So now that the passion/disappointment has simmered a bit after a below mediocre season, I
figured I's sit and look at the team as a whole and write about what I thought should happen for

Erie County Legislators John J. Mills, 13th District, Edward A. Rath III, 15th District, and
Raymond W. Walter, 4th District, were prevented from voicing their opposition to the proposed 2009
New York State Budget at session today. In a procedural move, an item expressing disapproval of
the budget was referred to the Legislature's Finance and Management committee.

As I noted yesterday, we played the Arkansas Wizards today in a scrimmage at our Swope Park
Training Center. The club brought a U-23 team, and we used it as a tune-up with most players
getting a half of game time. Check out the lineups and goal-scoring summary below:

Our KCW Reserve squad took on the University of Creighton today at our Swope Park Training Center,
winning 1-0 on a goal from Ivan Trujillo. Creighton grad Michael Kraus provided the assist after
coming on as a second-half substitute. Our reserves are now 6-0-0 against college and PDL teams in
friendlies, including a 26-1 combined score line.

One night after the first team got back to its winning ways with a 3-2 win over Chivas USA, the
reserve squad took on a group of local college players with much success. The reserves won 4-0, on
goals from Espinoza, Marinelli, Kraus and Pizarro. Jonathan Leathers left the game early in the
first half and colliding with an opponent and cutting his head.

Hold on, it's not that big a deal. According to 3rd Degree, the great FC Dallas blog, the Wizards
have traded one of their international slots to Dallas in return for a 4th round draft pick in next
year's SuperDraft.
So no, not a glamor trade of any kind. It's the second international slot the Wizards have traded
away in the last two seasons.

We're nearing kickoff here at gorgeous WakeMed Park in Cary, NC. The stadium is quaint and well put
together. The field surface looks smooth and short, should be a good night for soccer. Michael
Harrington and Kerry Zavagnin are back in their old stomping grounds, playing just half an hour
(without traffic) from their college home at North Carolina-Chapel Hill.

For the first time in a couple years, the Wizards enter the US Open Cup proper. Tomorrow night they
take on the Carolina Railhawks of USL-1. The last time the Wizards were in the US Open Cup, they
defeated the Des Moines Menace 2-1 before losing 2-0 to Chicago. The Wizards come in on the backs
of their 1-0 win over Real Salt Lake.
