Juventus took an important step towards reaching the Coppa Italia final as a returning Martin
Caceres scored a brace to ensure a 2-1 semi-final first leg win over Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe
Meazza. Antonio Conte made changes as noted in the pre-match press conference, with Marco Storari,
Caceres, Simone Padoin, Alessandro Del Piero and Marco Borriello all starting in the 3-5-2
formation.
Inter and Palermo shared eight goals in a 4-4 thriller where Diego Milito netted all four for Inter
at the San Siro. Roma's defence needs to be looked at as they were humiliated away at Cagliari.
Lazio overcame AC Milan at the Stadio Olimpico and the weather managed to play its part as four
games were called off due to the big freeze.
nlike Notts County's kit and Mister, the football term Derby used throughout Italy has largely
diverged from its original English etymology. While fans in the Premier League still expect
two-footed tackles and rabid commitment when local sides meet, some Italian derbies incur little or
in the case of Sunday's meeting between Fiorentina and Siena, no added enthusiasm.
Lecce managed the shock of the round by stunning Inter Milan 1-0, the defeat bringing to an end the
Nerazzurri's six-game winning. Juventus kept their undefeated record intact by defeating highflying
Udinese by two goals to nil in very wet conditions in Turin on Saturday. Alessandro Matri was the
hero on the night as he claimed both strikes.
We are now half way through the Serie A season and the main performance of the week 19 weekend was
Roma's 5-1 win over Cesena on Saturday evening. The Luis Enrique project now seems to be taking
shape. Later that night Juventus won away at Atalanta and with that win were crowned winter
champions. Inter Milan now have won eight games in a row in all competitions after beating Lazio
2-1 in.
Incredible week in Serie A as Inter Milan win the derby for the first time in two years, thanks in
part to a goal from the prince Diego Milito. An abandoned game in Sicily where rain was a winner.
Catania-Roma was suspended with twenty-five minutes remaining. While Lecce, Parma and Cesena
struggling at the bottom of the league all managed to pick up wins and those crucial 3 points.
Another week and another win, as Juventus roll through Novara to keep their unbeaten streak intact.
It was always going to be a tall task for Novara as they entered the Juventus stadium and the home
team was unfortunate to not score more. Although the visitors did have a few chances, this match
was all Juve.
Sunday night Roma won the Derby del Sole at the San Paolo beating Napoli 3-1. Inter Milan won away
at Cesena, Juventus' brilliant start to the season continues and AC Milan won at home to Siena

over.

ended in a 1-1 draw. What a joy to watch and advertisement for Serie A Football around the world.
In other weekly news AC Milan drew away to Bologna 2-2 and Inter picked up a crucial 2-0 win over
Fiorentina.
Another fantastic weekend in Serie A where two fallen giants are struggling. Both Inter and Roma
have been in poor form this season and at the weekend more of the same. At home Inter missed a
penalty and lost to Udinese 0-1 while Roma away to Fiorentina had 3 players sent off losing 0-3.
Friday 2nd December This match day spanned over four days thanks to TV programming demands when
Friday night.

Serie A returned this weekend after the international break and it came back with a bang as
Juventus fine form continued with an emphatic win over Palermo. Inter Milan got back to winnings
way over Cagliari. Finally on Sunday we saw the greatest goal to be disallowed by a linesman who
ruled out Pablo Osvaldo over-head kick when he was onside.

If you are ever planning a party, don't invite Uruguay. They famously scuppered Brazil's World Cup
festivities back in 1950. And, on a much more minor scale, they burst the balloons blown up for the
match to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Italian unification in Rome. It brought the Azzurri
back down to earth after a victory over one of the hosts of next year's European Nations a few
days.

Only eight games were played in Serie A this weekend due to the bad rain in Naples and in Genoa in
which two games were called off due to the severity of the rain. Sadly people lost their lives in
Italy due to the bad weather. So two big games in Genoa-Inter and Napoli-Juventus were called off
and will be played at a later day.
After consecutive hard fought away victories in the Champions league that have left them topping
the group, midweek European encounters have proved to be a welcome break from Internazionale's
disastrous domestic campaign. A 2-1 defeat to bitter rivals Juventus last weekend means that the
Serpenti are flirting dangerously with the relegation zone and a massive eleven points from the top
of the.
UEFA Champions League Recap: BATE Borisov 1-1 AC Milan On Tuesday night Milan secured qualification
to the next phase of the Champions League after their 1-1 away draw against BATE Borisov. Despite
seeing his team qualify with two games remaining, Max Allegri was clearly not content with how
things unfolded in Minsk.
Superior finishing helped Lazio claim a 3-0 victory from a game that was more often than not spent
on the back-foot. The result at Cagliari sees the Biancocelesti move to third in Serie A after an
undefeated October. Edy Reja's men have claimed four wins and a draw from their last five games to
quietly become one of the league's sides and this week's Team of the Week.
Saturday evening in Italy hosted two monumental games as Juventus travelled to the San Siro to take
on Inter, and Milan travelled to the Stadio Olimpico in Rome to face Roma hoping to pick up a win
for the first time since March 2005. AC Milan have started this season in Serie A from the bottom
up but ever since injured players have been coming back especially Kevin-Prince Boateng and Robinho
the.
Serie A Weekly welcomes new writer Matthew Coccoluto to our pages from week to week. Once again the
Derby D'Italia proved to be a good one as Juventus came away from the San Siro with all three
points. Prior to this week, Inter had managed to win only two games while losing an astonishing
four. Juventus were coming off a mid-week win against Fiorentina, their second win in the last five
games.

