It's time for a little overdue wrap up post with the correct answers to the recent quizzes.

Set-piece fail Here's a funny clip from the recent European Under 21 Championships that we missed.
Mesut Özil might have been England's tormentor in the final, but against Spain he was only
tormenting himself. Özil and team-mate Marko Marin could not conjure up a free-kick between them.
They found at a bit too late that they [.

On the left: Werder Bremen's youngster and designated Diego replacement Mesut Özil.
On the right: Mönchengladbach's youngster and designated new Werder Bremen signing Marko
Marin.
In the middle: a ball, put there for a free kick to Germany's U21 at the Euros in Sweden.
Three ingredients to make something special happen are in place.

It has been an interesting week in rumors.
First the managers!
Hoffenheim will say goodbye to Ralf Rangnick because he wants to spend money
this summer. They will then say hello to Jurgen Klinsmann, who is the epitome of frugality. After
all, he only forced Bayern to rebuild it's training facility.

In a week where I have wondered about the potential of defensive creep within the Bundesliga, a
dire 1-0 match took place between Borussia Monchengladbach and Bochum at Borussia Park tonight. In
the first half, Gladbach came out firing on all cylinders and spent the first 20 minutes playing
Bochum off the pitch.

Michael Bradley has found his scoring touch again and all signs are that he is not letting it go
anytime soon. Tonight against 1FC Cologne, he opened up a 1-0 lead for Borussia Moenchengladbach
with a left footed tap from a Marko Marin pass in the 25th minute (see Morin's brilliant run in the
video below).

Bild is reporting that Marko Marin will leave cellar-dwelling Borussia Mochengladbach at the end of
the season. This comes as little surprise, as most of us assumed that unless Gladbach escaped
relegation, the wonderkid would move to greener pastures, especially with his German National team
future to consider.

The Offside 09 January @ 10:00 AM EST
FIFA, ever one to throw the middle finger to convention (See: World Cup 2010), has named their
players to watch in 2009 and done so by listing 13 players, clearly damning them all to a year of
unfortunate suckitude. It is, as one would expect, mostly a bunch of young prodigies and players on
the cusp [.

A must read interview with Hoffenheim's sugar daddy Dietmar Hopp. (Spiegel Online) The swimsuit
edition of the Hoffenheim story. And a small correction: the article quotes Ralf Rangnick as saying
Hoffenheim has the same budget as Energie Cottbus. He was comparing Hoffenheim's wage budget
(€23m) with Cottbus' overall budget (€23m).

Gladbach's victory over the stalwart's of the league, Werder Bremen, gave us a glimpse at a team
that has been revitalized under Jos Luhukay and Christian Ziege, and could well be in for a bright
future. The addition of Michael Bradley added another young international the next day. So what is
it about [.

...you will notice that the league is over and parts of this blog went into collective off-season
hibernation. The parts that were still active had the following to say: Brian resurrected the
Werder Bremen Offside, right in time to cover the Diego to ... rumours. (Werder Offside) Speaking
of Diego: he won't spend his summer in Beijing.

This feature is long over due. Marko Marin is a 19 year old youngster playing for Borussia
Mönchengladbach. He debuted in the Bundesliga late in the 2006/2007 season. He came on as a
substitute in a game against Eintracht Frankfurt and crowned his cameo with an assist, which helped
Gladbach to a last minute 1-1 [.
