While I usually need no excuse to head into NYC and down a few pints, this past Satuday I had best
excuse of the year. That's right! If it's December, it means it's time to celebrate the great You
Suck Corrales' birthday. A few of us got together at The Dublin House, on Manhattan's upper west
side, to drink up in honor of the greatest Red Bulls fan ever.
The U.S. team got a special opportunity to visit the 9/11 Memorial in Manhattan on Monday morning,
spending an hour touring the site (PHOTOS).
After a short briefing, the team posed for a photo in front of the Survivor Tree, the lone tree
that wasn't lost in the attack here 10 years ago.
"It was really a special opportunity for us," said Tim Ream, who's uncle was inside the Pentagon
during the attacks on Sept.
Seen strolling along Madison Avenue in Manhattan last night, New York Red Bulls player, Thierry
Henry, hit up Dolce & Gabbana's Fashion Night Out party freshly shaven. EDIT: Henry, along with
model Tyson Beckford, were actually the event hosts! RAWR x 10 + YumSquared.
Jozy Altidore loves Justin Beiber. Well, not really, but he's definitely an admirer of the
singer based on one reason: Altidore has seen Beiber play.
Watch the above interview with Altidore, who is now in Holland with his club team AZ Alkmaar.
The interview was conducted by comedian Mark Malkoff, who achieved worldwide media attention by
living and sleeping in an IKEA store in Paramus, New Jersey for an entire week.
Jurgen Klinsmann's first meeting with the American media as U.S. men's national team coach is
minutes away.
Klinsmann will be fielding questions from the press at Niketown in Manhattan at 10 a.m., where
he will undoubtedly touch on a number of subjects in his first public comments since being hired on
Friday.
With the 2011 MLS All-Star Game set for Wednesday at Red Bull Arena, we at SBI will be helping
soccer fans in town for the festivities enjoy their time in in the area by throwing our first
All-Star Bash on Monday night at Legends in Manhattan (6 W. 33rd Street, across the street from the
Empire State Building).
It's a smooth move from Will's Woody Allen flick Top 5'er (What? No NSC reader love for Bananas?!?
Shocking!!). We go straight into the card for the third New York Kicking & Screening Festival,
which will take place in Manhattan from July 20-23.I had a blast at the inaugural Amsterdam version
- even if my foosball offense was short of form.
By Cesar Diaz – NEW YORK, NY (Jun 24, 2011) US Soccer Players -- On Wednesday, June 22, 2011, the
Steve Nash Foundation hosted their fourth Annual "Showdown in Chinatown" 8 v 8 soccer match at the
Sarah D. Roosevelt Park located at Chrystie St. & Staton St in Manhattan. This year's Showdown in
Chinatown event featured an All-Star roster that raised funds for The Steve Nash Foundation and its
work with underserved children.
The 2011 Gold Cup Final is set for Saturday night at 9pm, and unless you're one of the lucky
thousands who will fill the Rose Bowl to watch the USA take on Mexico, you will need to find a
place to watch the game on Fox Soccer Channel.
If you will be in the New York City area on Saturday, SBI will be hosting a Gold Cup Final Watch
Party at The Football Factory at Legends in Manhattan (6 W.
If you were in New York City during the summer of 2004 you remember it as the moment Reggaeton ate
Manhattan. It was all Daddy Yankee & Tego Calderón, all the time. And I mean all the time. Sh*t
was as omnipresent as bodega's, tourists, yellow cabs and James Iha south of 14th St. But then,
mercifully, it went away.
Did y'all see Rafa's new spot in Chelsea yet? Dude is living. I know TiTi's ass castle in Soho had
a higher price tag but this place has 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths. In Manhattan that is just an
unheard of amount of space, usually reserved for the Mayoral residence or the house from The Royal
Tenenbaums.
