John Nyen on Bolton's season and plight
Bolton's in the EPL "ER" right now...
There are 18 games left to save the season for Bolton Wanderers.
Saving they may need indeed, after momentarily sinking to just near the bottom of the table in
the Barclay's Premier League.
Didier Drogba, Gary Cahill, Andrei Arshavin and Andy Johnson headline the list of Premier
League stars who are out of contract at the end of the season according to Goal.com, and could be
available on a free transfer this summer.
You could put together a pretty competitive side from this list.
Tim Krul is fast becoming one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League. Tim Krul - magnificent
save form Martin Petrov And Tim kept Newcastle in the game yesterday with just a fantastic save
from their danger man, Bulgarian International Martin Petrov. Martin was threatening to score a
few times yesterday, and he got through the [.
It was billed as a match in which the losing manager would get fired, and if that is the case
then it will be a much happier Christmas in the Coyle household this season than the Kean one as
Bolton beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in a relegation six pointer.
The result means Blackburn replace Bolton at the foot of the Premier League, and Rovers will be
bottom at Christmas with only one team avoiding relegation from that position.

With Shay Given out for a month, Brad Guzan gets his first Premier League start, and it's also
emerged this week that the American is in contract discussions with his current deal set to expire
at the end of the season. Jermaine Jenas is out for the season, and with the club apparently on the
hook for his wages the less said about that the better.
Bolton have yet to win at home in the league. Yup, you read that right. They are winless at home.
They've lost 13 of their last 15 league games. 13 of 15! Losses! But we're still backing them to
pull ... Continue reading →

Back in London for a conference and I could not miss an opportunity to see Arsenal play Bolton
tonight at the Emirates. It might just be me, but there is something special going to a match at
night. For some reason the atmosphere is also better under the floodlights. And tonight was no
different.

Bolton Wanderers lifted themselves off the bottom with a deserved win away to
Wigan.
Gael Kakuta has spoken out this week at his lack of first team opportunities so far at Bolton and
it's no surprise really. Kakuta signed for Bolton on a season long loan in the summer hoping to
follow in the footsteps of Danny Sturridge but so far has just been limited to a fantastic debut in
the league cup against Aston Villa where he scored a cracker.
One person that will split opinion amongst Chelsea fans is Jose Bosingwa. Not the best player
defensively compared to others we have at the club, but one of the best attacking defenders, he
seems to have established himself as a first team regular this season under AVB.
It's all very different to last season where there had been constant speculation that he would be
one of the players to leave the club back in the summer.
This young, confident man is expecting a start against his former part-time employers.

Danny returns to the place where he somewhat realized his full potential. Bolton, in a league
free fall, will not be interested in seeing his face again. Well, that is unless he joins Gael
Kakuta in that egregious Wanderers garb on the hosts' side of the stands. Stop day-dreaming,
Owen.
Dreaded
The draw in midweek was a not-so-mild disappointment.
Arsene Wenger asked for more time for his back four to jell together after their shocking 4-3
defeat at Blackburn last weekend and based on the first-half showing against Bolton, a lot still
remains to be desired.
A full week of training for the Gunners' starting back line, which comprises of Bacary Sagna,
Kieran Gibbs, Laurent Koscielny, and deadline day signing Per Mertesacker, appears to be
insufficient as a lack of coordination at the Emirates handed the visiting Trotters some good
scoring opportunities.

Owen Coyle's Bolton lost again, this time at home to new-boys Norwich City, and suddenly the
pressure is starting to mount on the former Republic of Ireland international.
The Canaries were already two up, courtesy of goals from Anthony Pilkington and Bradley Johnson,
when striker Ivan Klasnic was sent off for a rather weak attempt at a head-butt.

for Bolton, but such results should not be taken for granted.

