As our own malcontentjake and countless others have demonstrated repeatedly, the numerical
shorthand for soccer formations which we're all accustomed to (e.g. 4-4-2) is almost completely
useless. Whether you have a 'band of 4' defenders or a 'band of 5' is much less important than what
those defenders are doing at any given time.
Geylang is perhaps the most down to earth place in Singapore. It's where people cross the road
before the light turns red, cyclists brush pedestrians aside on the footpath and the hookers
brazenly display their ways along the lorongs and in the coffee shops.
Into this world have come two former Arsenal trainees, Oliver Nicholas and Rhema Obed who have hit
the east after failing to make the grade in England.
Johan Cruyff. Who doesn't know him. People all over the world know his name ( and can't
pronounce it). He revolutionised football as a player, as a coach and as a union-leader ( of
sorts). Now, he wants to put Ajax back on the international map as an executive.

Arsene Wenger continues to stick by Andrei Arsharvin despite being a serial under achiever in his
three years at the club. Kedah management seem to be thinking that after four games their two
Brazilian imports aren't up to the mark. One hasn't played yet but I guess that's just a minor
detail.
The manager says the team 'play well so far' but they can't find the goal.

Get Real Everyone knows that the transfer window is silly season in football, with clubs
overvaluing their players, agents hawking out their stars to all and sundry, and the tabloid
newspapers sticking a pin in a map and guessing which players are going left, right and centre. The
People newspaper has excelled itself this morning, [.
Amare Stoudemire was out due to injury and the New York Knicks were on the road to take on the
Sacramento Kings. It turned out to be a walk in the park for the Knicks, who rode Carmelo Anthony's
23 points, seven rebounds and five assists to a 114-92 win.
The Knicks also got 22 points, seven rebounds and three blocks from Tyson Chandler, while Landry
Field chipped in with 21 points and five rebounds.

Damn boy... bout time to see him finally make it back stateside. The ex-Hoosier who skipped MLS to
go to Holland to develop his game, bounced around and after rumors were floated last year that he
might come back (salary differences were the contention point supposedly)he's here. This kid was
shaping up to be one of the future forwards of US Soccer, and fell off the map.

Revealed: The truth about Arsenal's injury woes
There is a league table which puts North London back on the map. Sadly, for Arsenal and
Tottenham, it's not exactly the Premier League. But, reassuringly, Manchester United are in the top
three. The Physio Room is a fascinating website and it goes into detail about every Premier League
team's injury list.

Down, down, Dnipro on down Dnipro 1-0 Fulham (25:08:11) Fulham took 67 fans to their Europa League
game with Dnipro, Eddie Freemantle was one of them... If you look at a map more than 25 years old,
you won't find Dnepropetrovsk, as the conurbation of more than a million inhabitants was a closed
city under the Soviet regime because of its nuclear, ballistic weapons and space rocket building.

Graham Zusi has received quite a bit of attention recently. He was just named MLS Player of the

was impressed by how humble and realistic he is about himself and his situation. Graham shared with
us his thoughts on Sporting KC, his future and how he spends his free time.

Here's the fourth of our five previews of the upcoming European season, brought to you by Bill
Turianski of Bill's Sports Maps. This time the focus is Italy's Serie A but the concept is the
same. Bill has put together a chart detailing each Italian club who is taking part in European
competition as well as a map of every Serie A club.
The fans of Persis Solo, known as Pasoepati, have had a miserable few years as their team has all
but fallen off the football map. While their team withers away they have taken to following Solo
Ksatria in the Liga Primer Indonesia and, as is their want, following them in big numbers.
Tomorrow expect to see some Pasoepati in Jakarta as several of them will be heading to the Bung
Karno to, hopefeully, see Indonesia defeat Turkmenistan and make it to the next round of the World
Cup qualifiers.

Not good for the Thais is it? The slenderest of leads to take to the middle east, defeat against
Palestine would cap a memorable period in Thai football, coincidentally under FA boss Worawi
Makudi, when they have failed in the SEA Games, the Asian Cup, the AFF Cup and now this?
