Business as usual at the Old Firm
Luis Suarez has apologized, Kenny Dalglish has apologized. Both have exhibited sociopathic
behaviour for the last two months which has brought much opprobrium on them and the club. But at
least their apologies should be taken in good faith.
Here we are not 24 hours later with Richard Williams still milking it for all its worth.

The scoreline does not reflect how good Man Utd were or the dire Liverpool performance
especially in the second half. That was on the pitch as the rest of the world tuned into the Luis
Suarez vs Patrice Evra telenovela.
The Manchester side came to play football while the Reds came to do, well, whatever Luis Suarez
wanted to do.
szólj hozzá: Chelsea v Man Utd 3:3 MOTD
This was one of the most gripping matches in the season. United improved immeasurably when Paul
Scholes was introduced in the 64th minute, one of the key moments of the match. On the other hand,
Andre Villas- Boas went negative when he took Daniel Sturridge off for Oriol Romeu in the 71st
minute playing it safe protecting a 3-2 lead.

The subtext was Luis Suarez watching from the stand with Patrice Evra getting booed by the
Anfield crowd and all the lovely chanting between the two sets of fans about the existence of
racism. At the end, the Reds had the greater satisfaction of beating Utd, the second Manchester
club to suffer at their hands in three days.
Arsenal come to their match with United battered and listing badly
Thomas Vermaelen is a last minute decision, Thierry Henry has a "calf" problem, and Mikel Arteta
will definitely sit out the match. A full starting squad is out with injuries, yes, there are
eleven out. The most in the Premiership.
The Bedfordshire regiment play soccer with the Germans, Christmas Day 1914
Truth is stranger than fiction. Liverpool are to host Man Utd in the FA Cup 4th round at the end
of the month in a potentially explosive match that could see many sources of conflagration from
fans, players, and even the managers all centered around the Luis Suarez vs Patrice Evra racism
row.

Vincent Kompany should never have been sent off. It wasn't a blind lunging two foot tackle which
could have harmed Nani. He actually goes low to corral the ball with his right instep and gets it
very cleanly. There was little contact.
Chris Foy really made a royal mess.
Paul Scholes is back to Utd
Man Utd is making Rob Smyth eat his words. Wayne Rooney has scored two including a penalty and
Danny Welbeck's wondrous volley rounds of the tally.
Vincent Kompany was sent off in the 12th minute for a two footed tackle on Nani which got the
ball but not the man however Chris Foy, who else (memories of the Spurs vs Stoke match linger on)
thought differently.
Wayne Rooney isn't going anywhere from the swamp
Wayne Rooney on Twitter:
" The independent are talking absolute rubbish my future is with Manchester United and the
club and I are totally commited to each other."
This was in response to a James Lawton's article which speculated Rooney's relationship with Sir
Alex had suffered a complete breakdown and there was talk he was to be sold this January.

David De Gea's horrendous flapping at a corner led to Grant Hanley following up on his header by
bulling through to the ball again for Blackburn's winner and his debut Premier League goal. It was
a shocking win for the cellar dwellers and it completely knocked the sails off the celebratory mood
enveloping Old Trafford before the game on the occasion of Sir Alex's 70th birthday.
szólj hozzá: Man Utd v Wolves 4:1 HIGHLIGHT
Wayne Rooney scores his first goal since Occupy Wall Street which happened last century. For
Utd, Wolves were the perfect antidote to the stench enveloping Old Trafford in the wake of their
ignominious exit from the CL this week. They're keeping it close with City who face Chelsea this
Monday in a huge match.
Channel 5 is not engulfed in self congratulatory happiness at the prospect of showing Man Utd

Greg Louganis doing a belly flop and coming up purple in embarrassment.
FC Basilisk turns Man Utd to stone
Thorsten Fink, the present Hamburger SV manager must have felt chills going up and down his
spine today as his former club, FC Basel dumped Man Utd unceremoniously out of the Champions
League. You read that right. Last year's finalist crashed and burned out in the group stage.
Halloween came early to Old Trafford
City fans would like nothing more than Sunday's humiliation of Utd to signal a shift in the
balance of power. Pundits are already debating its merits. 6-1 is a historic statement and the
margin could have been even larger if Edin Dzeko had been on target in his first few attempts.
A double order of Freis? That's not what Utd ordered but were forced to eat anyway
What a comeback from both FC Basel and Man Utd! Full marks to the Swiss team for not getting
overawed by Utd's overwhelming Champions League record at Old Trafford.
Danny Welbeck's consecutive finishes a minute apart from each off Ryan Giggs's visionary passing
and it appeared a cool winning result would be in the bag.
A bit of this will not hurt Arsenal
Five matches into the season and a perfect record. An outpouring of 21 goals with just four
conceded. And the latest, a win over arch rivals Chelsea by a 3-1 margin. Utd are already
separating themselves by their intimidating performances.
His side's effervescent start is still not enough to make Sir Alex happy.

Spurs came to Old Trafford having not won there since 1989. For about 60 minutes both sides
created little with David De Gea providing a moment or two of nail biting stuff. The sight of Edwin

goalie.
As Bashar Al Assad looks on Mourinho scoops dirt out of Tito Vilanova's eye
There has been much talk of a Jose Mourinho return to the Premiership after his Real Madrid
spell. It has been fueled partially by conjecture but mostly by the man himself who has talked of
the emotional pull of his days at Chelsea.

