Finally, Toronto FC have found a way to eliminate a Puerto Rico Islander -terminate his contract. TFC announced the release of defender Marco Velez after 38 appearances for the club. From the Toronto FC Front Office, the team announced Thursday that they have released defender Marco Velez.

To say I was frustrated after Wednesday's 1-0 loss to Puerto Rico Islanders in the CONCACAF Champions League would be an understatement. We dominated them, and were by far the better team. Toronto FC 1 - 0 Kansas City Wizards - Match Report

For the second straight game, Chris Cummins and Nick Dasovic ran the sidelines for us. The sudden resignation of John Carver was the talk of the team before this one - I didn't even get around to a match preview.

REPORT: Toronto's Velez Fined and Suspended

According to ESPN, Toronto's Velez was given an additional fine and match ban for his conduct during last week's game vs CD Chivas USA. In a move sure to rile Toronto FC supporters, Chivas's Eskandarian only received a one match ban.
Here is an excerpt:

"The Major League Soccer Disciplinary Committee announced Thursday the supsension of Toronto FC defender Marco Velez for one game and fined him $250 for endangering another player with a deliberate blow to the head.
