First is Onstad getting off with just a yellow. It's hard to see how that's not a red, and the Montero yellow is also mystifying.

The Black and Gold will travel to San Jose this weekend for what is called the Night of Champions. The Crew and San Jose Earthquakes will play the first MLS game ever at San Francisco's Candlestick Park. Following that match FC Barcelona and Mexico's Chivas de Guadalajara will face off. The Crew defense dammed up the Rapids offense and the difference in the game was a couple of inches between the two keepers. The United Soccer Leagues has honored Nikki Marshall as W-League player of the week for her three-goal performance in two victories by the Colorado Force.

Marshall scored both goals for the Force in a 2-1 road victory against the Los Angeles Legends on July 14. Three days later she scored winning goal for the Force in a 3-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps.
