Liverpool's soon to be confirmed signing Joao Carlos Teixeira has quiet the reputation to uphold
after comming through Sporting Lisbon's talented academy which has produced stars such as
Christiano Ronaldo, Nani and Luis Figo.
He has already shown he can score infront of the kop after scoring against Liverpool in the
NextGen series game.

There is no denying that the Nerazzurri season thus far has been full of trials and tribulations,
with the critics out in full force tearing into the former European and reigning World Champions at
any given opportunity. Just last week, Inter were barely above the relegation zone, languishing
near the bottom of the table after a defeat at home to second place Udinese.

A gaggle of footballing legends turned out for the UN's ninth annual 'Match against Poverty'
last night, which saw a squad of 30-odd luminaries such as Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo (who are both
UN Goodwill Ambassadors), Didier Drogba, Fernando Couto, Luis Figo, Edgar Davids, Pavel Nedved and
Fabio Cannavaro take on a Hamburg SV All-Stars side in front of a 24,000-strong crowd in
Germany.
French great Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian icon Ronaldo put on their annual Match Against
Poverty event Tuesday, taking on a team of Hamburg SV All-Stars in Germany, and the legend-laden
squad did not disappoint.
Ronaldo scored as part of his team's 5-4 victory, with proceeds from the event going toward
combating poverty in the Horn of Africa.
The United Nations x Shipwrecked Footballers?
Let Didier Drogba, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Zizou and even Michael Ballack teach you about the
Millennium Development Goals in a manner that I really hope, for everyone's sake, was intended to
be overflowing with sarcasm. It's a 32-page comic teaching about the United Nations' MDGs set for
2015 through the form of top footballers being shipwrecked and having to deal with real life
issues, like living a day without Sara Carbonero.

Sporting Lisbon believe they have something special inside their youth system. Sporting thrashed
Liverpool in last week's NextGen clash.
And Reds coach Rodolfo Borrell revealed on liverpoolc.tv: "I think Sporting are up there as one of
the main contenders for the title. I have some experience working in a great youth system at
Barcelona, and now here at Liverpool.

Here's Portuguese legend and Kickette fantasy boink buddy Luis Figo at the Estadio da Luz on
November 15th. He received a UEFA award for playing in more than 100 international games. Part of
his prize pack was this hat.
Still hot? Or would removal and burning be a 'pre-match' contractual obligation for you?
David Beckham's legacy is already tainted. Tainted because he will forever be remembered as the
man who dated a Spice Girl as much as he would for his starring role in the final minutes of the
1999 Champions League final. Tainted because he will forever be recognised as an Armani poster-boy
as much as he would for his last-gasp free-kick against Greece which helped propel England to the
World Cup Finals in 2001.

Admittedly there isn't a great deal of room in our office, but if we ever had a reason to locate
and work out how to switch on the vacuum cleaner, this would be it. Our own footballer. In all his
glorious be-suited buffness.
Nah, not really. It's just Luis Figo doing his rounds at the GoldenFoot events in Monaco today.

You may be under the impression that Luis Figo has always cut a suave, sophisticated,
immaculately-presented dash (with a little help from Just For Men of course).
Not so, as the girlies over at Kickette have recently found out to their
peril.
This is how we're used to seeing our beloved Luis Figo, properly coiffed and oozing the sexy. While
we'd like to believe that he came into this world as perfection, images have surfaced which prove
otherwise and we've been knocking back gimlets and Jaffa Cakes ever since to get over the
shock.
His segue from superstar midfielder to shiller of hair stuff might have been slightly jarring for
Luis Figo lovers, but as this honorary Kickette is happy to confirm
(left), he doesn't
have to be nekkid to attract some'come to mama' side-eye. Image: Epsilon/Getty Images Europe.
When we are not refreshing Net-a-porter or scoffing down Jaffa cakes (well, some of us scoff
Jaffa cakes, some prefer Bourbons) we like to ponder life's big questions – what should Becks do
about his bald patch? How did Joe Hart get his bum to look like that? WWJD with David Villa's soul
patch?
And to think: people often accuse us of being superficial.

