DC United of Baltimore?

That Soccer Guy 07 October @ 10:07 AM EST

The City of Baltimore has shown interest in a stadium for United. At this point I know United would like to keep the team close to downtown Washington, but at this point the need of a stadium outweighs any other options. The fact that United has had many failed attempts for a stadium, I don't think anyone will be holding their breathe on this one.

JordanCornblog 09 March @ 08:07 AM EST
Check MatchTracker this morning at 11 ET to follow the USWNT vs. Norway in the final game of group play over at the Algarve (where, presumably, it is NOT snowing)! The US is already in the championship game as a result of their two previous wins, however this should be interesting, as they've not seen Norway [. Click to continue reading...

An Elephant Mired in It’s Own Muck

JordanCornblog 08 March @ 05:51 AM EST
That's how Michael Steele has described the Republican Party. I agree that muck is a great way to describe a medium comprised of the detritus of right wing preachers, radio hacks, and turdblossoms.  But it doesn't seem wise for a party that is struggling mightily to find its identity, should choose as its cheerleader-in-chief, someone [. Super Sunday and What G Is

JordanCornblog 01 February @ 08:05 AM EST
First off, is Andrew Card crazy?  He's tweaked about Obama disrespecting the office of the Presidency.  Why?  Because Obama changed the dress code at the White House.  Good grief.  Is that what Andrew Card really thinks?  Is he a grown-up?  (And I loved the comments on this piece ... especially the one about how the [. Sub-Zero Sunday

JordanCornblog 25 January @ 08:15 AM EST
It feels like Alaska here in NH this morning - and so my thoughts turn naturally to Sarah Palin.  She is a busy gal, you betcha. Everyone's read, if they follow her at all, about how she is blaming the press for the public's perceptions of her ... and stepping up to protect her family from [...] Click to continue reading...

Obama Continues to Come Through (and Saturday is Here)!

JordanCornblog 24 January @ 08:22 AM EST
Yesterday President Barack Obama repealed the Mexico City Policy - the infamous gag rule that pulled funding from health care providers who offered (or even just talked about) certain health care options for women.  Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.  Obama's Day Three ... was a mixed bag, reminding me that change is a process [. So Saturday

Saturday morning ... and please remind me to not eat handfuls of chocolate-covered cherries while Watching Rachel Maddow ... and before going to bed!  And I don't mean the sweet syrupy kind - but nice tart ones - delicious, for sure - and probably marginally good for me (yes, I do believe I could make [. Soccer By Ives 06 December @ 07:44 PM EST

All four favorites won their Elite Eight match-ups in today's NCAA Men's Tournament action, setting up a loaded Final Four. Three ACC teams and Big East power St. John's will make up the field that will battle for the NCAA title next weekend in Frisco, Texas.

Defending champions Wake Forest thrashed South Florida, 5-0, as five different goal-scorers provided the difference.

TV Schedule for 2008 Big Ten/ACC Challenge

English Soccer Talk 17 July @ 01:21 PM EST
On April 15, I posted the matchups for the 10th annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge, an event won by the ACC every year so far. Member schools from that conference have gone a combined 56-30 over that span, thoroughly dominating their brethren from the Big Ten en route to the Commissioner's Cup.
You can take a look at that post here (http://englishsoccertalk. Click to continue reading...

The Highest Highs, The Lowest Lows

The Offside - NY Red Bulls 02 July @ 10:35 AM EST

There we were, watching the Bulls masterfully control the tempo of the game, on the road, against a dangerous Chivas squad. Before you can say "here we go again," Kevin Goldthwaite sends a pass somewhere in Conways vicinity, only to have Metro Killer Razov remind us why he is who he is, stuffing a goal past our keeper.

2008 Big Ten/ACC Challenge

English Soccer Talk 15 April @ 03:01 PM EST
The slate of games for next year's annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge was released today and I have to be honest, there's only a couple of big-time matchups and I'm fairly disappointed. In past years, there have been four or five different games that were truly must-see TV early in the season, but that won't be the case this time around. Click to continue reading...

$70,000 study to see if DC United stadium is worth it

My Soccer Blog 28 February @ 09:54 AM EST
The prospect of bringing DC United to Prince George's County in Maryland got a $70,000 boost as the state's stadium authority has order a study to see what impact the team would have on the local economy. Although this study will look at a number of issues, a location for the stadium will not be one of them. Click to continue reading...
