After the 35th round of Brasileirao, one thing is clear: the champion will be red and black. The
only thing that remains unclear is if it will also carry the white of Sao Paulo, or it will have
just the two colors of Flamengo.
The two sides took advantage of Palmeiras' tie against Sport and look ready for the title.

Denial
Although Real Madrid needed five goals to overturn their Round of 32 tie with Alcorcón, a
certain sense of denial was important in this particular situation so that they could believe that
their task was not impossible. Kaká stated, "For the pride and for the history of Real Madrid,
we have to win this tie.

It goes without saying that we completely understand the (somewhat unhealthy) craving of owning
a glam and blinding engagement ring from the footballing man of your dreams. Having a high cash
value prize to sport on your finger is a lovely way to seperate yourself from those that have to
work for a living or clean their own houses.

Real Madrid's 0-4 calamity at Alcorcan, a wee club from the suburbs of the same city, is my
highlight of the week. Oh to have been an ADA fan that night! Here's the awesome fortress of the
Santo Domingo (cap. 4,000) and the Real lineup that made history: Dudek; Arbeloa, Albiol,
Metzelder, Drenthe; Diarra, Guti (Gago 46'), Van der Vaart, Granero (Marcelo 63'); Raúl (Van

Without Cristiano Ronaldo, the Merengues lacked creativity and an attacking spark.
Karim Benzema and Kaka both had an unmemorable outing. It was the supporting cast of Granero,
Marcelo and Raul that provided the threat and in the second half Royston Drenthe had his
moments.
Pellegrini turned defensive with Lass and Alonso creating redundancy in the holding midfielder
positions, with Alonso a bit more adventurous.

I've just watched the Sevilla v Real Madrid game, and it was a bit of a cracker, as was expected.
The game may prove to be significant in various ways this season, but anyone watching can have
little doubt as to the wonders that La Liga will have to offer this season. A two-horse race?
Forget it. More like fools and horses - the fools being those that write off Sevilla, the horses
being the chaps who occupy the left side of Real Madrid.

Funny thing happened on the way to the battle of the unbeaten between Barcelona and Real Madrid
next month. Someone forgot to tell Sevilla who beat Real 2-1 win at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
tonight.
Without the services of the injured Cristiano Ronaldo, Real seemed to lose its attacking swagger
that has carried it so far this season, and instead the attention was focused on Madrid's poor
defence.

The Galaxy's 2-0 loss in Columbus earlier today (more on that later) has given Chivas USA the
opportunity to pull within one point of their intrastadium rivals with two games in hand. But they
need to win today to accomplish that.

If Villarreal continues their poor run of form, El Madrigal will look similar to this on match
nights.
After another underwhelming performance in a 0-2 loss to Real Madrid at El Madrigal on Wednesday
evening, Villarreal currently sits in 18th place with only two points from four La Liga
matches.

Edson Buddle made it two in the 83rd minute, stroking home the ball from seven yards out off a
one-time pass from Landon Donovan who had tapped along a low David Beckham cross. That's Buddle's
fifth goal of the season and his second in two games.
The Galaxy should have scored more, Beckham most notably squandering an opportunity in the 80th
minute after Chris Birchall had again set him up with a pass from a long Landon Donovan cross field
ball.

Ok, Marta throwing a baseball at a LA Dodgers game is pretty random. They
should've included a bonus round with Mickey Mouse Beckham as he
elegantly manhandles a Javelin. What a spectacle that would've been.
On a more serious note, Pele will officially announce Marta as a Santos player
in the squad's attempt to win the first ever female edition of the Libertadores

The game was a little boring and regular but at least it's a win, the best part was chillin' with
the NYC MADRIDISTAS as we welcomed a few new faces and smoked a few Honduran cigars at
halftime.

Galaxy 0 Chivas USA 0
A typically, tight derby although both teams exchanged chances, especially in the opening 15
minutes. Chivas USA ended up out-shooting the Galaxy 8-3 though, which had Bruce Arena up off the
bench and pacing early.
Both sides served up too many aimless long balls or inaccurate crosses, however, something that
was emphasized when Maykel Galindo was sent through twice in quick succession just before the break
with low, purposeful balls.
