Two of the best teams to have graced not only La Liga but the world football stage are undoubtedly are the 'first' galacticos of Real Madrid and Pep Guardiola's Barcelona team of recent years. But which team exactly boasted the best possible squad? Starting with Real, huge fortunes were spent on the likes of Luis [.
It would seem that, if you have designs on turning out for Manchester United, then persistence
is key.
After spending the last few years relentlessly pestering Sir Alex Ferguson,
badgering him for a kick-about, it now appears that the United overlord has buckled and is
seriously considering allowing Usain Bolt to represent the club in a friendly against the Real
Madrid Legends pencilled in for next summer.
For years now, Usain Bolt has been angling for a chance to play for Manchester United and now he
might have his chance -- in a charity match and not with the club's first team.
Bolt first wrote in his 2010 autobiography that if he played football, he would like to do it
for his favorite club, Man United.
The Euros are fast approaching, and football's getting serious; though there's still fun to be
had. Real Madrid took on Manchester United in the Corazon Classic match, with club legends (and
Dion Dublin) lining up for both sides. Keep an eye out for Zinedine Zidane, Fernando Morientes,
Teddy Sheringham, Roberto Carlos, Andy Cole, Luis Figo, Dwight Yorke and Edwin van der Sar.
French great Zinedine Zidane and Brazilian icon Ronaldo put on their annual Match Against
Poverty event Tuesday, taking on a team of Hamburg SV All-Stars in Germany, and the legend-laden
squad did not disappoint.
Ronaldo scored as part of his team's 5-4 victory, with proceeds from the event going toward
combating poverty in the Horn of Africa.
Reports in Portugal this evening have suggested that Luis Figo could become interim Inter Milan Coach.
According to jogo.pt, should lose in the Milan derby this coming Sunday, Inter President Massimo Moratti would sack coach Andrea Stramaccioni and appoint Figo until the end of the season
The former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder is currently a board member at Inter.

Terrifying trousers on hot footballers is something we've had to get used to in our time, but
Luis Figo has confounded us with his late, spectacular entry to the hall of shame. The former Real
Madrid, Barcelona and Portugal international sported these spotty monstrosities whilst playing in
the Abama Pro-Am Golf Tournament last week, and while golf trousers are notoriously heinous, we're
positive that not even serial style offender Ian Poulter would have gone near these things with a
nine-iron.
There's a whole slate of FA Cup matches in England, including Sunderland-Arsenal (see
PoliticalFootballs' most recent post for a full list of those fixtures), and domestic matches in
Germany, Italy, etc. Â But we're finding ourselves getting increasingly fascinated by Spanish
football beyond the big two.
Few things are more entertaining than the candid photos of Brazilian striker Neymar("Especially if you're drunk browsing Facebook on Saturday night!" admitted our Brazilian friends from Florianópolis). Over the weekend, the Santos legend posted another adorable photo in matching geeky classes with his son, Davi Lucca.
After the revelation that led to Cristiano Ronaldo's admission of misery
yesterday, the Spanish media pack spent their afternoon gathering opinions from former Madridistas
(i.e. Roberto Carlos, who suggested he may have been annoyed about losing the UEFA
trophy to Iniesta) for their opinions on the matter.

There was a charity game held over in Portugal last night, which saw a Benfica XI take on a team
consisting of Luis Figo and his buddies one of which was a chap by the name of Fernando Mendes, the
human meatball currently tasked with presenting the Portuguese version of 'The Price Is Right'.
TweetThe latest instalment of our weekly feature 'Never Forget' looks at one of Portugal's
outstanding players to emerge from the so called 'Golden Generation' Luis Figo. Cristiano Ronaldo
take note! Sublime skill, breathtaking ball control, tantalizing touches and flamboyant flicks just
some of the many adjectives used to describe the playing [.
As Cristiano Ronaldo's improved Euro 2012 form yields results for Portugal, many have opted to
engage in the inane debate over whether this makes him better than Lionel Messi. Ronaldo's
girlfriend and supermodel Irina Shayk, however, has jumped to his defense in a very different, yet
still very inane debate with his not (yet) girlfriend and supermodel Bar Refaeli.
In which Luis Figo blows his beans all over the shop after Ronaldo's goal against the Czech
Republic put Portugal in the semis, and almost poleaxes Eusebio into the bargain...