Home to Premier League newcomers Norwich may have been thought as an easy three-pointer
for Bolton, but such results should not be taken for granted.
A trip to a usually hostile Reebok Stadium probably isn't the ideal way to return from and
international break, one which United headed into with great momentum, having put 8 past an abysmal
Arsenal side and 3 past Spurs.
From the side that did so well last season, Bolton missed Elmander, Sturridge, Steinsson,
Holden, Muamba and Lee, bringing in City loanee Boyata as an uncomfortable right back,
Klasnic/Tuncay/N'Gog as poor replacements for Elmander and Sturridge, both of whom left Bolton
without a penny coming in, and Eagles, Reo Coker and Mark Davies filling in for injured or unfit
players in the midfield.
Robin Van Persie smashed in four goals and Ju Young hammered home a hat-ttrick. Alas, not for
the Arsenal. The strikers were last night on international duty for Holland and South Korea
respectively. Seemingly, we will have to wait to see if the frontmen can deliver goals in that
number against Swansea next week.
Jordan Henderson and Charlie Adam scored their first Liverpool goals as the Reds crushed Bolton to
move top of the Barclays Premier League tonight.
The summer signings struck either side of a powerful Martin Skrtel header as the hosts, inspired by
the outstanding Luis Suarez, produced an electrifying performance at Anfield.
Jordan Henderson scored his first Liverpool goal in a 3-1 win over Bolton Wanderers at Anfield, but
insisted Luis Suarez should take the credit for the victory.
The Uruguayan striker did not manage to join Henderson, Martin Skrtel and Charlie Adam on the
scoresheet, but he posed a constant threat and caused a Bolton defence that included
£17million-rated Gary Cahill no end of problems.
Michael Steele/Getty Images(Bleacher Report)The Reds enjoyed finally getting a victory against
Arsenal last weekend, and during they week they advanced to the next round of the Carling Cup.
Bolton Wanderers also advanced this week in the Carling Cup, but they suffered a frustrating 3-2
loss to Manchester City at the weekend.
After playing two tightly-contested matches last season Liverpool scored the winners in the 86th
and 92nd minutes respectively Bolton visits Anfield in hopes of continuing what's been an
encouraging start to the season. Liverpool's had all the success in this matchup over the past few
years, winning the last nine, but with two deserved wins and a hard-fought loss to City last
weekend, tomorrow's visitors will arrive expecting to get a result.

Manchester City continues their fine start in the new season by picking up another victory, this
time edging Bolton Wanderers 3-2 at Reebok stadium, a hard fought yet important victory for Roberto
Mancini's side.
Goals from David Silva, Gareth Bary and Edin Dzeko were slightly enough to collect all three
points as the home team only managed to pull two strikes from Ivan Klasnic along with Kevin
Davies.
Michael Steele/Getty Images(Bleacher Report)Bolton Wanderers play host to Manchester City in less
than 24 hours and with it comes a lot of speculation. Both clubs completed 4-0 beatings of freshly
promoted teams last weekend.
Along with that both teams started the year off at the top of the table for the first time in
years.
Coyle's new signing, whoever that is, will be the star of the season
Top Scorer: Whichever striker Owen Coyle signs
I can't see any of our current attacking options (Kevin Davies, Ivan Klasnic, or Robbie Blake)
making a serious splash in the goals scored column. Coyle has said that he won't give up his bid to
sign a new attacking player and we know that our manager has the ability to turn whatever misfiring
young striker (cough Sturridge cough) he gets on the cheap into a goal scoring machine.
Reo-Coker not putting a foot wrong
The preseason started and ended with a murmur. Just like the 1-0 loss to FC Tampa Bay right at
the beginning, Bolton lost 1-0 to Levante UD at the Reebok. An uninteresting game that saw the only
goal come from Iborra after he tapped in a Ruben free kick that banged off the crossbar.
Quick Reminder, Real Life A hot start to the season seemed to fall apart when rising playmaker
Stuart Holden was injured and Elmander, who started the season blazing hot, cooled dramatically.
Bolton fell to 14th in the final accounting. Much-ballyhooed summer signing MPet (Martin Petrov)
failed to recapture the form he demonstrated in his first season with Manchester City.
Klasnic rolls away after finishing the performance
And the Whites go marching on, on, on through their preseason with an impressive showing against
Bradford City AFC at Valley Parade in front of 295 Wanderers supporters among the 2,943 in
attendance. The 4-1 scoreline provided Bolton with their third consecutive win this preseason.
You've heard all the jokes already, but that won't stop me from making them. Ever since Sam
Allardyce took over at West Ham, it seems that he's been trying to recreate his glory days at
Bolton by snapping up his players from that era. It appears he's now trying to reunite with a
certain Matty Taylor for somewhere in the region of £1-£2.
Two games into the tour of America, Bolton Wanderers come away with a resounding win against USL
Pro (third division) side Orlando City Soccer Club with a final scoreline of 3-1. The match, in all
honesty, was quite boring. Orlando were a tired team as they had a league match just the night
before.
Yes, out of the 30 photos from training in Orlando, I chose this one.
It's no secret that this hasn't been exactly the most exciting summer for the Bolton Wanderers,
and any news is at least vaguely interesting. I mean, I read an interview with the kitman earlier
today. I know exactly how many ankle socks they brought to America.
The Bolton News has come out with info that Zat Knight's good friend Shaun Wright-Phillips wants
to come to good old Bolton Wanderers Football Club. With him, SWP would bring a load of questions
centering around his cost, ability, and how well he would fit into the team.
It's no secret that Shaun Wright-Phillips' wage demands are, to say the least, high.
Ah yes, another witty and original joke over our name. Hilarious, I know. This is why I'm a
blogger. Anyway, I haven't been much of one recently and for that I apologise. Maybe I'll get my
act together one of these days. Maybe. Not to worry though, as there hasn't been much going on.
While some of our players get to lie back and relax during their holidays, others have been busy
representing their country.

O único gol do jogo, foi de Martin Petrov, aos 35 minutos do primeiro tempo, ele que é jogador do
