Many coaches have Tampa connections

Against The Run Of Play 09 August @ 03:07 PM EST
Just for grins I thought I would put a list of foreign based coaches with Tampa connections for the Rowdies management to consider as candidates for their first head coach. For those of you who might be bit slow on the uptake, I know that most of these guys are not serious candidates. This is just a bit of fun to kill boredom. Click to continue reading...

Your Questions Answered (Part 4 of 4)

Soccer By Ives 31 July @ 03:35 PM EST

The newest Q&A is up and taking questions, but there was still the matter of the last batch of unanswered questions from the June Q&A. They're finally done and ready to go.

There were plenty of national team questions, including a few about U.S. coach Bob Bradley. There were also questions about journalists, Kenny Cooper and world soccer regions.

Thoughts on Klinsmann and Carver

Major League Soccer Talk 28 April @ 10:29 AM EST

Jurgen Klinsmann and John Carver left their respective jobs within a few short days of one another. While Klinsmann was sacked, and Carver left voluntarily both are bad signs for the current perception of American football in Europe.

Bayern sack Klinsmann

MIKE JACOBS 27 April @ 03:12 PM EST
Juergen Klinsmann, who had been unsuccessfully courted by U.S. Soccer to replace Bruce Arena in 2006, has been sacked from his first coaching job since guiding host Germany to third place of 2006 World Cup. Bayern Munich dismissed Klinsmann on Monday following the latest disappointing result -- a 1-0 loss to Schalke 04. Click to continue reading...

Klinsmann out - let the tizzying commence

Dan Loney Says It All 27 April @ 12:55 PM EST
I'm pretty sure Prost didn't break the story, but that's where I read it first, so he gets the credit from me.
The story, of course, is the de-Bayernification of Juergen Klinsmann. Who the hell is John Carver? (I know, he's the guy properly eviscerated below.) I haven't seen an upstaging this badly since the Who blew the Stones clean off the Rock and Roll Circus. Click to continue reading...

Projekt Klinsmann gescheitert

Bundesliga Blog 20 April @ 06:55 AM EST

The Kinder, Gentler…Ollie Kahn

The Bundesliga Blog | DW-WORLD 23 September @ 08:24 AM EST
I followed Bayern Munich's 5-2 humiliation by Werder Bremen last weekend with strangely mixed feelings.
On the one hand, like most fans here, I relished the spectacle of the arrogant Bavarian giants getting their clocks cleaned at home. On the other, I have young Bayern keeper Michael Rensing in my fantasy football team, and his bad day at the office brought back unpleasant memories from the late '70s of the Bristol Blue Devils being thrashed by the Damariscotta Lions 8-nil –- with yours truly in goal. Chivas USA Coach Joins Bayern Munich

Black Panther 13 February @ 11:10 PM EST
I missed this one from a couple weeks ago. It's nice to see that the league has the sort of coaching talent that someone like Klinsmann would be interested in. The MLS Zone:
Chivas USA assistant coach Martin Vasquez has accepted a position as assistant to Jurgen Klinsmann with German giant Bayern Munich and will be leaving the MLS club immediately, according to a press release put out by the club today.

Quick Notes

USA Soccer Spot 31 January @ 09:43 AM EST
  • Martin Vasquez, whom I LOVED as a player and who helped the United States get its only point ever on Mexican soil (despite having been a former member of Mexican national youth teams) in 1997 has been tipped by Jurgen Klinsmann to join him on the staff for Bayern Munich. Vasquez coached with the LA Galaxy and then moved to Chivas USA when his former Head Coach with the Tampa Bay Mutiny, Thomas Rongen was the inaugural coach for the goats LA team.