Steady on Luis, the man's a septuagenarian for Christ's sake!
Portugal's assorted legends were not shy about showing their delight as Cristiano Ronaldo scored
against the Czech Republic last night. Luis Figo was quick off the mark, jumping out of his seat to
celebrate. Next-door-neighbour Eusebio either no longer has the reaction speed or prefers to make
sure the goal has been given before celebrating.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 79th-minute winner against the Czech Republic prompted a number of joyous
celebrations, but the best of the bunch came from Luis Figo and Eusebio. The two Portuguese legends
were sitting together at the National Stadium in Warsaw -- Eusebio looking well after a few health
scares last winter and Figo wearing a Portugal No.
Portugal vs Denmark
Matchday 2 Group B
Lviv, 18:00
If you were to look back at the international tournaments Cristiano Ronaldo has
played in (from the Euro 2004, World Cup '06 to Euro 08′ and beyond), you'd quickly realise that
"O capitão" has finally come of age.
This article titled "Euro 2012: Portugal coach Paulo Bento denies rift with Cristiano Ronaldo"
was written by Stuart James in Lviv, for The Guardian on Tuesday 12th June 2012 18.43 UTC
All is not well inside the Portugal camp. Paulo Bento, the Portugal coach, has seen his tactics
questioned by two of his former team-mates, Luis Figo and Rui Costa, Cristiano Ronaldo's behaviour
has come under the microscope after he stomped off the pitch against Germany on Saturday at the
final whistle and Helder Postiga was cross-examined at Tuesday's press conference about his
credentials to lead the line against Denmark on Wednesday evening.
Liverpool's soon to be confirmed signing Joao Carlos Teixeira has quiet the reputation to uphold
after comming through Sporting Lisbon's talented academy which has produced stars such as
Christiano Ronaldo, Nani and Luis Figo.
He has already shown he can score infront of the kop after scoring against Liverpool in the
NextGen series game.
A gaggle of footballing legends turned out for the UN's ninth annual 'Match against Poverty'
last night, which saw a squad of 30-odd luminaries such as Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo (who are both
UN Goodwill Ambassadors), Didier Drogba, Fernando Couto, Luis Figo, Edgar Davids, Pavel Nedved and
Fabio Cannavaro take on a Hamburg SV All-Stars side in front of a 24,000-strong crowd in
Germany.
Let Didier Drogba, Luis Figo, Ronaldo, Zizou and even Michael Ballack teach you about the
Millennium Development Goals in a manner that I really hope, for everyone's sake, was intended to
be overflowing with sarcasm. It's a 32-page comic teaching about the United Nations' MDGs set for
2015 through the form of top footballers being shipwrecked and having to deal with real life
issues, like living a day without Sara Carbonero.
It would be a stretch to call Portugal under-achievers, but it doesn't seem unreasonable to
suggest that they could be considered the nearly men of European international football. This is a
country which has periodically come close in recent years to winning a major trophy without
actually lifting one, but the development of football in Portugal to even this point has come after
decades of being considered a relative backwater in international terms, even though its biggest
clubs have been winning trophies at the highest level since the nascent years of pan-continental
club football.
Over the years football has created many iconic figures from George Best to Franz Beckenbauer and
more recently Luis Figo to David Beckham. Many displayed their talents to the world during World
Cup Finals and major European competitions, others weren't so lucky. Some built their status using
their football ability, skill and success while others [.
Earlier today, Portuguese legend Luis Figo took participated in the Abama Pro-Am golf tournament
in Tenerife. Sadly, he had to rush his round as he was running late for enrollment at clown
college.
It's an odd choice for Figo, who doesn't usually like to attract attention to himself through
his sportswear.
The part-time Balkan Gangster in football known as Zlatan Ibrahimovic has done
it again! After a post-match interview on Sunday following Milan's win over Lecce, he yelled "Cazzo
Guardi?" ("What the f**k are you looking at?") at an Italian journalist. Thankfully, said
journalist did not respond with : "il naso graciosa" (your funny nose) or hell would've
most certainly broken loose on the pitch.
There is no denying that the Nerazzurri season thus far has been full of trials and tribulations,
with the critics out in full force tearing into the former European and reigning World Champions at
any given opportunity. Just last week, Inter were barely above the relegation zone, languishing
near the bottom of the table after a defeat at home to second place Udinese.
