DU wins Sun Belt championship, clinches NCAA berth

The University of Denver women's soccer earned its fourth-straight Sun Belt Conference title, beating the University of Arkansas-Little Rock 1-0 in the finals of the league's tournament on Saturday in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Pioneers earned a trip to the NCAA tournament as a result of the victory; the 64-team bracket will be unveiled at 6 p.

Bast scores twice as Pioneers reach Sun Belt Conference semifinals

Freshman forward Kaitlin Bast scored two goals as the University of Denver women's soccer team defeated Troy 3-0 in the first round of the Sun Belt Conference tournament on Wednesday in Boca Raton, Florida.

The second-seeded Pioneers (15-5-1) scored what proved to be the winner a little more than 31 minutes into the contest, when Bast headed in a pass from senior midfielder Mariah Johnston.

The second-seeded University of Denver women's soccer team will face No. 7 seed Troy on Wednesday afternoon in the Sun Belt Conference tournament in Boca Raton, Fla.

Pioneers clinch Sun Belt’s No. 2 seed

University of Denver senior midfielders Mariah Johnston and Kelli Breidenbach combined for the only goal as the Pioneers shut out North Texas 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium.

In the 20th minute, Johnston dribbled from the right side of the field and fed Breidenbach inside the box for a one-timer from eight yards.

Mitchell scores fifth treble of season, 26th goal of year

Kayla Mitchell scored four goals, including her conference-leading 26th of the season, as the Colorado School of Mines women's soccer team posted its 12th shutout, a 4-0 victory against CSU-Pueblo on Friday in Golden.

The Orediggers have shut out seven of their past eight opponents.

Mitchell gave Mines a 1-0 lead in the 11th minute, when Liz Oba chipped a ball over the CSU-Pueblo defense.
