Joe Corona appears destined for a big 2012 as he continues to contribute for Club Tijuana while
becoming a bigger part of the U.S. national team set-up. All of that is on the heels of what was
just recognized as a pretty sharp 2011.
The 21-year-old Corona won the Golden Ball as Mexico's top rookie, beating out finalists Alfonso
Luna (Atlante), Armando Zamorano (Jaguares) and Hector Herrera (Pachuca) to take home the
award.
At long last, the scores and scorers from the sixteenth round of the Torneo Apertura are here.

In the final game of the year for Sporting KC, the Swope Park Rangers finished out the reserve
league season today at Swope Park against FC Dallas. The Rangers fell 5-3 to Dallas as Ruben Luna
scored 4 goals to help Dallas to the win. Luna opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Jeferson
equalized for the reserves in the 37th from the penalty spot after Soony Saad was fouled in the
box.
partido.
The Sporting KC reserves, the Swope Park Rangers, fell to FC Dallas in reserve team action today
2-1 down in Dallas. From reports KC had a good run of play today controlling large portions of the
game, but couldn't capitalize on the chances. Dallas grabbed two goals in the first 16 minutes
through Ruben Luna and Bobby Warshaw.

FRISCO, Texas - It was not a pleasant homecoming for Texas native Kenny Cooper.
In Cooper's return to Pizza Hut Park, his new team the Portland Timbers were overwhelmed by FC
Dallas, 4-0, on Saturday behind goals from Zach Loyd, George John, Brek Shea and Ruben Luna.
Portland won the first ever match-up between the two sides, 3-2, two months ago at JELD-WEN
Field, but they could not rekindle their magic as Dallas outnumbered them in nearly every offensive
category.
FC Dallas Homegrown Players Ruben Luna and Bryan Leyva each scored in the second half to lead
FCD over Real Salt Lake in the Reserve League opener for both teams on Tuesday.
Luna converted a penalty kick seven minutes into the second half, and Leyva converted a volley
from distance 11 minutes later to double FC Dallas' lead.

As Major League Soccer grows, so does their academies. We've seen some solid early returns out
of the various academies so far with the likes of D.C. United's Andy Najar, New York's Juan
Agudelo, and even guys like FC Dallas's Ruben Luna.
FC Dallas signed 16-year-old goalkeeper Richard Sanchez as a homegrown player on Friday, giving
the team a league-record six homegrowns on its first-team roster.
Sanchez, a goalkeeper for Mexico's Under-17 national team, joins Bryan Levya, Ruben Luna, Moises
Hernandes, Victor Ulloa and Jon Top as homegrown signings for the MLS Cup runners-up.

Maybe it is because I'm blinded by the fact that I live in Dallas and I know about the youth
soccer development that is going on here but it seems others outside of town are starting to take
notice.
