Can you still really play two sports at the elite level in Australia?
Ellyse Perry thinks so and with great support from Matildas Coach Tom Sermanni over the years she
has done so.
But her recent decision to play cricket for Australia and miss the semi and final of the W-League
season left me wondering where now for Ellyse?
After a sitting down for a chat before the Sunderland match lead to an ultimately disappointing
result while Arsenal turned out much better when taking the week off, there was some obvious
trepidation when it came to our chat with Matilda of the Bolton Offside. But when Tea and Crumpets
heard that fillet steak simmered in red wine, garlic, and vegetable sauce was an option at the
Reebok and that we wouldn't be stuck eating hobo stew out of an old tin can, we figured we might as
well cross our fingers and take a shot at trying to better understand these Wanderers that don't do
a whole lot of wandering any more.
After the Houston Dynamo – Bolton Wanderers match, Matilda and I had the opportunity to speak
to a number of Bolton players and Owen Coyle. Rather than pick out certain quotes to give you,
we've decided to post the entire transcript.

Q:How is the leg and everything?

Q: On your goal, the ball kind of just ran through for you.
Bolton Wanderers have arrived in Florida safe and sound in order to finally kick off their
American pre-season tour. The Trotters first match will be against FC Tampa Bay of the North
American Soccer League, effectively the second division of US Soccer. Bolton are not only the first
English team to play Tampa Bay but any team in the newly established NASL.
With the news that Ali Al Habsi has packed up and moved to the pie factory next door comes a bit
of encouragement to most Bolton Wanderers fans. It's being widely reported that long time Wanderers
servants Ricardo Gardner and Jussi Jaaskelainen have agreed extended deals at the Reebok. Neither
are exactly fresh in terms of age but are willing to prove that they still have what it takes.
Well hello there, blog. It's been a while. I'll be honest, with the end of the season and the
well publicized (bitched and moaned about on Twitter) publishing problems we've had at the Offside,
getting the motivation to write and then sit there for an hour and baby the post until it was
finally up was difficult to say the least.
With a very short yet very miserable road trip over, the Wanderers return to the Reebok on Saturday
to face Sunderland. The Black Cats are one of those very hit-or-miss teams with Bolton Wanderers
(then again, who isn't this season) but with just three matches left in the season, Bolton will
look for as many points as possible in order to ensure a top-half finish.
Galatasaray midfielder Harry Kewell, his wife Sheree Murphy and their adorable bubbas (Taylor, Ruby
& Matilda) enjoyed dinner in Cheshire this evening. Do be sure to follow the lovely Sheree on
Twitter. She talks about how much she hates diets and the gym. That's our kind of girl! Also be
sure to head over to The Style Files we worked a little virtual styling magic on Ms.
As Matilda so eloquently put it in her match preview, Fulham FC ain't nothin' to mess wit' in
the FA Cup. A side that's much more in form in this competition that they have been in the Premier
League this season and have been averaging a goal every 17 minutes at the Cottage in the Cup. The
fixture between Bolton and Fulham is one of only two matches in the fifth round between two Premier
League sides.
Sheree Murphy and her adorable little Matilda did a spot of shopping yesterday at Cricket in
Liverpool. Did Cricket get new bags? This is breaking news at Kickette HQ. Are the iconic leopard
and zebra print bags a thing of the past? Or, seeing as how the web address printed on this bag
goes nowhere, are these old bags?
Three straight games without a goal for the Wanderers going into the match with Wolves. The
prospect of four straight scoreless matches looming overhead as the team's offense was misfiring on
all cylinders.
Wednesday night welcomed Bolton new boy Daniel Sturridge as well as old favorite Lee Chung-Yong
into the lineup.
