Never gets old, does it? We're finally here, kickoff of the 2013 season. The journey starts in our playoff home away from home, Dallas. Both teams have undergone a number of changes in the offseason, so its hard to get a read on either team. It should be entertaining if nothing else. Kickoff tomorrow is at 6:30pm MST and the game is on Altitude.
For the 16th time in 17 years, the Colorado Rapids host a July 4 match, with the Vancouver
Whitecaps providing the foil this season.
As the holiday approaches, The Tuesday List takes a look at how the Rapids have performed on the
holiday through the years. And, although the game was a day early in 2011, last season's closest
match is included for this comparison.
Colorado announced its TV plans today, and once again their on Altitude. Not a surprise since KSE
owns both the Rapids and Altitude TV. 28 games will air live on Altitude. One game, April 1st, will
be live on Altitude2 which is only available in SD on Comcast. April 1st is a home game against the
Fire though so I'll be seeing it live in person.
The starting right midfielder for the Rapids All-Time Team is Anders Limpar. How Acquired: Signed as a free agent from Swedish side AIK. Years In Colorado: 1999 through 2000 How Departed: Left as a free agent, signed but never played for Swedish side Djurgardens IF
before retiring
Our first international player in the All-Time team, Anders Limpar might be a bit of a surprise in
this position.
The starting left center back for the Rapids All-Time Team is Ritchie Kotschau. How Acquired: Traded Adin Brown, Scott Vermillion, and our 2002 first round pick to Tampa
Bay for Carlos Valderrama, Scott Garlick, and Richie Kotschau. Years In Colorado: Mid 2001 through 2005 How Departed: Traded to Columbus for Cornell Glen.
The starting center back and easiest selection in the Rapids All-Time Team is Marcelo
Balboa. How Acquired: First player ever signed by the Colorado Rapids team, on a free transfer from
Leon in Mexico Years In Colorado: 1996 through 2001 How Departed: Traded to NY for a 3rd round pick in the 2002 draft
Unlike many of the positions on this team, this one was a complete no-brainer.
Two big pieces of news today. first the Rapids officially announced that they'll be back on
altitude in HD this year for 27 games. That appears to be every non-FSC or ESPN game, and the two
ESPN games will be rebroadcast on Altitude. When the games overlap a Nuggets or Avalanche game the
game will be on Altitude 2.
Altitude announced Tuesday that it will broadcast a total of 27 Colorado Rapids regular season
games during the 2011 season.
Game coverage on Altitude will begin on Saturday, March 26, as the Rapids take on their
conference rivals, Chivas USA live on Altitude 2. Altitude will be broadcasting 25 live games
including 13 roads matches, as well as an additional two telecasts on instant replay via an
agreement with ESPN, all in high definition.

1. With a new coach in place, there's an awful lot of uncertainty about what's to come. I
think it's best if we just get the obvious, can't-miss prediction out of the way: Our coach
will wear slacks for the first time in nearly five years.
2. Most pundits are expecting a Bradley-type lineup today, since it's Klinsmann's first game
and he'll be feeling things out.

We have reached the conclusion of the 19th edition of the World Cup. The end of a World Cup always
feels like the end of a long vacation; returning to reality is tough, but there are plenty of great
memories. With no place else to put these, here are some random parting thoughts on the 2010 World

The political landscape surrounding US/Mexico borders and legal and illegal immigration is
surrounded by strong emotions, loud arguments and both educated and ridiculous opinions.
Luckily, this is a soccer blog, not a political blog. My opinions on the US/Mexico immigration
issue are not the focus on this post.

While the match between the MLS All-Stars and Manchester United on Wednesday July 28, 2010 at
Reliant Stadium is the focus of the MLS All-Star festivities, there are other events leading up to
that match worth checking out if you're in Houston.
One such event is the MLS All-Star Celebrity Soccer Match, which will take place on Tuesday July

Amusingly enough, no team making a conference switch has ever failed to win in the first round,
since MLS moved to this current format which everybody loves. Kansas City beat Chivas USA in 2007
before falling to Houston, New York made it to the final in 2008, Salt Lake of course won the final
last year.
Paulo Araujo Jr's debut for Real Salt Lake was one of those story book, fairy tale, once in a
lifetime type of situations. Paulo, Loaned to RSL for the rest of the season came into the Concacaf
Champions game versus Toronto in the 74th minute making an immediate impact as he scored 6 minutes
after entering the game to leave the final tally at 4-1 in favor of RSL.
