Anzhi Makhachkala, the Russian club with an abundance of wealth behind them, are reportedly
close to signing Fabio Capello as manager. The club, owned by Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov,
has made no attempts to hide its wealth and in recent times has made moves for every notable high
profile player available for transfer.
While the economy in Italy lurches from one crisis to another, there is an export market which
shows no signs of a slump. Across Europe, it seems, there is a prized product of the peninsula
which never sees demand dry up. An unerring rule of the football market appears to have been
established: if you seek success and tactical acumen go out and hire a Italian coach.

It's getting sirius in the Champions League, people. Our manicure and drinking schedules are
not equipped to deal with this much mania so early in the tournament.
Liverpool is set to go up against Juventus in the battle to sign Portuguese international
centre-back Bruno Alves, playing with with Zenit Saint-Petersbourg.
It has been reported that the 29 year old was Juventus bound, however it now appears, according to
reports in Italy, that Juventus face strong opposition from Liverpool who are looking to add Alves
experience to their defence.
Typical Mirko, it was inevitable wasn't it? A big game player by design, scoring against one of the
titans of modern day English football on the greatest club stage in the world. In fact, nearly
every facet of that goal simply oozed of the Montenegrin, an epitome of the way he played. It was
his second of the night, and Roma's third.
Udinese currently occupy the fourth position in Serie A, leading challengers Roma, by two points.
If they stay in this position, they'll qualify for next season's Champion's League; albeit in the
preliminary qualifying round. This would be a remarkable success for a team, who are not regular
features on Europe's grandest stage.
He says very little, outside of the bland metronomic answers we come to expect from men in his
position so when Juventus Direttore Generale Beppe Marotta gave an honest and forthright interview
with Corriere dello Sport, we should be all ears. The site purposely avoids transfer rumour and
speculation but, much like this previous interview this seemed different from the outset.
Liverpool defender target Cristian Ansaldi wants a move away from Russia, according to the player's
agent.
The Rubin Kazan left back, who can also play on the right side of defence, has been impressing in
the Russian Premier League, and agent Pedro Aldave claims Liverpool and Atletico Madrid have taken
an interest
"There has been some informal market interest from Liverpool and Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool should have little problem shipping Italian midfielder Alberto Aquilani out in the summer
if they decide there is no place for the 26-year-old at Anfield, and the player could yet end up
reuniting with a former coach.
Currently on loan at Juventus, Aquilani's agreed asking price of €16.
Matchday 29 begins in a matter of hours in Italy. Two coaches have also spoke about futures- one
about his own, one about that of a player- as a club and a winger appear to be at a crossroads. As
ever, Serie A remains fascinating.
- Former Roma boss Luciano Spalletti has distanced himself from the Juventus job, should Gigi Del
Neri get sacked: "In Italy there's talk of me at Juve?

The Ukrainian hosts are up for this one, and are ready to fight according to manager Mircea
Lucescu. The 3-2 win in the first leg at the Stadio Olimpico was a massive result, giving Lucescu's
side three away goals and one foot in the quarter finals.
