Goals:Rooney 47' 50'
Suarez 80'
The worst possible result. Not just a loss, a deserved loss – self-inflicted thanks to a feeble
30 minutes after the restart – but continued, probably increased, focus on the Suarez-Evra
contretemps thanks to each acting like spoiled children.
Manchester Utd has expanded its growing roster of global telecommunications sponsors by penning a
deal with Globul, Bulgaria's second largest mobile operator.

The Return of Luis Suárez - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Ahead of the Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur match on Monday night, we look at the return of
Luis Suárez and how Liverpool have fared in the Premier League in his absence.
Luis Suárez returns to the Liverpool squad for Monday night's game at home to
Tottenham Hotspur following a much publicised eight-game suspension.
Keep calm and carry on isn't just a greetings card company, it's a quintessential English saying
that Oxlade-Chamberlain adheres too.... In an interview with Sky Sports, The former Southampton
Academy graduate stated that, "I have to keep my feet on the ground and keep working hard." An
attitude most 18 year olds may push aside [.

Players disrespecting referees is a big problem in many European leagues. Not so much in the
Bundesliga, though. Image: THOMAS KIENZLE/AFP/Getty Images.
While everyone in England was caught up in the now traditional FA Cup bicker-fest, the rest of
the European Leagues had a peculiar stillness about them this weekend.

For the second match in a row: *shakes head* Football, man. Football.
A first half set play goal, followed by increased United pressure and the inevitable equalizer
following a defensive mistake. In a 4-1-4-1 formation with Carragher holding in midfield, Liverpool
were unable to settle on the ball, in a typically frenetic no-holds-barred cup game.

My earliest memory of Manchester United was the 4-5 home defeat on 1st February 1958 which I
watched from my usual position on the corner to the right of the North Bank. At the time it was
called the best game ever seen in an English League fixture. It was the last game that United
played in England before the fateful Munich disaster, only five days later, in which twenty three
passengers and crew were either killed or died later from injuries sustained in the crash, among
them were eleven United players and staff.
On this week's show we feature the phrase 'to make a comeback'
At this point only World Cup success eludes him. But Leo Messi has done enough to earn himself a
place in the pantheon of the greats. He was awarded the trophy by O Fenomeno looking none
the worse for wear for someone recently recovering from dengue fever.
Messi beat out Cristiano Ronaldo, the Liga's top scorer last season, and his Barca team mate
Xavi.
On Tuesday night, a Liverpool side minus Luis Suarez and with Andy Carroll playing up front got
spanked 3-0 by Manchester City.
On Wednesday night, a sparkling Newcastle side spanked Manchester Utd 3-0, with Demba Ba, their
Senegalese striker, scoring an absolutely splendid goal.
With every game that goes by, Andy Carroll (£35m, 4 goals in 23 appearances) looks more and more
like a white elephant and his replacement in the Newcastle number 19 shirt (£0, 15 goals in 19
appearances) looks increasingly like the steal of this or many another season.

In this week's review of the footballing action, we congratulate Manchester United, wonder about
Luis Suarez and look on in shock at the Dutch Cup.
Why Suarez Must Succeed with Not Guilty Plee
It is a sad day for football and, indeed, for society too. Luis Suarez has been charged with
racist conduct towards Manchester Utd's Patrice Evra, and if he is found guilty it could set an
entirely new and unwanted precedent that finds firmly in favour of the boy who cried wolf.

Back in January 1964 the Beatles released a track called "can't buy me love" which considering
the money they have made since then and the fame they have enjoyed, probably wasn't strictly
true. Certainly they have enjoyed a kind of loving, revered by millions of people in countless
countries worldwide.

Gerrard Admits Career Low
Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has admitted that his recent six-month spell on the sidelines
was the low point of his career. The 31-year-old had been suffering with a recurring groin injury
before making his full comeback with a start against Manchester Utd last Saturday.
Instead of an in-depth look at a single facet, I thought I'd post multiple chalkboards from
Saturday's match, highlighting a couple of predominant themes.
CrossesThat Zonal Marking mentions this in his weekly league-wide roundup demonstrates how glaring a stat
it was. 22 attempted crosses, two successful.
When any Liverpool and Manchester United fixture takes place, there is a very strong chance that
the encounter will be fiery. Whether there will be any madness on the pitch such as a player being
sent off or multiple goals hitting the back of the net, this is something which many look forward
to seeing.
Match Review: Liverpool 1 Manchester Utd 1
Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester Utd at Anfield on Saturday, and can count
themselves unlucky not to have claimed all three points on home turf. Overview Having despatched
Everton with relative ease in their previous fixture, Liverpool were hoping to continue their
winning momentum with a victory over the old arch enemy.
Goals:Gerrard 68'
Chicharito 81'
So close. But Liverpool can't take full advantage of chances created, and United keeps scoring late
goals. Narratives are awesome.
Both managers would have been happy with the first hour of play. United's surprisingly defensive
lineup – without Rooney, Nani, and Chicharito and with Phil Jones in midfield – limited
Liverpool opportunities.

Suarez and Carroll in the 4-2-2-2, or more like a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 with Gerrard supposedly, finally
fit to start?
Squad sheets: Liverpool v Manchester United
With all eyes in Kuala Lumpur on Wigan v Bolton, the north-west's other big derby sees Liverpool
bidding to increase Wayne Rooney's woes with another home league win over Manchester United.
Anfield will revel in Rooney's international misfortune but despite renewed focus on his
hair-trigger temper, the Evertonian from Croxteth has not combusted in this fixture before.

End of an Era for Television Revenue Distribution?
Ever since the Premier League's inception in 1992 its constituents have been able to shelve
even the fiercest of rivalries in order to thrash out fair and even distribution agreements for
the billions of pounds that is raked in from TV deals each season.
Cometh The Hour, Cometh Dirk Kuyt
Dirk Kuyt has been great value for Liverpool Football Club since joining from Feyenoord for
£10m in 2006, but with the recent influx of quality additions to the side, the 31-year-old has
found himself a victim of our new found strength in depth.

Borussia Dortmund v Arsenal
This looks like a tough start for the Gunners, especially on the back of their heavy defeat
at the hands of Manchester United in the Premier League. Current Bundesliga Champions
Borussia Dortmund are quietly fancied to do well in this season's Champions League
following some excellent performances in their domestic league last season.
