There's a door next to Lampard's crotch. ... Sounds about right.
Today's lesson: Always tip your taxi driver well. Upon experiencing your awesome generosity and
overall wonderfulness as a human being, he just might reveal that he's a season ticket holder and
member of the club's gym, where injured players apparently congregate on matchday.

I admit it. I was wrong. When Fox Soccer Channel announced in the Spring that they had acquired
the US TV rights to the UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons, I recommended to the EPL
Talk readers that Fox should hire the world feed that featured the UEFA commentary team instead of
putting Fox's crew behind the mic.

It all comes down to this for the Fire. They need to defeat the Revs tonight at Toyota Park to
have any hope of advancing to the Eastern Conference Final against Real Salt Lake. Will they do it?
We'll find that out later, but I'll be here to walk you through the whole process with Fire
Confidential's first all-day blog.

Ryan Babel's speculative, yet spectacular drive from 30 yards into the top corner on 83 minutes
looked to have won the match in France on Matchday 4. All sorts of things were going through my
head. "Maybe we can sneak through this group after all," or "FINALLY! We're back on track! We can
do it," [..

The 4-1 thumping of Alkmaar in midweek was an immensely satisfying affair, a triumph of
footballing philosophy over the defensive nous of coaches such as Ronald Koeman, and yet another
demonstration that this Arsenal team is serious about combining footballing beauty with tangible
success.
But prior the the match, there was a definite sense of relaxation amongst the fans, as if the
game really didn't matter, so assured was our progress regardless of the result.

This matchday of Champions League and Europa League has provided us with action and entertainment.
Anyone who said the group stages are boring is proved wrong big time, with big teams slipping, and
small teams fighting, the group stages will be fought to the death.
In the Champions League, Liverpool boss Benitez is risking big with a 1-1 draw against Olympique
Lyon, although the reds aren't out of the competition mathematically, they will need many results
to go their way so that they can go through to the knockout stages.

It took four rounds of play but the Champions League group stages is finally heating up.
If the group stages finished as they are now, then Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Liverpool would
all be playing in the Europa League.
Jose Mourinho and Inter Milan were five minutes away from an 9th consecutive Champions League
game without a win, when two late goals not only gave Inter the win, but also propelled them to
first place in the group.

Arsenal v AZby nineinchmail
There's not much else to say other than that that was a sublime performance by Arsenal. The
trophy draught is frustrating, but honestly, when Arsenal plays like they did last night,
dominating another club through sheer skill, technique, and teamwork, it just reminds me how lucky
I am to root for Arsenal.

Champions League View: Bayern Munich and Liverpool FC could get 10 points and still not
qualify.
An entertaining set of Champions League games threw up some unexpected results, great games and
the odd ninja (but not a very effective one). Almost all of the big names have a chance to reach
the knockout stages, even though the likes of Bayern and Liverpool have made it very, very
difficult for themselves.

Liverpool's chances of advancing to the UEFA Champions League knockout stage are on life support
after the team's 1-1 draw at Olympique Lyon earlier today. With the point from the draw, Lyon
become the first team in the group to advance. Likely to join them are Fiorentina, who sit second
on nine points.

Apologies all, I've been moving house today and cannot get near to doing a full preview of
tonight's game, which starts in a matter of minutes. Suffice to say that a win is actually quite
important given Chelsea's qualification last night (we play Chelsea after matchday 5, and they can
concentrate entirely on that one), and I think we'll get it, 2-0.

AC Milan's 3-2 win in Madrid on Matchday 3 lifted them to the top of Group C and a repeat
success on home soil would take them a step closer to the first knockout round. The Matchday 3

Maybe it was because it looked and felt like Autumn had truly arrived in England (i.e. blame it
on the weather), but Saturday's Premier League matches were the first boring day of the season thus
far in my opinion. Let's hope Sunday's crop of games will raise the bar a little because Saturday's
matches left an unsatisfying taste.
