25 years ago Manchester United chairman Martin Edwards introduced Sir Alex Ferguson as United
manager and boy o boy was it the best signing United ever made though it wasn't all plain sailing.

1. 'I can't understand the Leeds players.

Sir Alex Ferguson, a man who turns 70 on New Year's Eve, celebrates 25 years as manager of
Manchester United on 6th November (tomorrow), so we thought we'd mark this truly astounding
milestone and all the incredible accomplishments therein with a suitably colossal retrospective
photo essay of the Scot's time at Old Trafford.
Congratulations, Fergie! Now can you please do all us non-United fans a favour and
retire?
Many eulogies are being delivered on Alex Ferguson's 25th anniversary in charge of Manchester
United. And rightly so. His longevity and record are phenomenal and deserve the utmost
recognition.
Just reading Jim White's excellent "Manchester United: The biography" (no, really). Dave
Sexton, who taught Roy Hodgson, has just been dismissed:
For the players, though they liked the manager and admired his knowledge of the game, there was
a sense of anticlimax, a feeling that somehow the voltage about the place had been reduced.
