The departure of Mohamed Zidan from Borussia Dortmund has opened the door of opportunity for U.S. Under-23 national team forward Terrence Boyd.

Cologne and Mainz top flight Bundesliga game was called after 41 year old Banker Babak Rafati who had been due to referee the tie attempted suicide in his Hotel room.

Rafati's assistants new there was something a miss when the referee of over 200 top flight games including Champions League ties was unusually late and not answering his phone.

Borussia Dortmund's powerful central defender Neven Subotic might become a future target for Arsenal if he manages to impress Arsene Wenger in the Champions League games. Jan Schlaudraff had one of those games. He used to have a couple of those at Alemannia Aachen too. They earned him a call up to the national team and a premature transfer to Bayern Munich. From there it all went downhill for a couple of seasons, all the way to the point where Hannover desperately wanted to get rid of their top earner.

Both figuratively and literally.

The noise surrounding Hoffenheim's sonic intervention on Saturday keeps getting louder. Hoffenheim's groundkeepr, lone perpetrator or scapegoat, apparently had a helping hand and nearby stewards being in the know. He also has been operating his "self made" boom box in previous home games against Mainz, Cologne, Frankfurt and again Dortmund as well though it was never as loud as on Saturday.

As of this season the Bundesliga website provides tracking stats of all players through the "Spiel Matrix" feature (only in the German version for the time being though). In other words: how much, fast, often and where did a player run during a match. Whether this will give fans any new and useful insights remains to be seen, but they could be slightly less useless than overemphasized possession stats.

Now, call me single minded but there is more than one reason for me enjoying current German Champions Borussia Dortmund. Not only do I enjoy coverage of youngsters that have been given licence to express themselves by impressive and passionate coach, Jurgen Klopp but it also gives me hope. Hope and inspiration.

U.S. national team goalkeeper David Yelldell has reason to celebrate.

Yelldell has been named the starting goalkeeper for Bayer Leverkusen in the absence of incumbent Rene Adler, who is recovering from offseason knee surgery. Yelldell beat out Fabian Giefer and will start Leverkusen's season opener against Mainz on August 7.

Though the transfer window officially started on the first of July, I didn't imagine that even our national team would acquire new players. Eugen Polanski, the former captain of the German youth team, decided to 'switch sides' and make himself available for Poland. Much to Franz Smuda's appreciation as our coach never hid that he's a big fan of Polanski's talent.

Liverpool have been told they will need to look elsewhere for a new central defender after Neven Subotic confirmed he has no intention of leaving Borussia Dortmund.
Kenny Dalglish is eager to improve his options in central defence this summer and Birmingham City defender Scott Dann is also a target.

Zimmerman had offers from Greece and Croatia but told TSG that Darmstadt, recently promoted to the 3rd Bundesliga, offered precisely the opportunity he was looking for.

Zum Glück holt Schalke den DFB Pokal. Stellt euch mal vor Duisburg hätte den Pott geholt und wäre nächstes Jahr neben Mainz und Hannover in die Europa League eingezogen. Jahrelang gute Ergebnisse im internationalen Geschäft und damit verbunden viele Punkte für die UEFA-5-Jahreswertung, wären wohl für die Katz gewesen.
