- A group of MLS executives are set to visit Portland, Oregon, to assess the feasibility of placing
an expansion franchise there by 2012. The committee will meet with Merritt Paulson among other
local officials and businessmen to determine whether they have the proper facilities to maintain a
club. The startup cost of an MLS franchise is $20m.
- The International Olympic Committee has placed their support behind UEFA President Michel Platini
in his quest to take football out of the hands of profit for the better of the sport.

- Vowing that he'll make a swift return, Jose Mourinho might soon end up in Portugal as Luiz
Scolari's replacement. The 58-year-old Brazilian has received a four match ban from UEFA for his
spat with Serbia and Sevilla defender Ivica Dragutinovic and will miss the rest of his side's
qualifying matches. The Portugal manager is planning on appealing the decision, but nevertheless an
emergency meeting will be held by the Portuguese Soccer Federation to discuss the future of the
former World Cup winning boss.

You've probably heard about it by now since every soccer blogger in the world has posted it on
their blog (including me), but Jose Mourinho has left Chelsea. A bit shocking, but honestly, if his
heart wasn't in it anymore and that clearly seemed the case, he should leave.
The timing of his departure seems a bit odd for a couple of reasons.

- The Denmark women's boss, Kenneth Heiner-Moller, has denied that he accused China of bug-spying.
The 36-year-old also refuted claims that he lodged a protest with FIFA about that matter.
Apparently, prior to a Denmark staff meeting the day before the team met China, two individuals
with cameras were caught behind a two-way mirror in the meeting room.
