Gunners Today 21 November @ 06:12 PM EST
The art of a natural striker is immensely undervalued these days isn't it? "Yeah he is okay, but
he does nothing else apart from score". How would we have love to have that player at the Stadium
of Light. We did. He went off just after the 71st minute. Shortly after we went 1-0 down.
Frazier Campbell didn't know what he did with Bent's header from Reid's corner.

First, a confession: I kind of love Ipswich Town manager and former Ireland captain Roy Keane.
(Even though he terrifies me.) But I was glad it wasn't my cell phone going off in the middle of a
press conference this week. Because let's face it: the man is a bit...oh, [...]

As was previously stated here (okay, I was off by a little bit), it looks like Ben Olsen is
going to hang up his boots. Although it could have been easily guessed that his time was running
out, Olsen has decided that either pain or other considerations have made it undesirable to
continue his career.

The Daily
Mail has a nice assortment of photoshopped Thierry Henry specials sent in by jokesters around
the internet - and this one seemed to me to make the most sense because of Henry's past professed
love for the Chicago Bulls.

Ireland aren't going! Neither is Gus Hiddink.
Could we bring him back....too late I guess!
Ronaldo should be there..if fit...but not the Ukraine's or Egyptians.
Still in the modern world if your country doesn't make it (Ireland) you can support the country you
grew up in (England) the country you live in and love (Socceroos) or the countries you have
visited, (NZ, USA, Germany, Japan, France, Greece, Italy etc etc,) or countries you'd like to see
do well.

Can I take a minute to testify? Thank you. I'm now 33 years old with little time for exercise and a
penchant for rich cheeses and savory meats. It is for this very reason that I possess a body type
that could be described as "rotund" and why many soccer jersey's come off like meat casing on my
frame.

international break and nothing much happened in my absence, but I now dutifully bring you what
did.
As you may have read in TheSpoiler (highly recommended by the way), Darius Vassell, ex-Man City
striker, has been experience a few bumps over in Turkey.

The city of Alcorcón celebrated their shock victory over Real Madrid in style
yesterday, as thousands lined the road to catch a glimpse of their heroes. Fans crowded around the
team bus to welcome back their boys and we have to admit, it's certainly a beautiful image!
It's always sad when a death occurs in the football family.

There's been an interesting exchange on the Canadian soccer front, with Jason de Vos and Paul James
both writing articles about Canadian players who have chosen to play for other national teams, and
Duane Rollins responding in kind.
While this might get me into all sorts of trouble, my own view is that while I am sympathetic to
those who are angry at players like Begovic and Lensky for switching national allegiances at this
late stage, and for misleading Canada fans over their intended decision, I have trouble accepting
that they should play for Canada "no matter what," as in "no matter if the CSA actively supports
both them and the national program in a meaningful way or not.

Manchester City center back Kolo Toure has revealed that he would cherish the chance of teaming
up with brother Yaya at Manchester City. The pair have been close to crossing paths in the past
when Arsenal chased Yaya, but the younger Toure opted for Barca.
Now, with Mark Hughes interested in his brother, Kolo has opened the doors for a move and told
The Manchester Evening News that he'd love for his brother to sign for Manchester
City.

Because with live in a world of litigation and because people get all bent out of shape over the
smallest things (that could easily be explained) and because litigation takes forever and lawyers
are expensive (otherwise they wouldn't bother to take forever) and because you can get any kind of
suspension lifted while you're waiting for an appeal it appears that Chelsea can do business as
usual since the Court of Arbitration for Sport won't be able to set a date for a hearing until
February.

Can I get an Amen? This week's winner is: The Holy Babel.
I don't know if you guys have noticed this yet, but I really REALLY like name puns. And I think
there is a serious lack of clever names in the official game. Too many teams are named some form
of: FC My Town or Gunners Rule6969.

As much stick as American fans of football a/k/a soccer get from the mainstream sports media and
sports fan, I'm always shocked at how many fans of the Beautiful Game dismiss the women's game.
Those of us who take even a passing interest in women's football know it is not a gentle love fest.

and Gooners everywhere are praying Arsene Wenger's Young Guns can overcome Mark Hughes' side,

in which Adebayor kicked RVP in the face.

We're making that assumption, anyway. Even though the pair aren't pictured in the same photo
frame and it's technically possible that they just happened to be in the same place at the same
time coincidentally and not because they aren't having mad monkey love together every night.
As we continue to deal with Iker and his new relationship, at least we can take comfort in the
fact that some things never change: our long-term F5 number 1 still has issues choosing shirts we
deem to be acceptable.
