final stats from this past year then.
This week, plenty of leagues are coming back from their winter break now, and players are wakening
from goal scoring sluts, including Herculez Gomez and Matt Taylor.
Another week of former Wizards updates. Eddie Johnson did sign with MLS, he ended up going to
Montreal, but the Impact traded him to Seattle for Mike Fucito and Lamar Neagle. Another former
Wizard has a new club as well, as Rauwshan McKenzie has officially signed with Chivas USA after
being on trial with them all of preseason.
In the second round of DFB Pokal, Matt Taylor and Munster look to shock another Bundesliga team, while Andrew Wooten and Sandhausen take on Jermaine Jones and high-flying Schalke.
Fabian Johnson scored again for as all three Americans were victorious in Germany's top-flight, while Matt Taylor scored twice to help Munster stay on course for promotion in the 3. Bundesliga.
Royal-Dominique Fennel and the Stuttgarter Kickers look to continue their unbeaten run, while Matt
Taylor and Munster need a win to return to a spot in the top three places in the 3.Bundesliga.
The 2. Bundesliga kicked off with John Anthony Brooks making his debut for Hertha, while Preston
Zimmerman and Darmstadt got the better of Matt Taylor and Preussen Munster in the next division.
Matt Taylor fed the big bad Preußen Münster today with a goal and, I think, an assist in a home victory against third-place Arminia Bielfeld. It was his fourth on the 3. Liga season. The win allowed Münster to leapfrog its way into second in the league. His goal play starts at 3:04 and the assist in question occurs in the preceding play.
New Preußen Münster forward Matt Taylor wasted little time in flirting with the supporters,
nailing a hat trick (with an assist) in their 4-2 "cup-set" against esteemed DfB-Pokal guests
Werder Bremen. - Greg Seltzer
Paderborn "joker" forward Matt Taylor hopped off the bench when the away team's top gun got hurt
and bagged a pair of second half rebounds to earn a 3-0 win at Alemmania Aachen. The outburst
doubled his season total to four and pushed the Bundesliga-seekers to within a point of first
place.Clip(s) to come.
A quartet of Americans saw action in Germany, with Timmy Chandler, Daniel Williams and Fabian
Johnson helping their teams earn points, while Matt Taylor scored his second goal of the season.
Champions Manchester City beat Queens Park Rangers 3-1 to continue their unbeaten start to the
season, while Andre Vilas-Boas is still waiting for his first win as Tottenham Hotspur manager
after Spurs were held to another 1-1 draw.
The Champions went ahead via a Yaya Touré first-half goal, but despite dominating the game City
were not able to add a second and QPR punished then for that when Bobby Zamora nodded in a surprise
second-half equaliser.
Kevin Nolan gave the Hammer's the best possible start scoring after just a minute before Winston
Reid and Matt Taylor added two more goals before half-time to end any hopes of a Fulham comeback.
Andy Carroll made an impressive debut at Upton Park before an injured hamstring ended his game time
midway through the second-half.
West Ham are back in the Premier League after defeating Blackpool 2-1 at Wembley today in the
npower Championship play-off final.
Ian Holloway's Blackpool had much the better of the opening exchanges, with Matt Phillips
missing two chances, but it was West Ham who took the lead after Carlton Cole nicely controlled
Matt Taylor's pass and slotted the ball past Matt Gilks in the 34th minute.
Matt Taylor deposited into his goal account once again for Preussen Munster, while Royal-Dominique
Fennel and the Stuttgart Kickers dropped a close one to league leader Bielefeld.
Royal Dominique Fennell scored his first goal of the season helping lead the Kickers to victory,
while Matt Taylor and Preston Zimmerman played the full 90 for Munster and Darmstadt.
Royal Dominique Fennell scored his first of the season helping lead the Kickers to victory in the
Stuttgart derby, while Matt Taylor and Preston Zimmerman played 90 in German 3.Liga action.
DC blasts ref in draw with Union. More reaction and quotes from the game. Harrisburg City Islanders
secure final playoff spot. Penn State's Maya Hayes scores hat trick in US win at U-20 Women's World
Cup. More news.
Less a post here more just dawned because of two conversations this morning:
Back on the....
• On Justin Mapp
Made a comment this morning that Mapp is playing very well for the Montreal Impact. Got a lot of
feedback that he was highly inconsistent for the Philadelphia Union last year.
John Anthony Brooks should earn his first professional start for Hertha Berlin, while American
forwards face off when Matt Taylor and Paderborn travel to Preston Zimmerman and Darmstadt.
Steve Cherundolo and Hannover face off against Leverkusen in an effort to keep ahold of their
Europa League spot while Matt Taylor and Paderborn will make a desperate last effort towards
promotion.

Pre-season games are not supposed to be like this. Usually these games are played in blazing
sunshine in front of shirt-sleeved fans, but this was strictly umbrellas, rainhoods and bovril as
the West Ham fans descended on rain-lashed Roots Hall for a trip to the seaside.
West Ham United are back in the Premier League, after Carlton Cole's late strike gave them
victory over a doggedBlackpoolside. In a match that inevitably gets linked with the £90million
that the club will earn from being in the Premier League for a season (and the parachute payments
should the winning team last just one season), it was a match that the Sky hype machine almost
manage to bill as the most important game of the season, but the second most important of the
day.
Jermaine Jones and Schalke look to bounce back from a tough loss to Bayern Munich, while Matt Taylor and Munster have an opportunity to take the top spot in the 3.Bundesliga standings.
Fabian Johnson, Danny Williams and Hoffenheim search for their first points of the season, while Matt Taylor and Munster take on the top team in the German third division.
The German Cup kicked off this past weekend with four Americans in action, but Matt Taylor came up
biggest leading his team to an uspet of German giants Werder Bremen with a hat-trick.
Matt Taylor and Munster will try to rebound against Rostock, while Royal-Dominique Fennell and the
Stuttgarter Kickers search for their first win of the season.
