Arsène Wenger will protect Arsenal's title challenge against further injury by air-lifting
Herita Ilunga from West Ham and then heading over to Real Madrid to evacuate none other than Martin

I can still remember my first impression of Arsene Wenger when he took over as Arsenal manager back
in 1996. He had the look of a geography teacher about him and came across as being very studious. A
few of us in that Arsenal side were of an age where we were set in our ways, but also looking over
our shoulders to see how long we had left in the game.

There is nothing bright about Mark!
Now I am sure he is a smashing chap and all of that but can someone tell me the point of Mark
Bright? How he keeps a job on the BBC (the nation's premier TV network) is beyond me. Is it just me
that notices that most things he says are incorrect?

by Greg Adams When you start to read an article about football and missing links you might be
excused for thinking that it's going to be about Peter Beardsley, Rio Ferdinand, Wayne Rooney or
perhaps even Martin Keown footballers who could single-handedly prove Darwin's Theory of
Evolution. That's not quite what I had in mind.

Since all the papers are quoting this interview with Gael Clichy by Martin Keown on BBC's
Football Focus, I am posting the video here so those who haven't been able to see it can have a
look. Keown interviews Clichy at Highbury Square and talks about the difference between the
Invincibles and this Arsenal side as well as his experience and Arsene Wenger.

Thomas Vermaelen could be the biggest signing we have made in a long time. There I've said it and I
aint taking it back!
Arsenal have been crying out for a dominant defender since the Stone Age. Well, it seems that long
ago since Tony Adams, Sol Campbell, Martin Keown and co were the defensive lynch pins of the side.

by CARL ELDRIDGE MARTIN Keown knows all about making a mistake and leaving Arsenal. He did
exactly that early in his Gunners career and after spells with Villa and Everton came back home to
Highbury to complete a hugely successful, medal-laden career. He left in 1986 when the frugal
George Graham wouldn't pay him what he was worth and returned in 1993 for a fee of £2million.

Morning, I was expecting to have a bit more news about pre-season starting but so far there's
been nothing. Oh well.
Not much going on to be honest but Manuel Almunia is already setting the bar for the season
ahead. He wants us to start well and play more like we did in the second half of last season,
saying:
That is what we need to do from July this year, from the minute we get back for pre-season.

Ex-Arsenal defender Martin Keown gave a complete interview to Sport.co.uk in which he also spoke
about Arsene Wenger's policy to try and win things with the young ones.
When asked whether Wenger is desparate to win with kids, Keown said:
Arsene would love to have £100m to spend on big name players, of course he would.

more point from their last two games to retain their Premier League title. On Saturday they take on
Arsenal at Old Trafford and will be eager to put one over their rivals and wrap the league up in
front of their own fans.

Sky Sports analyst Andy Gray writes in depth about where he thinks both Arsenal and Chelsea go from
here after their defeats in the UEFA Champions League this past week.
It certainly seems that Chelsea will be more in flux, as they are in the position where they are
going to have to initially address the hiring of a new manager - Guus Hiddink has committed to
return to Russia at the end of the season - and look at infusing a youth movement in a team that
has aged over the past 5 years.

There was 55 minutes on the Old Trafford clock when Freddie Ljungberg'a shot was spilled by
Fabien Barthez. The first player to react was Sylvain Wiltord, Arsenal's then record signing, to
slot the ball home with minimum fuss to put Arsenal 1-0 up and ultimately wrap up the Premier

I wrote before that underestimating Hull City would bite us on the arse and that has proved
correct.
Hull City fully deserved the three points at the Emirates and credit is due to Phil Brown and the
Hull players for the way they performed.
Hull were very impressive and they took advantage of a complacent Arsenal side who have to stop
believing that they can simply turn up at the Emirates and wipe teams aside.

It was a fantastic result yesterday. We played some brilliant football and even some Spuds I know
were forced to admit that Arsenal are looking good.
I couldn't resist telling them though that Spurs are the STRONGEST team in the league by far. After
all, they are holding up 19 other clubs!

Phil Senderos has been at Arsenal since 2003 and has never really established himself a role in the
starting line-up.
He is now 23 and still has time on his side, so there is no doubt that he is still improving as a
player and will get better.
He seems more comfortable playing alongside Toure at the back and some Gooners feel that this is
the best defensive partnership at the club.

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford on Saturday to confront Manchester United in the fifth round of the
