The Beeb’s Andy Brassell Talks Bundesliga Transfers

Bundesliga Talk 18 August @ 01:48 PM EST

I had the opportunity to speak with Andy Brassell of the BBC's excellent World Football Phone-in on Up All Night. I want to emphasize that for those of us who follow the Bundesliga, this show, although based in England, can be a massive resource. Tim Vickery, with his knowledge of South American Players, and Andy with his knowledge of the continental players as well as the Bundesliga itself can aid us in getting to understand new players to the league.

The Set: Borussia Dortmund 1-0 Köln

Bundesliga Talk 14 August @ 08:23 PM EST

I missed the first round of games on family vacation. While I still have the Gladbach-Bochum game on DVR to watch for fun, my first game of the season, albeit delayed, was Dortmund's 1-0 victory at home over Köln. It was a thoroughly deserved victory where Dortmund put the Billy Goats to the sword and could have easily won by half a dozen goals, so commanding was their display.

Atléti arrive in Åland

Nordic Fotoball News 27 May @ 05:28 AM EST

ÅLAND'S archipelago is a beautiful place in summer, a holidaying hotspot and a major attraction for visitors to Finland. You can cycle across the islands, swim in the Gulf of Bothnia, or stay at any one of numerous campsites in Finland's autonomous province, but it's safe to say that Atlético Madrid will be doing none of those things during their visit.

Atletico Suspends Two Players

Futbolita 30 April @ 12:13 AM EST

Atletico Madrid have fined two of their players - and don't worry, it ain't homie Kun Aguero. You know he's capable of being suspended just for talking to Maradona on the phone. And the text messages they probably exchange.... let's not go there.

Anyway, the players who're in hot soup are Maniche and Seitaridis, seen 'celebrating' in the photo above.

Will Atletico Madrid ever going to be a big team?

Soccer Pie 12 January @ 12:01 AM EST
Atletico Madrid are still unable to make that final step that is required in order to compete with the best teams in Spain. A lot of money have been invested in the team over the last few years and the fans have great expectations year in year out but something always go wrong. According to the names in the squad Atletico should be able to enter even the title race but that is unlikely to happen this season as well. Click to continue reading...

Arsenal - Porto Match Preview

Morning all. We've got the Champions League again tonight and I'm pretty excited about it. Not only is European competition great to watch but it gives us another chance to rebound from the defeat to Hull before we play in the league again. It's FC Port tonight, a Portuguese team known for producing great young talents such as Deco, Paulo Ferreira, Ricardo Carvalho, Maniche, Costinha, Benni McCarthy, Jose Bosingwa and Ricardo Quaresma, and won't be an easy match to say the least. 08-09 CL Group Stage Draw

Group D:
Liverpool

It doesn't seem like much is going to come easy this season. This is without a doubt the hardest group in this year's draw, and the hardest group Liverpool's been in since Benitez became manager.
