Will Quique Flores shine with Al Ahli - originally posted on Soccerlens.com
Al Ahli had fired their coach Ivan Hašek after a run of poor results in all competition. Losing
from Al Shabab in the GCC Champions Cup ended the Czech manager 2nd stay with the Dubai based club
who considered one of the top clubs in UAE Football.
2010-11 Recap In their first season back in Serie A since 1990, the belief was the Seahorses would
only enjoy their stay in the top flight for all of 38 games. After three weeks in, Cesena were the
darlings of Serie A, sitting atop the table alongside Inter. The experience at the top didn't last
for long and the club became embattled in the relegation race late in the season.
Can a man's work be separated from his personal life? Movie-watchers must ask themselves if it is
possible to enjoy the works of Roman Polanski knowing of the sexual allegations directed towards
the director, or if Mel Gibson's bigotry should lead them to boycott his films. Cesena fans find
themselves faced with a similar dilemma this season, as the club brings in Adrian Mutu to help an
anemic.
L'arbitro, pur essendo a poca
Today was the final day of the transfer market, and that meant sporting directors from all over
Italy crammed into the ATA Quark Hotel in Milan and scrambled to make last minute deals before the
7 pm deadline. Some directors found what they were looking for, others did not. If you missed any
of the transfers from today, visit my Twitter.
Over the past few seasons, Chilean fantasista Luis Jimenez has always been one of those players
that has showed excellent skill and technical ability but has been way too inconsistent to really
explode and become a top player. However he has proven to be a useful player with excellent skill
and creativity.
campionato, in Serie A.
uno.
And so the Decade in Review has arrived at the final chapter: 2008/2009. Which seems pretty
close but when you think about it is already far away into the archives. I've enjoyed reliving the
past 10 years each week and going back into calcio history. But we have reached the end. Here's to
another great 10 years of our beloved Italian calcio.
After the Nerazzurro domination of the previous season, the 2007-2008 season proved to be more
challenging. With Juventus back in Serie A and no teams starting on points penalties, the Scudetto
race was open. Inter had a little more trouble winning this time, only finishing 3 points ahead of
Roma at the end.
Rumours, like the corners of my mind. Here's the round up...
Rumour No. 1:Manchester City have seen their latest bid for Middlesbrough
winglet (winger + starlet) Adam Johnson turned down as the England U21 man has
apparently vowed to stay at 'Boro and help get them back into the Premier League.
competenza in maniera calcistica.
West Ham finished 17th this season and manager Gianfranco Zola has been sacked. The first of many
off-season Premier League casualties, surely.
We aren't huge Zola fans (from a managerial perspective) despite his obviously charming nature off
the field.
Though Zola did keep West Ham up, he did far too little in the end.
Image via Wikipedia Aston Villa were hosts to Tottenham in an exciting match in the Barclays
Premier League where Villa was the first to score. The first half Villa goal came from Gabriel
Agbonlahor just before the break but the visitors came back hard at the hosts and the Hotspurs
Captain, Michael Dawson scored the equalizer [.
West Ham have eased their striking problems with the signing of Livorno forward
Alessandro Diamanti. The 26-year-old, who joins the Upton Park club for an undisclosed fee, has
signed a five-year contract with the Hammers...
Mattia Fontana of Eurosport's Italian website gives us the lowdown on the new Hammer:
Diamanti is an incredibly talented forward, a 'number ten' if you like.
The new Karren Brady executive management has come in and swiftly rung changes through the ranks of
West Ham United. One of these cost cutting measures was to deem Luis Jimenez surplus to
requirements. Originally on loan until the end of the season, the Chilean "El Mago" is now
transferred to Italian Serie A strugglers, Parma.
According to Rupert Fryer at Goal.com, La Repubblica is reporting that
Parma are interested in signing West Ham United midfielder
Luis Jimenez on loan for the rest of the season.
Mini match report:Â The FA Cup represents by far the Gunners' best chance of winning
silverware this season, but they almost didn't make it past the plucky Irons who outplayed the
visitors for much of the game at Upton Park on Sunday. But late goals by Aaron Ramsey and Eduardo
earned Wenger's boys a fourth-round tie against Stoke City.
News have filtered through that Guillermo Franco was hurt in a freak training ground injury. This
leaves West Ham and Gianfranco Zola short of striking options. So far goals have been hard to come
by since the loss of Carlton Cole and now with Franco also out for two games, the situation is now
extremely dire for the Hammers.
That smile is worth at least 50 Million
I miss Cristiano Ronaldo in the Premier League. I really do. My fantasy team hasn't been the same
without him. [See captaining Jermaine Defoe for 2 points x 2 = 4 points last weekend.] I'm out of
form. Depressed. Tense. And my former Portuguese stud is enjoying the warm weather in Spain.
West Ham kick off their 2009/10 Premiership season with an away tie against promoted side
Wolverhampton Wanderers. There is no reason why the Hammers cannot open the campaign with a
resounding victory.
It should be fair to say that the major concern for West Ham is the lack of depth upfront.
What to say about West Ham? They are the very definition of a midtable club. Ambitious to a
point, but hampered by history and finance. They have a young, exciting squad and a manager in
Zola who will look to utilize that vibrancy. They have a solid defence with depth at center back
and the under-rated Robert Green between the sticks.
West Ham United Biggest Ins: Luis Jimenez comes in on loan from Inter Milan to give depth in the
center of the park. That's all for signings. Biggest Outs: Gianfranco Zola cleaned house this
summer. Lee Bowyer left, but Jimenez is a like...

Here we go again with Serie A Weekly giving you a list of five stories to read this lunchtime
that we have seen from around the web and enjoyed ourselves. Many of these will be about Italian
football of course but there is always room for something different and those will be here too.
Take a look at our recommendations, pass them on and be sure to leave a comment on these great
articles.
If you're like me, you have rotten luck with Fantasy Premier League, the official fantasy
football game of the Premier League. Just hours before the season started, I had Didier Drogba and
Jermain Defoe as my two starting strikers. But after a change of heart, I decided to replace them
with Nicklas Bendtner and Carlos Tevez.