2-2 at home against Genoa in a brilliant game and Udinese end top at the weekend after a brilliant
home win over Novara Saturday October 23rd There were two games on Saturday evening, the first of
which.
There was some lack of goals in Serie A this week where 5 out of the 7 games on Sunday ended up
0-0. Some of the sceptics will be licking their lips saying that Serie A is a defensive league. 5
Pablo Osvaldo Roma vs. Lazio The opening goal from the Rome derby and it was Pablo Osvaldo with his
4th in 4 games.
Champions AC Milan are back to their brilliant best after an utterly dominant 3-0 victory against
Palermo. Massimiliano Allegri stated prior to the match that Milan had to "get three points" above
all else, but what he got was far more important. Accomplished performances from the midfield new
boys Nocerino and Alberto Aquilani, a stunning comeback from Brazilian Robinho, doubts over
Antonio.
On Friday, Italy will travel to Belgrade to play Serbia in their penultimate Euro 2012
qualification match. The game comes just under a year since the events in Genoa on 12 October 2010
which saw Serbian hooligans forcing the game to be called off, and leading to harsh punishments
being meted out against the Serbian National team.
Once again Serie A did not disappoint this weekend with some cracking entertainment. Roma picked up
their first home win of the season while Napoli won the Saturday night showdown against opponents
Inter. On Sunday Juventus showed they are real contenders, winning under the roof of there new
stadium against champions AC Milan, leaving all Juventi to cheer scudetto here we come.
Serie A Weekly guest writer Michael Moruzzi with a few words on an Inter turnaround in the making
Inter didn't lend themselves to stability during the past two decades. The dogmatic approach to
accumulating silverware – epitomised by Milan and Juventus in the late 1980's and 90's – was
not for them.
Milan recorded their first win in the Champions League this season after they defeated Czech side
Viktoria Plzen 2-0 at the San Siro on Wednesday night. It was not a vintage display by any stretch
from the seven time European champions but it was enough to gain all three points and keep pace
with Barcelona in Group H.
Only 17 goals were scored in the 10 games over the weekend but Inter Milan, AC Milan AS Roma and
Siena picked up their first wins of the season. Juventus and Udinese end the week as joint leaders
being separated by only goal difference. Here is the round up of the weekend's results Atalanta 2-1
Novara Atalanta fine run continue as they dispatched Novara on Sunday afternoon.
The Time Is Napoli! Italy's two premier sides went head to head in the peninsula's showcase match
of Week 2. Both the Partenepoi and Rossoneri earned respectable draws against hotly fancied
opposition in Manchester City and Barcelona respectively midweek, were coming into the Sao Paolo
clash with injury concerns.
Atalanta 1-0 Palermo The lunch time kick off this Sunday in Italy and it was a sole German Denis
goal that gave Atalanta the three points on a game that temporarily halted for 25 minutes due to a
waterlogged pitch after a torrential downpour. The goal game just after the half hour as Denis
broke the offside trap to coolly slot past the Palermo keeper Bologna 0-2 Lecce Leece surprised
everyone.
Let me take you back to November 4th 2010. Napoli played Liverpool at Anfield. Napoli were 1-0
ahead thanks to an Ezequiel Lavezzi goal after 28 minutes and remained ahead with 15 minutes to
play. Napoli fell apart to lose 3-1. The Partenopei could not cope with the Premier League sides
ability to increasing the intensity as they sought to level and eventually win the game.
A cracking match at Barca's Camp Nou, featured a sensational start with Alex Pato 24 seconds in
opening the scoring for visitors AC Milan. The 22-year-old Brazilian Pato raced clear of a static
Barcelona back four, and slid the ball beyond keeper Víctor Valdés giving the Italian champions
the earliest of leads.
Pre-Match Heading into Sunday night's affair, both Palermo and Inter had been making headlines for
negative reasons. Palermo has just relieved Stefano Pioli of his coaching duties before the Serie A
season even began, and Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini was under heavy criticism for his use of a
3-4-3 system that did not fit the players that he had at his disposal.
Fiorentina got off to the perfect start with a 2-0 win over Bologna on a sunny Sunday at the Stadio
Franchi. Stevan Jovetic made his return, missing a year out with an horrific knee injury, and
played alongside Alberto Gilardino in attack. Summer signing Santiago Silva had to do with a place
on the bench after his summer arrival from Velez in Argentina.
The dream of Champions League football this season is over for Udinese as they were knocked out by
Arsenal 3-1 on aggregate in qualifying late Wednesday. First leg action at the Emirates last
Tuesday ended 1-0 to the hosts and Udinese equipped themselves well with the Gunners capitulating
at the weekend against Liverpool for the first time in 11 seasons on their home turf.
Cliché's are, well, clichéd, and even that might be a cliché. They stand as the writing
equivalent of using training wheels, working well enough to "fall back on" and "get the job done"
but preventing any sort of creativity from shining through along the way. Football is full of such
terms, and the 24th Supercoppa Italiana helped to reinforce some of the most popular ones.

Maybe Sampdoria don't want to go down after all For an entire half, Sampdoria-Brescia played out
like a classically dour game between two sides so desperate for points, neither wanted to risk
conceding. Then the 50th minute game and the game exploded, resulting in six goals before the end
of the match.
In a weekend where Bari were officially relegated, Milan took a massive step towards the title,
and Sampdoria , the race for fourth truly stood out as one area of Serie A which is somehow,
improbably, still open.
Three talking points about the matchday, which did much to shape the table in some areas and
completely opened it in others:
1.
