Ricardo Quaresma Unplugged Intro

2
Nerazzurri Fans may well ask who is this Portuguese wonder boy? What will he add to our club?  What is his style? and will he fill the boots of Luis Figo to become the next midfield magician for Inter?  Comparison to Cristiano Ronaldo is little surprise as Quaresma is yet one more from that current crop of outstanding Portuguese playmakers. Ricardo Quaresma to Inter - analysis

2
Well Jose Mourinho finally got his man with the signing of Ricardo Quaresma from Porto. This is a great move for Inter Milan as they needed some younger players to add to their aging squad, and it also give Mourinho a chance to put his own stamp on the squad. I was beginning to wonder when Inter were going to make a really big move. Click to continue reading...

The New Face of Inter Milan (Gazzetta)

1
In today's Gazzetta dello Sport, there's a great article by Antonino Morici that makes a preliminary analysis on José's Inter, at least based on their first-competitive-match performance in Sunday's Supercoppa. It's still early for season assessments, but given that Gazzetta are generally experts in all things Inter and AC Milan, this one's a pretty good read: MILAN, 25 [. Click to continue reading...

Sporting Kid To Chelsea… No Nani or Ronaldo Then?

4
Sporting Lisbon has a good reputation of producing players from their youth system, with Luis Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo, João Moutinho, Nani, Ricardo Quaresma and Miguel Veloso probably the most notable of these. Manchester United have a good relationship with the club, forking out substantial transfer fees for Ronaldo and Nani in recent years. Click to continue reading...

One Game At Old Trafford Is Worth Two Elsewhere

1
John O'Shea showed potential to be a brilliant player when he was lad, megging Luis Figo when he was at his best. He had surprisingly quick feet for a big lad and was confident on the ball. Sadly, O'Shea has never fulfilled that potential, but his attitude has seen him rise in popularity at Old Trafford. Click to continue reading...

Will Politics Dictate Whether Barcelona Make the Big Signing?

2
After coming back from lunch and snooping (snooping since I should be working) the various websites covering summer transfer activities, it suddenly dawned on me that the numerous signings made by FC Barcelona, the most recent addition in the form of Alexander Hleb from Arsenal, have an eerie similarity to the signings made eight years [. EPL Daily 3.19: Figo says no to QPR, surprise?, Blues are raided

FIGO: Reports in England and Figo himself quashed the rumor of 35-year old Figo to Matt Pickens' Queens Park Rangers. Yep, QPR. INCOMING: Luis Figo to New England Revolution/MLS (UPDATE 2)

Rating: 3 (Possible)
Overnight our anonymous emailer sent us the following which seems to concur with what Ives Galarcep posted this morning on the issue.

"My source tells me that Figo and the Revs are close to making a deal, and the only hangup is the amount of money.

Shocking: Figo Too Expensive For Revs

5
The Revs have been seeking a designated player, and that player has reportedly been Luis Figo. Not surprisingly, he's asking for far too much money than the Kraft organization is willing to part ways with. According to Soccer By Ives, that figure is in the $4-5 million/yr neighborhood. That's about what the deal was for [. INCOMING: Luis Figo to New England Revolution? (UPDATE)

32

Rating: 2 (Not likely)

This email comes to us from the same source who brought us the original Figo to New England rumor and was sent to us not long after we posted the link to Ives Galarcep's article.

As always, it is an anonymous email so use the old noggin and do with it what you will:

REPORT: New England Quietly Prepairing To Sign Designated Player

19

Rating: 4 (Good)

Ives Galarcep is reporting that New England is preparing to use its Designated Player slot.
We would have rated this higher considering the source but it is almost unfathomable that the Krafts would actually open the wallet to spend on the Revolution. Perhaps the orange shock (and the potential repeat) of the two time falling to Houston in the MLS Cup final, finally forced a change? Click to continue reading...

Preston North End have made recent comments on how they plan to make a last ditch offer to MLS and the Revs to buy the services of Taylor Twellman. The last offer they made was reported as being worth up to $2.5 million with bonuses. The Revs were quick to dismiss the offer as [...] Click to continue reading...

INCOMING: Luis Figo to New England Revolution?

6

Rating: 2 (not likely)

We pass on this rumor which was sent to our email address simply because while it sounds suspect,it would be an excellent move for New England and Major League Soccer if true. Also of note, Sean Wheelock has maintained he still is hearing Figo's name mentioned in MLS circles as being a transfer if not for this window then during the summer window. Figo, Henry, and My Continued Souring on Beckham

7
First of all, consider this post a replacement for the middle section of yesterday's awful, barely-considered post. I'll be addressing this later tonight. For the moment, though, I'm busy joining the parade reversing away from/pointing out the dubious origins of the Luis Figo-to-MLS rumor; in fact, read Steve Goff's short comment on the subject and you [. Figo Still an MLS Target?

2
Alexi Lalas told Marca Sports Daily on Friday that Luis Figo was still likely to come to MLS, although he will not be playing for the Galaxy. I'm not sure if this is just bluster by Lalas to get in the European press at a time when David Beckham's injury woes worsen and after the Galaxy embarrassed themselves in two friendlies where the European press assembled (it should be pointed out that the Galaxy have played very well since those two friendlies), or if this is something real.
