THE FA tonight announced that the charge of misconduct against Luis Suarez was found proven and that he will be suspended for eight matches and fined £40,000. Suarez has the right to appeal, and will get 14 days to do so from the date the panel issue the written reasons for their decision.

Update: Liverpool has responded. They're not happy.

LFC considers racism in any form to be unacceptable without compromise. It is our strong held belief, having gone over the facts of the case, that Luis Suarez did not commit any racist act. It is also our opinion that the accusation by this particular player was not credible certainly no more credible than his prior unfounded accusations.

The 1st leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarterfinals kick off on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The 8 teams remaining will play their home-and-away series this week and next. The winners move on to the semifinals the last week of April and 1st week of May. The games are being broadcast on Fox Soccer Channel.

I was hoping a draw will be a good result but it was not to be. Both teams had a number of key players missing. Wenger sent a mixture of first team players and second stringers to play in their usual style while Ferguson sent a similar group out with a clear plan. In the end the man with the plan won, once again.

Nothing like a big game to get over big disappointment, eh!

The beauty of these kinds of games is that it can work both ways. If Arsenal can get a positive result this will turn out to be the perfect end to a couple of disappointing weeks and set up a tantalizing endgame. If the Gunners fail it will turn a bad period into a disastrous one.
