This past week has been a whirlwind for Fire fans. We had the MLS SuperDraft hoopla last week
with a couple of new player signings sprinkled in (Robayo and Puppo). On the heels of that we had a
sponsor announcement and new jersey unveiling. Somewhat lost in the shuffle was the announcement of
the changes to the U.
Oh fuck me. The FA Cup is back.
Now, I'm not one of those EPL-centric, footballing-history-started-in-1992 type people. I just
hate the FA Cup. I hate how misused the FA Cup is in terms of broadcasting (both online and
televised).
Last March I wrote a post about how College Basketball's March Madness is presented in
America.
Steve Fisher has turned San Diego State into a basketball school. On Sunday night, the school
rewarded their head coach by giving him a four-year contract extension. The new contract will have
Steve Fisher working San Diego State's sidelines until he is 70 years old.
Last season, Steve Fisher and San Diego State went 34-3.
Union
CSN is going to show the Union's match against Everton but the showdown with Real Madrid gets
the ESPN Deportes and ESPN3.
The Union's Kevin Kinkead breaks down the team's performance using MLS Chalkboards.
Mark your calendars: The Union are traveling to Harrisburg in August to face the City
Islanders!
I'm a sucker for Fantasy Games that have more of a luck than skill aspect. March Madness is one
of my favorite times of year, even though I don't watch NCAA Men's BB until Championship week.
The US Open Cup bracket presents a perfect opportunity for a pick'em bracket where both soccer
die-hards and casual fans could potentially be on equal footing picking winners for each match
given previous history of low-level upsets and the winner not always being the best team in MLS at
the time (sorry fellow Sounders fans, that's true for the past two years).
Twice a year, fans turn their attention to the "just good enough" teams in their respective
leagues. In the US, every March we glue our collective eyes to the first and second round of the
NCAA tournament, when a slate of do-or-die games offers chances for an upset but also unceremonious
exits. In May, the prospect of relegation looms like a guillotine for European soccer teams at the
bottom of their respective tables.
(I originally wrote this post over two weeks ago. But for whatever reason I sat on it, and
then sat on it some more. It may be a little dated the NCAA Championship game was the worst ever
but Arsenal's continuing incompetence which gave United the title without even playing brought this
back to life.
Yeah, everyone is trying to be nice to Butler. It was a great run and an even greater story. But
at the finish line, Butler choked. Plain and simple. As a result, Kemba Walker and UConn were able
to take home the college basketball national championship in March Madness 2011.
Kemba Walker and UConn played decently well.
This prediction doesn't make much sense because I predicted UConn to win the college basketball
national championship of March Madness 2011 prior to the start of the tournament. I also had Butler
losing in the first round. But now, after watching both teams closely in the tournament, I'm
switching sides and picking Butler to win tonight.
Please go vote for my Coloring book in the finals of Promotional March Madness!!!
All you have to do is like the Lancaster Barnstormers, then like the post about Cylo's Birthday
/ Coloring Book giveaway!!
This is the finals so vote now and make it count. It ends at noon tomorrow!!
Kemba Walker has been the best player in all of college basketball over the last three weeks. In
that span, UConn has won all nine games they have played. Their latest victim was Arizona. With a
65-63 victory on Saturday night, UConn is headed to the Final Four. That makes us 2-for-2 in our
Elite 8 predictions for March Madness 2011.

Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome back into another Happy Hour. It may be Friday, but it certainly

debauchery. Endless pints of green beer, shots of Irish Whiskeys, and a bevy of beautiful women in

Kenneth Faried might play for tiny Morehead State but he's a big name in the college basketball
world. That name got even bigger on Thursday when Kenneth helped lead Morehead State over
Louisville with 12 points, 17 rebounds and one game-saving block at the end to preserve the 62-61
victory. Get used to watching Kenneth Faried play because he's headed to the NBA.
It's March Madness here in the U.S., but let's focus on the beautiful game. Will Nani remain the
main man for United this weekend or will Antonio Valencia steal the limelight on the wing? Will
Rooney, Berbatov, or Chicharito score? ... Continue reading →
Today starts College Basketball's March Madness. Sixty-eight teams due battle over the next few
weeks in a tournament that makes the World Cup seem puny in terms of scale, (but not pageantry or
importance or anything else, mind you). Today, there are 16 games going on. The same amount will be
played tomorrow.
March Madness 2011 begins in just a few days. Over the weekend, the March Madness brackets were
set. Who do you like to win the national championship of college basketball? The official

Earlier this year, Kevin Durant called Jimmer Fredette the best scorer on the planet. Coming
from perhaps the best scorer in the NBA, that's quite a compliment. On Friday, Jimmer Fredette
helped prove Kevin Durant's point. Against the New Mexico Lobos, the sweet shooting guard led the
BYU Cougars to a 87-76 victory with 52 points.
Round of 16 - Feb 15/16 & 22/23; March 8-9 & 15/16
Yet another advantage of being a soccer fan our March Madness arrives a month early. The
knockout phase of the Champions League starts today, with a sweet collection of 16 teams remaining.
If you were one of the fans that was caught up by the World Cup last summer, but haven't watched a
game since Spain-Netherlands, now is the time to tune back in.
The new year is upon us and with the turning over of the calender comes many traditions like
resolutions and eating black-eyed peas. People also like to make predictions or bets, if you will,
concerning things they feel might occur over the coming year. I figured it might be fun to discuss
some bets I think it would be worth placing on the game of soccer in 2011.
