MADRID —Soccer legend Diego Maradona is a grandpa (or "abuelo" as they say in his native land). The current Argentina national team coach became a grandfather when his youngest daughter Giannina, 21,  gave birth baby Benjamin Aguero Maradona was born at Madrid's Monteprincipe hospital on Thursday.

Yesterday former France international Christian Karembeu arrived in El Salvador to support the Fútbol Forever Foundation, which is an organization that attempts to keep underprivileged kids away from gangs and violence through soccer. He's going to visit a couple of soccer schools, give talks at some local private universities, and participate in the Independence Day celebrations.

We announced today our annual 6v6 indoor soccer tournament, Copa D.C. IX, has sold out. It's a riotous good time, with the winner takig home $3,000. The tournament takes place at the Rockville SportsPlex and is open to the public.

My money is on 'Charm City FC.' Why? Because that's the best name.

Charm City FC defeats La Mara - who had previously won the tournament for eight consecutive years - in a barn-burner championship match that saw the final scoreline stand at 3-2. CCFC has said they'll be back next year to defend their title and I'm sure La Mara will want to recapture the title!