Man Utd again pulled out a trademark late winner and for the second weekend in a row bailed out
David De Gea, who Sir Alex has tapped to fill the giant shoes of Edwin Van Der Sar.
This time it was a low angled shot by debutant Shane Long which De Gea should have safely
covered.
According to several tabloids and not so tabloids, the Inter midfielder might be on his way to
Old Trafford in the next 48 hours. The rumours have been aided and abetted by Sneijder who in an
interview admitted he was interested in joining Utd but also said that there was no official
contact between both clubs.
We waited and waited: Samuel Beckett did write about this though
Man City showed us two ways they could score goals. A clever set piece and an open field
piledriver which David De Gea could have stopped.
United showed a dozen ways. The equalizer was initiated by Tom Cleverly and what ensued was an
intricate web of passes with preternatural positioning involving Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney, and
Nani as they wove their way around a tightly packed City defense.
Eric Cantona is not a big fan of City's approach to the sport. City has been neglecting its
academy the same way Real Madrid has turned its back to their legendary cantera. The Man Utd legend
was in Manchester to promote the NY Cosmos which will participate in Paul Scholes's testimonial
this Friday.
Before anyone says "WTF happened?"
Man Utd's team cobbled together the youth brigade and a few veterans with Fabien Barthez
installed as custodian in a match organized by Pascal Olmeta for his children's charity. Tom
Cleverley, Danny Welbeck, Chris Smalling, and Phil Jones with veterans Park Ji Sung and Patrice
Evra gave a pretty decent account of themselves in the first half against an Olympique Marseilles
boasting their regular starters.
Ji Sung Park had the goal of the match. Man Utd showed flashes of brilliance in their short
passing game leading to Anderson's opening goal. David Beckham had a couple of long distance salvos
against his former club. Anders Lindegaard had to come up with a very good save to deny Beckham.
The MLS All Stars could have at least claimed a goal through Omar Bravo but the Mexican striker
missed an easy chance on a rebound.
The Sounders made a match of it till halftime only down by a Michael Owen goal. After the break
they pulled a number of their starters as Utd introduced Wayne Rooney and Ji Sung Park to the
attack. Utd got going as Rooney scored a hattrick and then with eyes at the back of his head
assisted on a Ji Sung Park goal.
The Sun reports Man Utd are in advanced negotiations with Inter over Wesley Sneijder with his
signing expected within the week. David Gill, Utd's CEO did not accompany Man Utd on their US tour
staying back to tie up the last details before Sneijder is announced. Inter have settled on £35m
as his transfer fee.
The Premiership champions show they mean business as the Aston Villa winger is the latest to

Arsenal's position vis a vis Samir Nasri is weak. He's obviously after more wages and with a
year left in his contract, the club gains nothing for him once he leaves on a Bosman. There are a
couple of different options a.) Give him the money he seeks, extend his contract but build in some
performance clauses b.
Patrice Evra acting as an instigator (what's new?) encouraging his France team mate to dump
Arsenal and come aboard a "winning team" like Man Utd has generated an expected reaction.
These maybe alarmist words but with Paul Scholes retiring and Ryan Giggs approaching the
twilight of his career Man Utd are looking to replenish their midfield.
The ginger haired maestro retires after spending 17 years as a Red Devil where he clocked 676
appearances and scored 150 goals. His career will continue as a coaching assistant He will join

Throughout his years Scholes proved to be an excellent goalscorer despite his shifting roles
within the squad.
Man Utd were the real caricatures in the final
In a nod to the Guardian one will attempt five things we learned from the Man Utd vs Barca
Champions League final which will for obvious reasons not go down as a classic. It takes two teams
to make one. And I will clench my fists a la Sir Alex and resist the urge for redundancies
like, " Messi is a genius.
The suspicion that the Premiership was fought amongst a group of 30 lb lightweights and won
depending on who blinked first was borne out today.
If this does not convince football at its core is a team sport than nothing ever will. The match
was over minutes into the final although Man Utd might point rightly to Rooney's superlative finish
as evidence to the contrary.
Wembley was a happy hunting ground for Man Utd in their first Champions League victory in 1968
when they beat Benfica, 4-1. Bobby Charlton with a brace, George Best, and Brian Kidd scored for
Utd while Graca pegged one back for the Portugese giants.
Best was a thorn dazzling with his footwork and Charlton was a sublime finisher.
A bold, decisive signing as Atletico Madrid's David De Gea is signed for £17m as replacement
for the retiring Edwin Van der Sar. The amount paid for the 20 year old sensation is the highest

De Gea according to Sir Alex has all the leadership and organizational attributes of Van der Sar
and the video clip above seems to show he has the reflexes as well.

Kick off time for the Fire's July 23rd friendly against the eventual Premier League champions
Manchester United has been moved from 7pm to 4pm. World Football Challenge event organizers have
decided to move the start up for a reason and I'm assuming it's not to announce the Fire have
signed Wayne Rooney after the match.
Nani scores a superb goal in the 3rd minute and Man Utd fans look for a real spanking. Surely,
Dimitar Berbatov and Wayne Rooney would get on the act. But Wolves fight back through a couple of
set pieces. George Elokobi scoring his first Premiership goal followed by Kevin Doyle's deflection
of a set piece past Van der Sar.