Liverpool endured a difficult start to life in the NextGen Series as they went down to a 3-0 defeat
against Sporting Lisbon at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Rodolfo Borrell's youngsters faced one of the finest youth sides in Europe and found themselves
trailing to two magnificent first-half goals from Joao Teixeira and Alberto Coelho.
Liverpool's youngsters go under the spotlight at Anfield on Wednesday night when they take on
Sporting Lisbon in their first game of the NextGen Series, with Kenny Dalglish insisting it will be
an invaluable education for them.
Rodolfo Borrell's side will face a Portuguese outfit who in the past have produced players in the
calibre of Paulo Futre, Luis Figo and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Andy Cole 53'. Barcelona 3-3 Manchester United, Champions League fifth round group phase
1998/99.
Great goals always stand the test of time. The initial feeling of awe and ecstasy they induce, not
to mention the artistic brilliance that make them unique, mean that they can never be
replicated.
The 17 September 1997. The day Newcastle United embarked on their first Champions League
campaign. La Liga runners-up Barcelona provided the opposition, boasting names such as Rivaldo,
Luis Figo and Luis Enrique.
Newcastle were going into the unknown. After finishing runners-up in the Premier League to
Manchester United the previous season Kenny Dalglish's side deserved their chance with Europe's
elite.
Mexico had a great day yesterday, winning another game in a very sensational way securing the
victory at the closing seconds of the game to beat Uruguay 2-0 and win the under 17 World Cup for
the second time in its history.
We saw Mexico and Uruguay surpassing Germany and Brazil.
The European Cup is the most prestigious club tournament in world football and in the last few
years, since its expansion into its current Champions League format, the tournament has become even
more honoured (if that's even possible!) with teams battling away every season to become part of
the rich history of the European Cup.
A few months in to the season, after Rafael da Silva started playing regularly at right back, I
was frustrated that the manager had started John O'Shea there for so much of the season. Rafael was
great going forward and tenacious in defence, whilst O'Shea just seemed to bumble along, doing his
job.
Here at Kickette HQ we like to refer to footwear masterpieces such as these Giuseppe Zanotti
sandals as SHOOZ. They are worthy of such a title.
OG* WAG (and Mrs. Luis Figo) Helen Svedin attended the 2011 Vogue Joyas awards in Madrid last
week. She showed us all how it's done in a classy yet sexy LBD and a wavy ‘do that can only be
described as "What you want you cannot have.
Nickspinkboots' Note: Kiran Vr from Inside Manchester United is
back and this time he's here to tell you what the most important muscle in Ryan Giggs's body is.
Take your minds out of the gutter, I don't mean THAT. I'm talking about the brain (although, it
doesn't have muscles technically).
Luis Figo and a team of superstars ( Ronaldo, Cafu, Serginho, Elber, Ronald de
Boer, Patrick Vieira, Gheorghe Hagi, Dejan Stankovic and Pauleta) took on the Austrian side to
celebrate the club's 100th anniversary.The All Stars team won 7 - 4.

Former players including Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo put on a classic show as Real Madrid beat
Bayern Munich in an all-star match-up. Final score: 8-3.
Real Madrid and Bayern Munich turned back the clock on Sunday night for their annual Corazon
Classic match in aid of sports schools in Africa.
Luis Figo, Fernando Redondo, Paul Breitner, Adreas Brehme,Ruben de la Red and Zinedine Zidane were
among those present.
Luis hits the bottle It turns out that overpaid footballers still aren't paid enough. Luis Figo is

Retired Portuguese 'baller, Luis Figo, spent the day yesterday stripping on the beaches of Ibiza
just like he does every other year.
Although this was the only photo available to commemorate this year's triumphant event,
his well-packaged goods brought us to tears once again.
As we had mentioned a week ago here, we had a contest allowing fans to submit a question for
Nani to respond to. We picked a winner and that lucky person is...Zubair!
Zubair, we will be in touch with you shortly to get your info so that we can pass it along to
Adidas. They will be sending you something good.
